  1. ht tps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beer_Hall_Putsch LOL, coincidence? Look at the date.
  2. Steve, my original garage door was some sort of pressed board, even with 3 coats of paint on it, it would absorb water and blow out the gears in my garage door opener, it was also a craftsman. It was easy to replace the gears, they were plastic, and when my ex hit the garage door with her van I replaced the door with a metal one, and haven't had a gear break in 13 years or so.
  3. This may have been a message to both political parties here, a non politician wins? Maybe it's time for them to stop concentrating on what they want? and start showing more concern about what the people want? He took a lot of rust belt states, I don't think a lot of people were down with Washington's trade deals? We have managed to survive every president so far?
  4. Marina is a pretty generic term, some have a lot more pilings and things like boathouses, you want to try to keep a hooked fish away from those. Wire leader or fluorocarbon for pike, even a smaller one can gulp a pretty big minnow.
  5. What he is saying makes a lot of sense.
  6. The only shad I have seen in Lake Erie are gizzard shad, they are usually gray-blueish, and don't look like the ones in Art's link, the only ones I have caught were accidentally snagged while fishing for other species. I guess they are very susceptible to rapid changes in water temperatures, and we get some pretty big die offs of them on this side of the lake. LOL, I have hooked more dead ones than live ones.
  7. You're doing good! We have had a few heavy frosts and all my tree leaves are changing!
  8. Years ago the Humming Bird I bought with my boat started developing small crack like things in the screen, mine was out of warranty. I felt the price of a new screen for it was cost prohibitive, the technology at the time was advancing rapidly and it didn't make sense to spend 50%+ of the original purchase price on repairs to that unit. Humming Bird offered me a discount on a replacement, but BPS had a cheaper price than their discounted price. LOL, prices have certainly risen since I bought my last one!
  9. http://canigivemydog.com/pumpkin This link seems to support that. When I see my dog eating grass I try to keep him outside for a bit, it seems to mean a barf is coming!
  10. LOL, Ohio bad and Ontario bad have different meanings! The winter of 78-79? A state highway near me had snow piled up alongside the road as high as the windows on an 18 wheeler, the only time I have seen it that bad in my area. There was also a lot of fish kills here that year in area lakes and ponds because of the ice and snow on them! I remember a couple of Ontario camp owners showing me pictures of their winter wonderlands! LOL
  11. LOL, that is the way to see ice! In a picture, or a drink!
  12. Outside of the regular crowd that wanders onto Lake Erie here in the winter you really don't see many people ice fishing here. I doubt that even in the bad winters of the later 1970's any of our lakes saw 30 inches of ice. One of my cousins went thru the ice when I was young and died, and a couple of my buddies that ice fished have fallen thru, but lived. Not something I ever had enough interest in to try, I worked in the ice, cold, and snow, winter was reel cleaning time!
  13. Pretty birds, never seen one here.
  14. Nice work! Never got a big one in the boat.
  15. LOL @ 30 inches of ice, I can't even imagine that.
  16. http://www.yakimabait.com/products/jig-spinner/ Hildebrandt was the brand I usually saw here.
  17. Think of what you are going to be happy doing long term, you don't want to be up grading every couple of years, it gets expensive! You can spend the money on boats and motors or spend it fishing more often?
  18. What ever it is you need a hot meal!
  19. LOL! I could have used that mule!
  20. Yes, it's always nice to know you will wake up in the morning! Safety first!
  21. Vent less propane heater? https://www.lowes.com/pd/Dyna-Glo-30-000-BTU-Wall-or-Floor-Mount-Liquid-Propane-Vent-Free-Infrared-Heater/1000126225
  22. LOL, we get snow around Thanksgiving sometimes too!
  23. The bass club I used to fish with held open tournaments in late December, I know people here that catch largemouth while ice fishing. Picture casting blade baits in December and winning a bass tournament? They were active enough to chase them, or reaction strikes? Ice limits boat usage, snow can too! Ramps aren't a top priority for snow removal here in December.
  24. Like you say, nothing fancy, but all seem usable to fish out of. A 9.9 isn't going to make any of them a speed boat, but should get you around OK.
