  1. you've hit it on the head...no split ring, go for the loop! Some would say ANY wobbling crankbait...but your experimentation will be your guide. Look at you with all the posts tonight!
  2. I think it's the wobble that the bee makes that will catch 'em...looks like a some little creature packed with protein...an easy meal!
  3. #1 - the gold and pink jobbies...just 'walk the dog' ... dynamite! #2 - tied between jitterbug and tiny torpedo...just fast enough of a retrieve so that you can hear plip-plop-plip-plop...and the smallies will SMASH them
  4. I like to rip 'em hard and fast....but in those clear creeks, that might be a bit too aggressive...either way, I've had good success with them
  5. Way to go, BotBot!!!! Think how much bigger that bass will be when you catch him next time!!
  6. Not a bad way to spend the weekend...surprising that pike would be that picky on colour! Did it happen to be Portage or Mill Lake?
  7. And let's not forget the numerous nets strung throughout the lake... good fishery, but, like others have said...lots of small stuff. I've fished it a few times, lots of fun with the bass, ran into 2 walleye accidentally, lots of small pike.
  8. I LOVE that canoe cart...if I borrow it for the weekend, does Spike come with it?!?! Way to go on getting into that little lake...sounds like a nice way to spend a few days.
  9. I assume you're talkin' about "Tony", right?
  10. Droooooolllll........thanks for sharing
  11. No pictures and only 5 posts?!?! Don't expect any pats on the back from THIS club Tongue planted firmly in cheek! Way to go...nice to know that Nipissing pike still gobble up spinnerbaits...what's your colour choice? I'm partial to white and green when out that way...
  12. My Dad would always brag about great bass fishing on Lake Muskoka...the only way he'd fish was at night, off any rock point, with a full moon and a jitterbug. Real slow stop-start retrieve...and he proved that it's still effective by schooling me last summer on a nice calm moonlit night. Lots of bass in those big muskoka lakes...
  13. In shallow water, just about any fish is likely to be rather skittish, and not willing to bite. Sounds like the pike you saw were gar pike, if in fact they were distinctly needlenosed. Minnows or small silvery spoons are your best bet for them. But again, with such shallow water and them being so openly exposed to you, they may be too scared to bite. Catfish like stinky baits...fresh sucker meat is popular, chicken livers are as well. Walleye...not a fish I should even attempt to give tips on but not likely to be in the same places now as they will in the fall. That's all I got.
  14. awesome pics!! Can't wait to see more...have fun
  15. Ouch!!! Thanks for sharing...better get down there and check it out...need a bar to go on my hitch
  16. I would just measure your crossbars and so long as you have a couple inches on either side, you should be fine. Other questions I will leave to the Sportspal Pals.
  17. Head for the outlet of the Muskoka River, if it's nearby...been hearing some excellent reports from that area.
  18. WAL-MART has an Abu-Garcia combo on for $45...7 foot rod, solid reel with 5-bearings...absolutely money well-spent. My son and wife both got Abu's in the past couple years and they're fantastic value...worth the look.
  19. D'oh!
  20. I'll be in Muskoka determining whether or not I still believe in Walleye But NEXT weekend...most likely somewhere in the Kawarthas with a friend who is new to Musky, but has a cottage on a healthy musky lake, and a willingness to learn!
  21. Good call, Ritchie...looks like a stocker to me. Amazing fish, Raf...thanks for that!! Drifter -- my heart skipped a few beats when you said Temagami!!
  22. This is a great thread...(some minor character assaults notwithstanding)...either way you slice it the hockey is exciting, and you can't help but feel the passion from both sides. I have been impressed with the skill and control Detroit shows, but I can't help but hoot and holler when the Pens light it up! Just seems like more heart, and now that they've proven they can outplay the Wings for long enough to win a game, I hope they can keep it going Bring on the best of 3!!!
  23. Wow...I checked in on this thread to see if anyone mentioned bucktails.... For the record, I love Buchertails, but I should mention that Lindy makes a cheap bucktail that is surprisingly durable and really thumps. Ditto on the proper gear (line and leaders) as well.
  24. I don't know the lake that well, but, I've heard some excellent reports. If you're not too far from the mouth of the Muskoka River, head over there.
