I have had an Aqua View Scout SRT going onto it's 4 season (after one replacement thanks to Bass Pro - The ON/OFF button got stuck...) And let me tell you, it is AWESOME!!! It's great for fishing in shallower water bodies (unless the water is very clear ie. Simco) to see what is going on underneath the ice, and ultimately watching fish behavior. I have never noticed the cord drawing attention, as i would see schools of fish swim around the camera with out being spooked. For deeper water where the visibility isn't so good, i'll use my Lowrance Ice Machine The Aqua View is a great investment, you'll have a ton of fun with it and you'll be amazed seeing fish coming out of no where to smack your lure. Make sure you by the tripod! Oh, yea if I have the cash I would pick up the Color Marcum camera….check that one out too!

Ok then, based on your way of thinking why don’t you ice fish with a twig and braided animal hair, or hone a stick and spear your catch? Instead of wearing a winter jacket or float suit, why don’t you rock animal hides that you had harvested by your own hands earlier that morning? Actually that would make for a great TV show…. I think you may be onto something here…. Make sure you light the fire with flint and stone, cause matches are way too simple and easy to use for you. But seriously make your contraption and report your results. Then see how much use you can get out of a paint can wood stove, and how reliable it is, how much weight it’ll be, how well it retains heat ect… I’d hate to see your reaction when you are in the middle of no where and your only source of heat falls apart because it is made of inferior materials all because you didn’t heed the advice from several more established OFNers than I. You’ll surely feel different then! All the luck to you!!!

Seems like you enjoy collecting wood and messing around with an unsafe homemade wood stove more than actually fishing. The advice given is to drop this idea and pick up simple propane heater (eg. Mr. Heater) because they are more efficient and easy to use – it’s a no brainer. Like Big Uggs’ implied, if you want to go down this route, than make one (or buy one) that is meant for this type of usage, and not MacGyver one out of trash that you don’t have a clue what they are made of and the possible re-action under flame and intense heat. The Mr. Heater products are durable, super easy to use, and light weight….why bash it if you haven’t used it? If you are concerned about running out of propane, then run one through a 20LB tank which would last you the entire season, or use it to re-fill the 1lb canisters. Personally when I’m out on the ice I’d rather be fishing than fumbling around with things. Good luck.

I disagree 100% keep 2 fish and supplement the fishery with hatchery raised fish taken from the same watershed to keep the genetics where they belong. That way everyone can have a healthy limit and fisheries remain prosperous as well. Sounds simple… I know.

Looks at Ariens snowblowers....the best quality in my opinion (and others!)

Why?

what's your favourite oil and grease for your reels

Well, for my spinning reels use quantum hot sauce and for my rod I use K-Y C'mon that was funny? -
When I went to BPS about 1-1/2 weeks ago that was the listed price $179.99 CDN Make your decision after seeing one set-up - and do it soon as these things sell out quick. Good luck

I use a Mr Heater Buddy (1lb canister size) fits nicely between 2 people in there. The Difference between the Clam 2000 and and the Clam 5600 is about 30lb, so you can see why it is harder to pull on the ice. You also have to remember that ice fishing companies will sell anything to make a buck since they know we are suckers for the latest greatest trend.

Buy a Clam 2000 Ice hut, it's nice to have a floor... I've had one for 3 years, and love it. BPS had them for $179.99 last time I was there.

Hell ya I'm going to Metallica! Lamb of God is opening too!!!! Should be an awesome show!!! However i'm more looking forward to see Slayer, since they thrash way more harder than Metallica, and simply are a way cooler band.

That new fish pose is hilarious. Looks like Solo is about to breastfeed the bow.

Watch out where thoses lures are placed, or else you won't be able to Jerk your bait again.

The Diet answer is the only one. What do Huron or GBay trout/salmon eat that makes their flesh pink/red?
