Great report and pics Double O!!! Those are a couple of very respectable Crappie! That Wall-ice is about the same size as my first ever, caught last year. The good thing about catchin' them that size is... they can only get bigger!!!

I don't think he was familiar with handling Pike or how ill tempered they can be. I'll bet that bite leaves a mark that won't soon go away, just think of all the little teeth that broke off in there and the infection that probably set in!

If you think that's scarey, you ought to try running a 50 hook trot line (it's legal here) in the wee hours of the morning by moonlight with everything completely calm and quiet around you. You can feel some thing big on the line and you're taking the 1 and 2 lb. catfish off the hooks wondering where the big one is, and all of a sudden one of those Snappers the size of a #3 wash tub will surface and hiss at ya with a hook in his mouth! If that doesn't make you soil yourself, nothing will!

Murphy's Law says you should see a price drop just before the USD rebounds, and then all the prices will shoot back up a heckuva lot faster than they dropped.

Maybe they should be called the 5 gallon bucket brigade (that would be 19 liters in Hoser speak). As far as I can tell by looking at the regs, there aren't any size or creel limits on Sunfish and a lot of places don't have any limits on Crappie or Perch. If there aren't any limits on the fish these people are taking, then they aren't doing anything wrong! We have the 5 gallon bucket people down here too, and the thing that bothers me the most about them is that they let those fish set in those buckets for hours... with and without water in them. By the time they get the fish home, they're stiff as boards and have started the decaying process. I'm sure they still eat them, but that's just plain nasty to me! Buy a cooler and put those fish on ice!!!

What does BASCAR mean?... define please...

I've hook a minnow or 2 in my lifetime and have found that inserting the hook point thru a nostril and pushing the hook down to come out under the jaw keeps minnows alive the longest. After you've hooked a few of them you will find the spot that offers the least resistance to the hook, this is the sweet spot. This is a bare hook rig and not intended for a leadhead jig because the minnow will be upsidedown on a jig, but on a bare hook the minnow will "right" itself or try to and give a lot of swimming on it's side action that is indicative of a wounded/distressed minnow.

That sounds like some real tough fishin'. I think you may have had better luck if you had targeted Walleye instead of Pickeral. Your persistence paid off with those 2 very nice Musky! Next time try to pay closer attention to what H2 does and try to duplicate it as closely as possible, I think you could learn a lot from her expertise!

I believe it should be the fishermans moral responsibility to wash all of his own equipment after fishing contaminated waters if he is going to fish an uncontaminated water. Get a big sponge and a bucket of soapy water ya lazy S.O.B!
