  1. Hard to beleive but didn't even breakout the rod. Just a camping/hiking trip with my son.
  2. Nice Laker Dana. That second photo is a funny one
  3. I'll meet you on Songis Road first Saturday morning in June
  4. Looks like a great trip. Joe is one of my favourite smallmouth lakes. The Park is addicting
  5. They get onto the seeps where springs are entering the river and then come fall they stay for the mating. I've been trying really hard for the MNR(Bug my Bio Friends) to do a radio telemetry study on Canadian Shield River Brook Trout and their seasonal movements but it strictly for selfish reasons and they know it.
  6. Nice first report but Bill is right its a lake trout.Hope to see more reports and feel free to ask questions we have a great community here
  7. My hammock is a Jungle Hammock http://www.mosquitohammock.com/junglehammock.html
  8. Just an amazing fish. Thank you for handling her with such care. I'm jealous.
  9. I've spent this summer using my hammock tent and for those who have trouble getting comfortable camping I can't recommend hammocks enough. No more hard ground Went hiking this weekend and slept like a baby( a rather large gassy baby but nonetheless) My palace The lake at the summit Still warm enough for a swim though
  10. Oh God Chad That River will be teeming with nice fish come black fly season. I find its only the smaller fish that come around in the fall in Canadian Shield rivers. Third week of May till second week of June I can see some 16" + fish coming out of that river. YOUR PROPERTY think of that. Jealous brother
  11. Yet suprisingly not one PM. So exploratory trip starting at midnight tonight when I get off work
  12. I want to get as far away from here as possibe. Going to go up to the Webbwood area. If your in Kitchener, Grand river in either direction!!
  13. I always try to include important info for noobs and I figured with Salmon Steelhead season just around the corner I'd post a tool that I started using years ago when I use to steelhead. Now I use it for river smallmouth and musky fishing to check water levels. It gives you the water levels for the past 4 or 5 days so you can tell if the river you want to fish is going to be prime or not. http://www.wateroffice.ec.gc.ca/text_search/search_e.html?search_by=p&region=ON Every water level reader in the province is included so you should be able to find your home water. Used it on the weekend to finally find a creek that I had been waiting for the water level to drop and clear all summer. It resulted in my son and I's best day of smallmouth fishing this year and my best an 18 incher for this season My boat motor seized on the weekend so if anyone can point me in a direction within 10 hrs of KW with some decent shore/bellyboat fishing(Any gamefish species) for the weekend I would be eternally grateful(PM's of coarse)
  14. Thanks, yes by all means eat species while there is plenty and protect it when its in danger. For me I'm not so much into raping the environment as I am into giving it a loving shag on the weekend and leaving it a nice note saying I'll give it a call sometime but never really intend to unless I'm drunk and can't find anyone else to go out with.
  15. Very short sighted opinion IMHO. Fish have a value outside of whether or not you can angle for them. They are part of a ecological chain that has existed for millions of years until we showed up and decimated their population with harvest and environmental degradation. You can't shoot peregrine falcons yet they "waste" money reintroducing them to downtown Toronto. Fisherman despite this boards egocentric opinion are not the only users of the environment. Knowing that sturgeon are there and part of a healthy balanced biology is all I need.
  16. I use basically three lures for musky fishing. A Custom ZoomR(jerk bait) Double cowgirl(Bucktail) and a Doc(Musky sized spook, a top water) Use them all about equally, Will do my milk run, change do it again change and do it again.
  17. I generally name my spots after people Ive fished them with or something unique that happened there. Banana Hole,Robbies Run, Power Grub riffle etc.
  18. Thanks for the report Looks like you had a good time.
  19. Musky Fishing isn't about day trips on Georgian Bay. You need to fish consecutive days in hopes of being on the right peice of water at the right time. The KW chapter of MCI use to hold their outings out of Honey harbour and we could go years without a single fish being caught by 20 + boats. Now when a fish gets caught its normally a very big fish but if your only interested in catching a musky I suggest the Kawarthas not Georgian Bay.Baits catch fisherman not Musky. Fish a bait you have confidance in and keep it in the water.
  20. Man river smallmouth fishing has sure been tough this year

    1. spincast

      Musky or Specks

I guess I'm spoiled by the last few years of nothing but 3o fish days

  21. This is an awesome report Thanks. That Superior pic looks like Katherine Cove Beautiful beach. One of these days I'll have to get to LOTW but everytime I think about it Georgian Bay and Nipigon are closer and get in the way.
  22. No matter what boat I'm in chances are there is emissions. Those are some nice hoggs. That one pic of your buddy looks like Indian Pond.
