  1. Beauty report, IceFisherman...a friend of mine has taken me out a couple times on Lake O this year for my first experience with the mighty Kings...I'm totally hooked. Thanks for sharing
  2. nah...not a 10lb'er...just a reporter who doesn't know any better passing on what he/she thought they heard... At least the poor guy didn't have the misfortune of being an OFC member and posting it, claiming himself that it's 10 lbs.
  3. It had to be said, and you said it just right, Dave. Excellent response...way to take the bull[crap] by the horns Uhhh...Basserone...where the heck are you, bud? Must be too busy fishing to reply, eh?
  4. I ditto the Doc's comments exactly
  5. Camped there last year...but didn't do much fishing. Looks like your classic northern smallmouth structure...I do remember the water being fairly cool though. Trout might be as high as the 30 FOW mark...good luck
  6. Very impressive...looking forward to the next reports
  7. How did they "blow you off"? Getting a letter from them explaining the same thing wouldn't have been any different, except that you'd be short one lure you can potentially repair yourself. Sure, if they were going to send a lure, why not a new one...but I doubt that the place you sent your lure to even has new ones lying around. Easier for them to give you your lure back....besides...damaged lures like that that get fixed up with your own creativity and ingenuity (ie. crazy glue) often make amazing comebacks with big fish. But, your story illustrates how we are all different. I would've sent an email asking them if it'd be worth sending in for a replacement..got my answer, and busted out the crazy glue. You sent the whole lure in...and now you're bustin' out the crazy Just kidding...sorry for your loss.
  8. Those smiles and chuckles will keep you going Wayne...remember the good times and smile every chance you get.
  9. Gotta love the multi-species action...nicely done. Believe it or not, but Bowfin is DELICIOUS! Had some deep fried, wrapped in wontons, and it was off the charts...very firm...like eating roasted pork. I would eat it again in an artery clogged heartbeat Is the set-line thing allowed, or just in certain areas? I always thought it was a no-no to leave your lines unattended/overnight?
  10. Yeah...definitely nothing wrong with hitting Lake O...nice to get the hang of downrigging where you're likely to have some results...although eating the odd fish you catch would be nice...eating guide says one meal per month from a fish less than 26"
  11. yah...thassa nice one...too bad the fish didn't check the calendar
  12. I'm thinking he's a Finn, not a Newf...and the Sauna is just out of sight
  13. waaaaiiiittt a sec....you guys have a CAKE?!! That's it, I'm IN for next year!!! Sounds like a great tourney...thanks for the post
  14. dddddddrrrrrrrrooooooooooooooooollllllllllllllllll I love your posts, Drifter
  15. I've been waiting a long time for an Aquitaine post...there really are some decent largies in there...used to go a couple days a week back in highschool..nicely done! My two favourite techniques were surface lures around the weedbeds, and splitshotting a tube jig as far out as I could cast it. What'd that one hit?
  16. I still feel guilty about tossing my 300A...don't know why on earth I didn't at least keep it for the day I have my own little man-cave with retired fishing gear on the walls.
  17. You won't know unless you try... My vote is that no, they won't be too big.
  18. Super report...looks like a great time...too bad about all the other boats...thanks for sharing Was there a bait of choice?
  19. Moonlight cruise, eh? You sly dog Very nice bass...thanks for sharing your day with us
  20. 3? 13?!? No offence, but the most fun they'll have will probably be on their own...as long as you make them think they have the freedom to go do what they want, they'll have a blast One or two half-days spent on an "outing" (go-karts, geo-caching, checking out the nearest town) will probably give you the quality time you desire, and give them the freedom they want Good luck...let us know how it goes
  21. Nice work! Definitely better than sitting at home
  22. Misfish has got you on the right track...a few years ago I went in there and the hot bait seemed to be the berkely trout mallows under a float...bright orange or pink. Just toss 'em as far out as you could...where I witnessed the most action was just past a thick weed mat, and wait. Good luck...hope you come up with a report for us
  23. Awesome colours on that brookie...since you didn't weigh or measure it, you can call it whatever you want! Since you always wear your lifejacket, just clip a small measuring tape to it
  24. If you're gonna let bass go all day long, and you're obviously gonna let sheepies go all day long...may as well go for the bigger, harder fighting fish. Assuming, of course, you're stuck in the city and have nothing better to do...I don't think I'd trade a trip up to the cottage for standing on the pier. Nice fish, CL...thanks for posting the Drum in a new light
  25. nice healthy northern smallies...thanks for rubbin THAT in our faces
