Yes you definitely want to have a copy of that paper with you in the boat. Get a small "dry box" copies of fishing licence, boat ownership, safe boater certificate all go in there and stay there.

For the trailer, maybe replace the tires and bearings if they need it, wiring, make sure the lights all work. For the motor, get the prop rebuilt, even though it's only little dings, balance is important, it only takes a little longer for a dinged prop to screw up the lower unit, do the oil and impeller. For the boat, it looks alright, maybe just some minor shining up.

One item that should be on every boat in open water is a VHF radio, and pay attention to the weather broadcast..often, and learn how to use what it's intended for.

A couple things to remember, much more than 7X (the power of magnification, first number) you need to be really steady otherwise the shakes become pronounced. The the bigger the second number is, the better the light gathering quality is, ie, a 7x50 pair has a light factor of 7.1 versus a 10x40 which only has a factor of 4.0. Big difference under early morning, late evening light conditions. Stay away from the C junk. Japanese or German optics are best.

Nut & bolt with a rubber washer on each side, lot easier to remove than dried in epoxy or other goop. Make the washers from and old piece of tire tube or use fender washers with a garden hose washer under it, guaranteed no leaks.

Optima, way over rated, unless you plan on boating upside down it's just a gimmick which way you can mount them. Go to a battery shop and talk to them, Group size batteries are pretty much standard (dimensional and output) and quite a number of them will put out more current than Optimas ever will. A couple of "real" deep cycle Trojans or Odysey will do better. Those little round labels the batteries have on them like "05/09" means the battery was last charged in May of 2009, get the closest to your buying date if possible. Idle batteries sulfate and deteriorate if not maintained. Cheers.

There were about a dozen 2002/03 skidoos, exOPP units, most were in pretty good shape, minor cosmetic stuff, one had no coils(probably another $400+ for them) and one other one looked a bit questionable. If the prices had been like one of the last auctions(around $1200-1800) for those skidoos, then it's a good deal. Most of these ones started at $1600 and then went up crazy. One went for over $3K, nuts.
