  1. yeah doing around 70 at the time, took it on the back, just finished cleaning it up, not in bad shape, no bruising i can see but since i am told it's 4 g damage i am cooking it anyway as i figure it never ate turkey that cost $200/lb
  2. my dad use to take me down along the beach in the rouge area behind manville for a bonfire and smelting as a kid
  3. thanks gonna try that
  4. havn't had a smelt feed in years, yumm, have to get out one day for em, i would imagine the run is happening soon
  5. Just smoked a wild turkey on the way to work and it's a biggun as well say 18-20 lbs well since it's done a couple g's damage to the truck i am cooking it up, Big cliff already told me how to clean it, not sure on the cooking part though
  6. yup lots of sunnys around and active, crappies havn't really got into them yet on sturgeon water temps were in the mid 50's last week and were between 42 and 52 on sunday depending on what part of the lake i was exploring
  7. well cliff while i sit here at 6:30 ish sipping the morning java, loading the boat up and will maybe see ya out there just after 7 gonna be 16c today according to the weather network
  8. you could also stop by a local marina/boat dealer they may have " a last years model" for cheap, picked up a maxxum 3 years ago from a marina that used to be a lund dealer brand new in box for 450 cash
  9. sounds likw the filter is plugging up to me, but also a 12 year old fuel line is probably breaking down inside as well or possible small crack in pick up tube in tank or sock on pick up in tank is dirty, borrow a tank and line and try it if it still does it put in a fuel filter. seafoam is a good idea for maintenance as well
  10. yup the "secret spot" isn't so secret anymore, gonna get that side scan going and find them in some other locations this year, thanks for sharing cliff, i may get out tomorrow, planned today but lost the water in the house just as i was getting ready to leave
  11. read your post sounds like you don't know the price of the product elsewhere but think your getting ripped, if it's last years model so it's still new right? can't figure what your peeved about
  12. i have dealt with Cabela's in the past and have no complaints about products services or price, before you go off and rant about a company ripping you off maybe you should shop around first then come back and rant
  13. good to see you got it figured out Lew, i imagine your gonna get the boat out now and catch some bait. Next time just call me, youngs point is a nice little drive from here when you want to play with your electrical system
  14. Lew check all the fuses, if there is a relay in the circuit it could be on another fuse, is there a wiring diagram sticker anywhere? i have one in my bilge area that comes in handy for electrical gremlins also check for a connector off, many boats just have push on connectors that come loose easily
  15. my bass boat is covered under my home policy about 100 bux extra a year, phone your insurance company your home policy covers you automatically depending on the size of your motor, my policy was no charge up to 25 hp then added extra from there
  16. my ranger has a separator/fuel filter in it, but also when my tanks are full a big wave or bump in the road some fuel will spill out of the vent/overflows i would guess that if fuel can get out water could get in, either way the spin on filter is 10 bux a year
  17. Several weeks ago was in canandian tire pick some things up and seen the sale on GRIP-TITE sockets for 20 bux. figure wth can't have to many ways to remove stripped/rotted/rounded fastners in a mechanics tool box and if they save my butt once they paid for themselves, after using them they work as advertised, once on a sway link nut that was stripped, survived a 3/8 impact gun abuse and the one that impressed me was on a 1999 corolla needind an o2 sensor yesterday, the guys in the trade will know what i mean by the term threaded rivets, there was nothing left of the nuts holding the sensor on the pipe tapped a griptite socket on came right off (or what was left) i think these things have paid for themselves in that one usuage
  18. I looked it up quickly in the catalog and direct fit cats from maremont left side 449 right side 660 for cats and walker were 556 each, direct fit muffler ranged from 118-185 mide pipe 140ish tail pipe 40, it can add up quickly. universal cats were 150 each but not much good if the pipes are rotted where it attaches, can always try a muffler shoop like thruway or noyzboyz may be able to custom bend one up for a much more reasonable price
  19. since there was 18-20 inches last week in the main areas you could be waiting another 2 weeks at least
  20. http://www.midnorthmonitor.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=3493288 another rescue story
  21. another great one gone, made some great tunes
  22. got the batterys charging for the ranger right now cliff, i see any open water will down to pick you u up lol who knows crossed sturgeon lake in my pick up on sunday found 20 inches of ice off the golf course be around a couple weeks yet
  23. shortsighted at best, only looking at the money today, not concerned about the money tomorrow
  24. thanks for sharing Greg, that's a pig of a laker and no doubt the years of hard work and planning show off on every report you make, well deserved fish
  25. decided to give the sled (and my back) a break from trail riding this weekend, loaded the gmc up and went a fishin, finally found some live weeds, set up on a 5-9 ft drop with lots a green weeds around noon today punched about 12 holes and set 2 windlass tip ups and two jigging rods, moved around a bit but managed around 50 perch today 35 keepers not bad for 3 hours of fishing, ice was at least 20 inches thick fish started biting at 12-18 inches off bottom and after a walleye or two made a guest apperance the fish were staying locked to the bottom
