  1. Well for line, depends what you are fishing for, the small stuff like perch, 4lb line will suffice, lakers and whities, 6-8lb will do. I prefer the Berkley mono lines, each to his own. As for hooks, don't waste your money on bent nails and bobby pins, go with quality hooks like Gamakatsu, Daiichi, much much sharper. Again, for the small fish, #6 hooks are my main ones, #8 if they're finicky. For the larger fish, I stick to #4. I hook my minnows through the back, right behind the dorsal fin and above the lateral line, keeps them lively and swimming around, looks more like an injured baitfish trying to escape from becoming lunch.
  2. I'm only taking a guess at this, but what's the possibility that the motor had been activated once before the chain was added over the sprocket. In that case, the next function the motor would do is go in the opposite direction, hence trying to close an already closed door. Set the motor, the track, the trolley and the end pulley on the ground as if it were all together with the door attached and do an activation. If it goes wrong again, quickly unplug the motor, take of the chain and plug it back in and let it go through its cycle. Then you should be at the right start point.
  3. Just one of those moments when you're up in the tree stand "all alone" with nothing but your thoughts, I guess.
  4. Like Ron said, lower to bottom, jiggle an inch up, wait a second, jiggle another inch up, etc, after 10-12 inches lower back down. It was a real frustrating time getting the hang of it, but they do work once you have the twitch mastered.
  5. I got the same one with the 100' cable for $269 brand new, not a refurb. So far I'm happy with it, used it a number of times in Simcoe at the Centennial Park area for perch fishing this fall. It really lets you try out all sorts of different action to get the Perch to bite, little jiggy, longer sweeps, whatever it takes. To be carfule with the cable, I had the cable slid through a piece of 1/4" split wire loom to keep it from rubbing on the side of the boat. Ice fishing last winter was okay too, but I'm going to make or buy a small tripod for the camera to sit close to the bottom and keep it in the direction I want. Lastly, I'm just about done painting the wooden box for it, keep it from getting slammed around. I'll put a bit of foam in there for cushioning.
  6. One small point of fact, battery chargers should put out no more than what's called "C/10" of a batterys amperage. Therefore, a small 12V 7Amp battery should not be charged by a charger with a greater output than .7amps or 700mA. C/10 is capacity divided by 10 or 10% of the batterys capacity. BPS has the small 500mA chargers. Even at full discharge, don't leave the charger on for longer than 10-12 hours. Just trying to save you a buck.
  7. A garbage bag or plastic grocery bag should be a part of everyones tackle.
  8. Ya, you're right, some should have it stapled to their forehead.
  9. Oh, there's already been one checking out Simcoe somewhere around Glenwoods, nuts.
  10. Ha, makes for a priceless photo story, next time watch the spices in the roebags, poor bird got a bad case of "ring on fire".
  11. Thanks Rattletrap2, turn of the 110 to the furnace and for good luck, set it back to pilot before I stick my nose anywhere close to the burners. I'll see what I can check out with the flex mirror.
  12. Maybe 2 nights at -20, but even then, you really want to know where the main current runs throught there.
  13. Small world Wayne, that fellow was related to one of the guys at work here, orinally from Elmvale.
  14. Ratletrap2: First, nice write up, second, I also have an older, 1983 standing pilot type gas furnace. You mentioned to look for possible forming cracks in the heat exchanger. Dumba** question, but how do you see them without dismantling the furnace? I can see where the open flame goes up into the exchanger, what about the sides and top? How do you access that area? I clean mine out every year, long brushes similar to barrel brushes for a shotgun, couple of drops of oil for the motor shaft. BTW, I don't have AC or a humidifier on the system if it makes any difference.
  15. Castaway: I used to fly planes, gave it up a while back. Helo's are a bit more difficult unless you have the advanced integrated system that allows you to fly 1 stick instead of 2. You might also want to consult the local club about the MAAC insurance to save your bacon if you experience flying into some Cumulo-Granite clouds, a.k.a. somebodys car or personal stuff.
  16. Born in Scarborough, moved to Highland Creek, Pickering, Orono(Oshawa Ski Hill), Cornwallis, Borden, Bagotville, Moisie(Sept Iles), Calgary, Borden, Shilo, final stop, Angus.
  17. What I hate is when they tell you how to do something they are totally incapable of doing themselves, you should do this, you should do that.
  18. I would be a little shy, sometimes it pays to have a slightly larger displacement motor that doesn't have to work as hard and still maintain decent mileage. And yes, I have heard the same story, remove cab to replace engine, but I don't know if it applies to all models.
  19. Somebody close to London lend Slowpoke a high powered snowblower so he can retrun his neighbours favour.
  20. Just for trivia, the louder the noise woodpeckers make like rapping on rain gutters, metal chimnies, metal stand-offs on hydro poles, the "larger" their marked territory is.
  21. Okay, pay attention, first impression, everyones trying to be funny, but I think what Matthew is trying to elude to is: Does the size matter to you when it comes to transducers, ie, would a bigger size transducer get in your way while ice fishing or would a bigger transducer cause problems behind your boat. For me, if the transducer would provide more info, fine, maybe double in size to obtain twice the info may be acceptable.
  22. Jiffy #30, excellent, drilled more holes than a mad pack of termites in balsa.
  23. Ditto: The worst mistake I ever made was selling the slide in. Should have kept it for the "father & son" fishing and hunting trips, maybe I'll find another or build one to suit.
  24. This should take you right to the video of it in action. http://www.honda-marine.com/modelDetail.as...odelGroup=BF20# A shoot, then go to features and chick on the play power tilt video.
