  2. I remember jumping - diving off the docks at camps in Point Au Baril in July and August, that surface water was comfortable, but once you got down 6-8 feet it was like hitting an ice cube! Lake Ontario is a deep lake, it's going to take some time for anything other than the first few feet of surface waters to warm up? Lure choices? any steelhead I kept for a meal here was stuffed with baitfish, minnows, shad, small perch, something that imitated them would be my choice.
  3. Way to go guys! Looks like a fun trip!
  4. Spawning season is over, nice to see them reproduce and continue the musky stories and catches?
  5. I saw a guy at Pointe Au Baril one time with a 19-20 inch largemouth a muskie grabbed, it was ripped from it's gill plates back. He didn't get a hook in it and when he got it near the boat it let go and swam away, he said it was huge, I believed him!
  6. I'm old and had fished for a long time, I knew when too much weight could be an issue for a rod. I have a spinning rod that was made on a flipping stick blank, it is rated at like 3/8ths to 1 1/2 ounce lures, I very rarely used anything over 3/16ths ounce on it. That recommended weight is usually a clue to the rod's stiffness and how easily it will be to fish heavier cover with it.
  7. Muskie have a hard time recovering from a lengthy fight, you want to land and release as quickly as possible. That bass was on the small size for muskie bait!
  8. Yep! That's the one I have, in a couple of sizes and colors.
  9. I think it's our water! We need Canada's!
  10. http://www.newswest9.com/story/32203603/the-latest-5-found-shot-to-death-in-new-mexico-home The higher the body count the more news coverage.
  11. Have you seen some of the handguns available to the public here? Police and military style with 15 to 30 round magazines you can change out in a few seconds? and no limit on how many magazines you can buy or own? At close range, as in a nightclub or school, they are just as deadly as an assault rifle. You need a license and testing here to drive a vehicle, but not to own a gun, but what is a test for crazy?
  12. http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/crawler-worm-harness/195903.aspx Don't know if this is the same? In the closeout bin? For some of those small companies an out of business sale might be cheaper than fixing a problem?
  13. I wouldn't need this! https://www.gofundme.com/wcz53dce
  14. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=changing+the+bellows+on+a+merc+i%2Fo There is information.
  15. You might look on youtube and see if there are any videos showing how to do it? It could make deciding on a diy project easier? I had a 1975 SeaRay with a Merc I/O, don't know what has changed, but they had to be in forward gear when you removed the out drive or were a real pain to get back together.
  16. good tunes
  17. I don't know Lake St Clair, but Lake Erie was a no no with a 20 mile an hour breeze in my 17 footer.
  18. RIP Photoz!
  19. I have a couple in the barn that have a metal lip, jointed, I got them back in the 1980's. I think they were intended as salt water lures, deep divers. They looked like something a walleye or pike would eat.
  20. http://boatpropellers.iboats.com/Yamaha/30_HP_%281983-2002%29_9.00-Pitch_Amita_3211-099-09_Propeller/391/8531/?cart_id=541172971 I'm not sure how to search for the exact match and it is in US dollars, check bps or cabelas for a price?
  21. I have used Interstate and Nautilus deep cycle boat batteries, I always got a lot more than a year out of them, usually 4-5, and I spent a lot of time on the electric motor. Have your purchase receipts? some have pro rated warranties after a year?
  22. Detroit was known as Murder City back in the day, a pistol grip handle might have kept the bad guys at bay?
  23. Braided line back then was far different than the braids of today! Nylon and Dacron were soft, I used both as a kid on my casting reels, early mono had a tendency to be stiff, I never even liked using a spinning reel because of it, then Berkley introduced the original Trilene, which was much better.
  24. Braided line was the " thing " in those days, mono-filament was a new deal and was rarely seen on anything but a spinning reel. Nylon or Dacron braid, Dacron didn't have much stretch.
  25. I used to cross at the Fort Erie Peace Bridge and take the road alongside the river on our trips to the falls. Sometimes we would stop at one of the pull offs there and take a closer look at the river, that current is pretty impressive! As I recall there were places were you could see weeds in the water (summer-fall), so the water couldn't have been all that deep? Less than 15 feet? If you're after walleye, and this early in the year? There is probably not a good reason for them to be parked on the bottom? It's not like the water is warm? Try casting a heavier jig and grub tipped with a piece of crawler or minnow?
