  1. Over the years we caught a few of them at Pointe Au Baril, all except 1 were caught in shallow weedy areas and were 6-8 pounds. One of my buddies got 1 in 16 - 18 feet of water that was pushing 20 pounds, it was a tank!
  2. Too many variables, what might be hot one day might be useless the next? Some days 1 bite may have been your hot lure?
  3. Hack, 5-8 years ago I bought some of those Lunkerhunt Kraken spinnerbaits as a Christmas present for a friend, buy 2 get 1 free. So I got 6 and paid for 4, on 2-3 of them the rear blades would not spin, made in China with very low quality ball bearings in the swivel, no problem for me, I had good swivels on hand and replaced them. I let them know of the swivel issue, now they may have changed the name, colors, and suppliers? I always preferred closed eye spinner and buzzbaits.
  4. Some power pro or similar and a needle? anything over 50lb test should remain break free in a net?
  5. https://travelingluck.com//North+America/Canada/Ontario/_5921195_Chicken+Liver+Channel.html It's my impression that those folks in that er... ice breaker video? knew that area very well? even with gps it's nice to be able to see the rocks ahead?
  6. Many years ago we followed the owner of KenLea camp down to what he called Table Rock, and it was in the general area that the maps HTHM and Cast-Away posted.

  9. Never trolled out of a canoe, but that, the rod holders or line shouldn't have much effect on line twist, line type, diameter can affect trolling depth. Some crank baits need to be tuned to get them to run well, and some seem more susceptible to damage that affects their running properly. The old storm hot n tots metal bill could break loose from the plastic and get water inside making them spin, and if you have 100 - 150 feet of line out? by the time you notice you have line twist.

  11. Years ago my barber used to make a trip down there once a year for tarpon, some big fish! LOL wanna go? no! fight one fish for an hour or more? too much like work!
  12. Try ebay lots of brands, strengths, and sizes.
  13. A guy I worked with years ago had family in Maine, he would go down to the boats and buy them for like 3 bucks each and bring a couple of big coolers full of them here, they went fast!
  14. Sir, the only place I have seen one was at Devils lake in Ontario 1957, a couple of youtube videos I have seen show people using them with a lot of success. I took uncle josh pork grubs and put round rubber legs on them, my top trailer for small hair jigs. These have also worked for me. https://arkielures.com/collections/plastic-lures/products/salty-crawlin-fry

  19. Bet that would be killer for smallies tied on a 1/8th or 3/16th ball head jig? Nice work Brian!
  20. My biggest smallie was 22 inches, pretty confident it was over 6lbs, but not too much.
  21. 1.) 3 1/2 tube green pumpkin for a crayfish look, white and silver for a bait fish look. 2.) 4 inch Zoom lizard, junebug or watermelon blue. 3.) old school Storm wee wart, chrome - black back - red chin. 4.) hair jig, black or brown, with a pork or rubber trailer. 5.) underspin, like the old school road runners or newer options. Can't fault what has worked for you.
