  1. Nice, good to see they are making little ones.
  2. X2, solder and get shrink tube with the built in sealer.
  3. I don't believe it's right, every time we turn around, government at whatever level has their dam fingers in our wallets. Sure some will say it's only a coffee a day, in the end they will slowly put everyone at a financial wall. Since Essa came up with the fee, I have not wet a line there, they can go pound pinecones.
  4. I've had my hands on 2, an older 8x8 that was a royal pita, it had the older style axles with roll pins to secure the sprockets to the drive line. If one goes, the rest are on the way out. You need 3 left hands and an extreme amount of patience to fix those. Then I had a 2001(used but low hours) 6x6 Bigfoot. It came with most of the accessories, tracks, extra wheels and tires, top, bilge pump, windshield and OB motor bracket. The original owner hadn't done the carb maintenance and until that was rectified it ran horrible. Once that was corrected it was ok. The only weird thing about them, the carb/govenor setup seems off and every time you made a left turn or accelerated, it wanted to die out. It didn't have an accelerator pump in the system. You had to learn to feather the throttle a bit. You won't set any speed records, 30km/h on land, if you have an electric ob, a little better than rowing speed. Lake fishing isn't advisable unless it's flat calm. It doesn't have any suspension other than the tires. Now for the good, even without tracks, it's pretty good in the swamp, put the tracks on and you can tackle just about anything except for speed. Maintenance is a fair bit easier on the newer ones, axles are splined with set screws. The alternators are bigger for accessory power like the winch. I had my fun with it, sold it and went with a 550 Yamaha ATV. One thing to note is they're heavy and if I'm not mistaken, they're still not allowed on ATV trails due to width and weight. You really have to do your homework before you take the plunge. Here's a site you get can get a lot of answers. http://www.route6x6.com/discus/messages/5/249.html?0
  5. Yes, theft. If you're that concerned, gets some pics and call your MNR(DNR down there). Wouldn't be surprised if the guy finds out, the pilot will have a couple of flat tires and sweet gas.
  6. Today I witnessed another tragedy while at work. About 8 this morning while driving the Base boundary roads, I was passing by a couple of houses on the other side of the fence line on the country road. While looking over at the houses, noted a women opened the front door and let her dog out, probably for the morning pee. For whatever reason, the dog took off at full speed towards the road. It's not a heavily traveled road, 80km/h speed limit, but at the most unfortunate time a passing pick up came by and struck the dog, death was most likely instant, no crying or whimpering. The driver had locked up the brakes and was very close to loosing control, must have been a stroke of luck the driver maintained control instead of ending up in the big trees. The driver didn't stop, just left the scene. The worst part, the dogs owner had seen the whole event and understandably went into a writhing fit of cry and screaming. Her daughter came out and then both went to recover the dogs remains. Think of it, a simple click of the leash or having a dog(cat) run would have prevented that animals death and owners grief. Whether you're out in the country or suburbia, two to three tons of vehicle against an animal are no match. Was the driver going too fast, definitely not. Was the driver maybe not paying attention, I doubt it. At a speed of 80km/h 50mph, you're going about 50 feet per second. Knowing your average reaction time is about 3/4 of a second at best, that driver had probably already hit the dog before getting his foot near the brake. I'm glad the driver didn't loose it and and end up in the woods. That could have been another tragedy. Should the driver have stopped, yes. Then again, maybe he thought he hit one of the local coyotes, same colour as the dog and about the same size. Not that this event will play on my mind for long, I'm a bit thick skinned. It's just something for pet owners to ponder.
  7. Iodine is an essential part of diet required for the thyroid. Being "landlubbers" so to speak we need it, if you live by the oceans not as much.
  8. Thanks for the info, I had aspirations of going to rent a hut from them, not happening now.
  9. I have one of those smaller black plastic boxes they use for break down shotguns, foam lined. I use it for ice fishing rods and unfortunately lost one of the plastic clips that keeps it shut. Emailed them and requested a replacement at my cost and shipping. Got a quick email back, they will be sent to you at company expense. Today I got 4 in the mail, no charge. Good company that helps out the customer.
  10. I bought mine on line for about $35 about 3 years ago. You can call these guys in Mississausage
  11. It does both engine rpm and time of use.
  12. You may be interested in this, I have a similar one. Simple one wire attachment that wraps around any of the spark plug wires. No power required. You can stick it to the tiller with 2 sided 3M tape. http://www.outdoorpowerdeals.com/tt2am-hour-meter-by-tiny-tach-reset-able-job-timer-for-marine-engines/
  13. God that's awful, so sad for your familys loss Paul, always remember her as a friendly person.
  14. That's why I have a self centering roller at the back, marvelous item.
  15. Hope yours runs better than the 3 we have at work, wind noise is crazy, the seats are one level below unupholstered milk crates, drive line vibration is crazy and I'd rather drive a 5 speed unsynchronized crash box.
  16. Made a good deal at CTC Barrie south, Salus 1200 float coat on clearance, reg $320 down to $159 and used my Xmas gift card, walked out $80 tax in. they had a couple more larges and mediums, no XL, I got last XXL.
  17. The boat is a 16' Princecraft Starfish tiller, I added my own floors. I carry the regular downrigging stuff, FF, radio, etc. Since there was no listing for recommended props for my boat, the dealer started me off with a 10 3/4 x 17P, far too much pitch. I went down one size to a 10 3/4 x 16P, was a tiny bit better. Finally went to an 11 1/8 x 13P and it's not at max listed rpm yet. I can get down to about 2mph with 2 people in the boat although I may buy a spare and go one size further down yet to 11 5/8 x 11P for when I'm alone downrigging. With the present prop I hit about 40 km/h when there's a ripple on the water, I don't like beating the boat in the waves. http://yamahaoutboards.com/sites/default/files/pdfs/Four-Stroke-F60-T25.pdf
  18. If the wind isn't too bad it might but how safe is another situation. Close to shore fine but I wouldn't hit the middle.
  19. Well it hasn't been really all that cold so far. Bit of a dip coming and then it warms up again.
  20. They managed to drag it back out with a couple other Bombies. Ya, I can imagine without floats.
  21. I've got the same one, 3 years old, runs like a top, idles like a dream with the electronic idle control. Power assist is a 2 finger assist up or down. It runs soooo quiet. I had to try a couple different props at first. The one they gave me had way too high of a pitch, couldn't get slow enough for trolling and wouldn't get close to top rpm. Let me know if you want the size number I have, I'll have to check.
