  1. With the very sad personal views and biting sarcasm (some go beyond this definition and I don't consider it passion), Matt is not the only Sens fan. I just choose not to participate in these discussions.
  2. I have a Simms G4 that has a few years on it. The original was returned due to material defect. The second jacket has been good but is showing signs of wear. I did purchase a Patagonia River Salt jacket a few years ago and IMO this jacket is superior to the Simms. As for the cost, Patagonia has a fall and a spring sale where this jacket may be on sale and if so it is for 40% off regular price.
  3. Work Authority at the Tanger Outlet stores apparently carries them.
  4. No binding solution in making pellets. Pressure formed.
  5. From Collins Bay Creek to the Trent River and all flows in between receive steelhead and salmon; however, the runs are small in comparison to the flows directly into the main body of Lake O. I come across folks who catch them in adjacent water to the Lake but they are incidental catches.
  6. Well records can be obtained for a fee through Ministry of Environment Conservation and Parks. 2 Imperial Gallons per Minute will provide a household supply adequately. Obtain analyses for basic water well parameters through a private lab and review results against Ontario Drinking Water parameters to determine whether treatment is required. Bacti analyses can be obtained at no charge through the local health unit. Well construction should meet Ontario water well standards. see link for useful info https://www.ontario.ca/page/wells-your-property Septic system construction records can be obtained through the local approving agency (many cases it is the Health Unit). Conventional systems(tank and bed)have a life of 25 years. Frequency of tank pumping is dependent on tank size and number of occupants. Health Unit can provide recommendations.
  7. An alternative? http://www.centerpinangling.com/accessories.html
  8. I still run my pin most times; however, I always bring along my spinning outfit as on several occasions that's was what was working. Just like golfing.........one rod is not the sole solution.
  9. No one that I have spoken to who used the Kast gloves liked them. I use the extream Simms gloves on windy days or a pair of thick lined fingerless rag wool gloves on calm days.
  10. The Gan launch is not the greatest due to distance to parking. I launch at the Grass Creek site (free) in Kingston and work my way downstream hitting a number of musky spots along the way to Forty Acre shoal. https://www.cityofkingston.ca/residents/recreation/parks-trails/grass-creek-park
  11. Low water in the fall and bluebird skies has always brought out those with poor angling skills to 'catch' a salmon. I'm not convinced there are more doing so than in the past (35 years). It is unpleasant to watch. As for the FB sites, I have also joined a few but dropped those where it was evident that flossing was mostly everyone's MO.
  12. Sufix ProMix 10 lb is my choice after trying out several mono lines.
  13. Excellent lm and sm bass. Fair lake trout and pike.
  14. For my 16.5 ft boat, I use 3 sections of electrical conduit into which I insert fiberglass tent poles to provide additional rigidity. The boat cover straps are drawn tight, providing a nice domed cover.
  15. I still have the original box it came in. I invert the box over the smoker which increases the smoke contact time and shortens the drying period.

  17. Consider this location http://ontarioconservationareas.ca/component/mtree/conservation-authorities-of-ontario/quinte/vanderwater-conservation-area it is no longer maintained & access is free. Few folks use the site. There are several spots along the shore to picnic with plenty of smbass action. The small falls area also offers a large area to walk and fish. About 20 minutes north of Belleville.
  18. Canadian Tire also carries the re-arm kit.
  19. Make sure you cook and eat that banana before your next excursion, or else......................
  20. Acme Kamlooper spoon - This was my first 'lure' when I began fishing 50 years ago and it has never disappointed.
  21. Float the Saugeen with someone that can pick you up downstream (several locations) depending on how far you want to go. Plenty of bass along with musky to keep you going. The Teeswater has some pike to play with right in town.
  22. bottom bouncer with chartreuse blade spinner rig equipped with a stinger hook and dressed with a large minnow was my searching tool when I fished this lake. Then a switch to 3/8 jig once contact was made. Northeast arm of the lake was my go-to.
  23. FYI regarding CO powers. Note that they require a warrant for a building used as a dwelling. The powers afforded to Provincial Officers under the Environmental Protection Act, Ontario Water Resources Act, Pesticides Act (to name a few) are much stronger than the provisions for the CO, Ontario Fire Inspector. Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act Search warrants, further search powers, etc.91. (1) A conservation officer may obtain a search warrant under Part VIII of the Provincial Offences Act. Searches without warrant(2) If a conservation officer believes on reasonable grounds that there is in a building or other place any thing that will afford evidence of an offence under this Act but that the time required to obtain a search warrant would lead to the loss, removal or destruction of the evidence, the conservation officer may, without a search warrant, enter and search the building or other place. Dwellings(3) Subsection (2) does not apply to a building or part of a building that is being used as a dwelling.
