I got about a 35 pound carp on 8# test mono, a lot of other good fish also. Open water it`s not much of a problem, and I prefer to use it for a number of reasons, lure running depth, visability, cost. Not the right line in all situations but for some it`s fine.

Don`t old guy`s use tillers? I mean really, younger guys like myself and Lew have adjusted quite well to steering wheels, granted it takes some doing, but I am sure that given enough time even some of you geezers can do it! LOL just kidding, it`s a matter of personal preference, if you troll a lot on smaller waters a tiller makes sense. How many don`t get the car thing?

Nice ride Rodger, I like the decks deeper in a boat myself, especially when fishing big water like Erie. Fishing out of a bass kind of makes me feel like I am walking the plank.

I don`t ice fish so this may not help. For smaller minnows like for perch fishing I used a 4 or 2 aberdeen they can take it easily and it cuts down on the swallows, for bluegill a size 6, smaller mouths. Hook quality isn`t normally an issue with the smaller panfish, no need to break the bank on expensive hooks. Bigger fish hook quality becomes an issue, I use aberdeen hooks for bass and walleye but spend some money and get good ones. If I am fishing with the intent of catching a bigger bass, walleye, pike or ski on live bait the aberdeens stay home and I use a heavy wire hook, Mustad 3407s work well 3/0 to 5/0. Hook placement for me depends on what I am trying to do with the live minnow, fishing a big chub or shiner under a float I hook them under the dorsal fin with care not to hit the spine, they will live(swim) longer. Casting I take the hook in their mouth and out the gill cover, no need to hit flesh, tipping a jig thru both lips, trolling thru the lips. Big hooks can kill a small minnow quickly, so can improper hook placement.

Ya I can, been swimming since childhood, more of a floater now the energy is gone.

Most of my buddies are pulling their boats (glass bass boats) with F-150 and the small v-8`s. Trips all over Ohio, to PA, to NY and Ontario, 1 also tows his down to GA to fish with his son. No problems mentioned, most have Fords because of a family member working there.

A couple of Mepps boo tails, 5.95 each, 40 something bucks worth of soft plastic baits, 1.00 a pack and some Mustad extra wide gap hooks, 1.00 a pack. All still unused, like I needed it anyway! What is fishing? LOL

I broke a Garcia Colon rod on a hookset back in the 60`s, had a couple of eyes come apart on me, and had the kids break a couple in doors and windows on cars. Not really many problems with rods overall.

Roger I just had the front wall of my basement dug up about 3 months ago. I also feel that water problems are best repaired from the outside. Water needs to be able drain, slow or no drainage allows it time to find the weakest link. My basement is made of concrete block, it had poor drainage on the front because the construction garbage, insulation, pieces of wood, plastic, bottles and cans had been pushed into the hole along the outside wall and topped of by the clay they had dug up when digging the basement. There was also only about 4 inches of stone on top the footer drain pipe. Water doesn`t flow well or at all thru clay, it traps the water against the foundation, all the junk was dug out, by hand(2 men, 2 days) footer drain section was replaced, black flexible perforated pipe was was replaced with rigid perforated pipe,basement wall was resealed, clean out installed and the hole was filled to 1 foot from the surface with number 57 limestone and topped of with topsoil. The water isn`t coming from inside the house, why try to stop the seepage from the inside? The repair is simple but labor intensive, a 2 foot wide trench dug down to the footer drain, if you can run the water of with tarps or something it is a do it yourself project to save cash if you are physically able to do it.

Great news! The being sick deal can get old! I am nearing year 4 and it hasn`t been much fun.

Probably to late to help, try the first drop from shore. My buddies have been scoring well on bass in 4 to 8 feet of water, they are feeding heavy on baitfish. The Mskies might be to or feeding on the bass. Piedmont?

Thanks guys, it`s been a pain for about 3 weeks. My speakers are built into my monitor and I do get a beep if I click on the wrong item, just no other sounds. I get a message that says "supported sound card cannot be found" if I try to play a game like Holye casino, I have re-installed the game and no help. The computer is saying everything is connected and working. Mute is off volume is up. I also get a message archlib.dll needs to be re-installed, and svchost.exe is the only thing using resources on the task manager besides FireFox in any amount. No clue it`s still under a service plan but I have no idea if it is a hardware or software issue. I will run Hijack this and post the log.
