  1. Today I was blowing out my drive when my neighbor came out of her house in her stocking feet waving her arms in the air. I shut down the blower so I could here her better. She was yelling the house was on fire,oh crap !! Sure enough there was smoke coming out the front door so I ran in to see how bad it was. The fireplace was engulfed in flames licking to the ceiling....No fire extinguisher, and no way to get water to it so I told her to hold the front door open and step back. I took a snow shovel and started shoveling snow from the front of the house in through her living room and dumped in on the fire. Seemed to be working so I continued until the flames came down and eventually went to a smolder. I think that took about five minutes and then I could here the fire engines in the back ground...The whole time I was taking big breaths of air every time I went out for more snow because the house was totally filled with smoke. When the fire department arrived the fire was pretty much out due to the melting snow. Just thought I'd share that with you guys.....Heres a pic of one of the fire units in front of my driveway and another next door with the fire fighters....
  2. Northernboy, We fish for them now and again on the west arm of Nipissing. Most of the time in the summer you will find them in back bays in the shallows. On approach they will look like small pieces of timber lined up in the shallow water but when you get closer you will be able to distinguish fish from wood. Ok,so heres the way we do it. Enter small back bay and shut of motor not to spook the gar. Paddle in slowly until you can make out the gar lying just under the surface in the shallows. Use spinning rod with single hook no leader no weight. Thread minnow through the lips so he can swim around a little and cast this gently towards the gar without spooking them. Stealth is the key to this type of gar fishing in Nipissing. If you need to know more about these back bay locations PM me
  3. Hi Riley Welcome to our fishing board My dog Sam used to barf in our car when he was a puppy but the more we took him out in the car the less he got sick. It took a little while but now he loves going for car rides especially to the doggy park. Looking forward to your posts Riley
  4. I make my own beer but when I want something extra special I buy a beer called Iron Spike. The micro brewery is in St Thomas just down the road from London. http://www.railwaycitybrewing.com/index.htm
  5. Heres another thing that made my old Craftsman blower run funny. In the throttle/choke box there are two wires. One going to the choke and the other to the throttle. Take off the box and inspect the wires for loose connectors or signs of shorting out. If one or the other is shorting out this "may" make your blower shut down after it warms up just after start up or do things like not throttle down or choke properly or run at all. Good Luck !!
  6. Ya sure is..I think he mentioned Superior in that video if I'm not mistaken.
  7. Welcome aboard Pikeslayerjr.
  8. If this guy can land a fish this big without a rod and reel through the ice, well I'm impressed
  9. I wonder what kind of line they are using
  10. One of the girls at work were handing out Christmas treats, you know carrot cakes and cookies and stuff..Well I took a carrot cake square of her platter and popped it into my mouth all at once and to my dismay I started to feel the presence of a piece of hair in this square and the hole time I'm trying not to gag cause she is standing there in front of me with this big Christmassy smile looking for recognition of the tasty treat she had just given me all the while I'm trying to choke down this bundle of hair in my square....Well,I managed to swallow that hair infested square and thanked her for the lovely treat. Lesson learned.........

  20. Ok,now I remember, you did mention that up in the thread somewhere already, sorry. So once again the heavier application is the ticket then. This really seems to be the pattern here. Like you said though, your not spooling up with the stuff but rather using a section at the end of your main line...
  21. Personally I get the impression they are just under a lot of imformation overload. They basically tell you stuff that they hope will be correct if the guy next to him or her is doing there job correctly and so on.I'm sure like anywhere else key stroke errors go unnoticed in heat of the moment when theres lines of people breathing down your throat. Not trying to make excuses for them but I can only imagine how it must be dealing with the public at times...
