  1. I second the Head Lake vote, 'specially if you want numbers over size.
  2. Couldn't tell you, although it does look a decent spot, on paper. Don't know if you don't try, I guess.
  3. You don't say much, Tom R., but that's a nice little report Thanks for sharing
  4. True...Rosseau and Little Joe River...where is Eagle Lake, anyway? Specifically...we already know it's near Bracebridge
  5. That is a dream trip -- WOW!!! I did a quick trip from Big Miss to Little Miss, and the best pattern was minnow baits jerked through the rapids. Any big, deep rapids would hold active fish all day...smaller sets were only worth fishing in low light. I mostly used a 3.5inch Yozuri, as I could rip it really nicely and it suspended...but found that when I moved up in size, to a 7 inch Bagley's perch, I was catching bigger fish, and the odd pike. I hope you have some pics to post when you're back from that one!
  6. Well the guy that sent it to me was of course, one of many in a chain of "FWD"s..but the note attached said it was taken in Edson, Alberta, over a bear bait. He is also the same guy that sent me a pic of Ewout Bloum's "massive canadian record pike" we are all so familiar with...like I say...I just thought it was a cool pic.
  7. Welcome aboard indeed, Mike! I've never seen the show, but I am beyond intrigued now...I like the sound of it -- less sponsors, more real people. I also think Mike looks like TJ...just a bit...anybody?
  8. I'm not a hunter, so forgive me if the pic doesn't display proper etiquette for the hold....and I don't want to stir up any tensions about wolf hunting...but a friend sent me this pic...WOW!
  9. Good ol' Lake X Sounds like a great day
  10. Sheee-yooot!! Thassa nice one
  11. I don't hear of too many people catching walleye on Skeleton...but you can always try 3-Mile just down the road if you've got wheels under your boat...
  12. droooooolllll.....thanks for sharing
  13. Has anyone called yet? Is it still going in? Henry where in the heck did you find that treehugger video?
  14. Man, you never fail to impress with the Pike...thanks for sharing
  15. The first of many Way to go!!!
  16. MMmmmm....slabs... Not a bad distraction from all those pesky walleye, eh?
  17. Boo-urnsss!!! Nasty ordeal, but it's over and you can fish again! Very good case for keeping cutters and first aid kid in the tackle box!
  18. Wow Cudz, I had no idea you were so filthy stinking rich -- nice family shot
  19. Sounds about the same as my little guy....when I take him, I just let him set the pace for how long we should fish for...started to push it a bit too hard a couple years ago, and he wanted to go less and less. Now that I don't bring it up as often, I find he's asking to go fishing more and more
  20. Have never used one...I'm a Pink Lady man, myself LOL...but am interested to hear how it works out....be sure to post the results!
  21. I'm taking the young lad up to a little place called Noganosh Lake...south of the Pickerel River. He wanted to go camping, and he specifically wanted it to be very wild...no campsites, no people...won't catch me turning that down. We won't be fishing any more than he wants to, but, as he put it "pancakes for breakfast and fish for dinner!" Lookin' forward to a good time
  22. Welcome aboard, I'mHooked Sounds like you got the ice-fishing bug too...great! Where's home for you? Yeah...you'll fit in just fine
  23. Couldn't it also be the fluctuation of the general population? Could there not be a large batch of small fish in there right now, that will grow up to be larger? Unless of course people think keeping a pike under 24 inches is worthwhile. I guess some do. But what about dissolved oxygen content? What if it's been going down, and the fish are stunting? I'm sure the most obvious answer is pressure from more fisherpeople...but still...the walleye lake I grew up on has gone through different phases where all you catch one year are small guys, then the next year you're into a bumper crop of nice sized eaters.
  24. Way to go, Dano!!! Awesome report...nice scenery...and the lake looks nice too I've been wanting to fish Horwood for a long time....never knew about the crazy logs though...wow! Did you fish much near the coca-cola waterfalls? I've heard it's supposed to be a pretty good spot
