I don`t think I want a Q on my hat, people might take it for something else.

It happens, just a bit cool for a lot of action. Probably a bit warmer here in northern Ohio than where you are and still early. Daughter and her boyfriend just got back from the farm pond out back, a couple bluegill and a couple crappie, crappie in the pond seem to be stunted from lack of a good bait fish supply, rare to see one over about 6 inches long. Cold front predicted here for the weekend and into next week, it will probably slow things down even more. Snow?

One of my buddies just got NGK plugs for his 50 merc at a Napa store here in Ohio 3 at 8 bucks a piece, they had to call other stores to find them.

Probably no help to you, never fished for them in the spring, fall only and here in Ohio out of a boat. I have gone up some rivers here to the point I could go no farther. Like mentioned deeper pools are the best bet, and since I was more or less bass fishing ones with junk in them seemed to hold more fish, logs and stuff. Undercut banks, tree roots, makes for some fun trying to land them though. All of mine have come on bass tackle, 6 to 7 1/2 foot medium action or heavier rods, a mix of spinning and casting and 8 to 17 pound test line, lures only. Tubes, small crankbaits, jig and grub.

LOL, BBR to BCR? Nice catch Rich! er I guess. The darn things will eat anything, used to catch them on live shiners crappie fishing, caught them on tubes, Carp are like vacuums.

Tried the gobie drop shotting on Erie last year, non-Berkley tube out fished it, couldn`t even get a sheephead to take it. Don`t use live bait much and not at all recently, you can try the Gulp baits as trailers on a spinnerbait-buzzbait, instead of a pig on jigs. They probably have some use.

Geoff see if someone from the board is in your area with both, more of a comfort thing than anything else. You will pick up and use the tool you are most comfortable with, I can and have used both, even though I am a righty I prefer a lefty.

LOL Glenn, water is still real cold here, maybe in the upper 30`s in the rivers and ponds, Lake Erie was like 36. Breakfast of Carp? not champions? dsn, some of the bays of Lake Erie here can produce a 35+ carp anytime of the year, just some real pigs here.

My daughter and her boyfriend went to a local river today for a little fishing after work. 1, 2 foot carp on a piece of Strawberry flavored shredded wheat cereal.

LOL Joe, been some kind of rumor there was a football team in Cleveland too.

She should pay a visit to our current leader, the previous one had the country humming along?

Sad news, I posted one like last month about Winnebago having problems. Recreational and tourism industries will probably all take a hard hit for a while. Job and economic news here just continues to show weakness. Like 3 smaller airlines shut down in the last month or so, ATA, Aloha, Skybus. Almost 250,000 jobs lost since the beginning of the year, trickle down economics, when the biggest market slows down it affects the world? Construction and manufacturing sectors continue to slide down hill. Trailer sales place down the road from me, I don`t see people looking.

Ya lunker, a sad fact of living next door to a bigger country without nationalized health care, easy to make a border crossing and increase their pay. Although he was busy, he had people skills, a very good explanation of the problem and corrective measures. Some doctors here come up short on that test.
-
LOL Bill, typical 19 year old, made of steel, wasn`t wearing the leg immoblizer they gave him on his emergency room visit, after the doc checked him out, fitted with another and told it doesn`t come off for 2 weeks, until the next visit. Doc was busy, didn`t get much time to talk, but the accent was obvious even though slight. Brain drain? Ya one of my thoughts too, we are soon to become a nation of geezers with the baby boomers starting to age, health care field will be strong here for 20-30 years at least. First doc I have met that was obviously from Canada.

I have seen Phil(whopper) holding them, he is a pro!

Threw some money at one today, went with my son to the orthopedic doc, a Canadian import from southern Ontario, eh? Like all the people I have met from Canada, nice guy! Guess my son tried to dislocate his knee cap.

My first bass over 10 pounds - Lake Toho report

Nice fish! -
Anything a smallie will eat with the exception of surface lures, never got one on a surface lure and their mouths don`t have a good location for surface feeding. Tubes work, jig and pigs, crankbaits, just about any live bait. Ball head jig with a piece of worm, just about anything. They also love crawfish. Don`t know if they actually school, but I have caught more than I wanted in certain areas. They seem to prefer the same types of bottom as smallies, rocky bottoms, rip rap along causeways and bridges, current doesn`t bother them too much but an eddy or any current break is a better spot to try. They get pretty good size, up to around 20 pounds, sort of a bull dog fighter, down and deep.

Real hard t o beat a minnow and a bobber fishing for them, waters here they love emerald shiners. Small tubes, small jig and grubs, road runners, small crank baits. I have caught them on a lot of my regular bass tackle by accident, not the best way for numbers. They will spawn in a lot of the same areas a bass will and like cover, weeds, docks, wood in the water.

LOL Fish, 35 hp merc and it was rare for me to use a 6 gallon tank of fuel in a day, had the foot on the electric most of the time. One benefit of having smaller bodies of water to fish, 3000 acre inland lake here is pretty big. Glen, for the most part unions try to maintain the standard of living for their members, not unreasonable to expect slow steady improvement in wages and working conditions. Yes some abuses and heavily publicized in the past, abuses by executives just recently started getting equal time. Corporate pay goes up to 300 times their pay of 30 years ago and they complain when the worker asks for more? and wages aren`t up 4 times of 30 years ago? No increase in the minimum wage for like 10 years, but congress increases it`s pay 10 or 20 times, and wonders why the country is in trouble? LOL and still spends money like a sailor on a night out? Bear Stearns? typical, millions pad to executives that broke the bank? By the taxpayer? The smartest minds in the country know how to abuse or spin it to the rest.

The knob on the handle side adjusts side play, side to side motion puts tension on the spool shaft to adjust it, older Abu`s had two.The one opposite was the cast control, both needed to be set properly for best effect. Also little brake things, not sure of the name but most came with 3 sets of two, two were need, centrifugal brakes. On the old abus you have to take the side cover and possible the spool out to change them.(60`s and 70`s models) Haven`t used a Curado much, a few casts off and on with a buddies to try out(older model, Green). seems I heard mention of 3 for a setting on them but don`t know about it for sure. Or what the 3 meant. All my shimano reels are also older models.

Tools, like Ben says better a well rounded inventory than heavy on one unless it is a proven winner for you. When my dad was young flatfish were the lure of choice for Lake Erie walleye and blue pike, when I fished for them back in the late 70`s early 80`s on Erie a wiggle wart or hot n tot was hard to beat. Key is probably more to depth control, stick a lure in their face = more bites.

The US has lost millions of jobs, and deeper in debt. 20 dollar an hour jobs lost 12 dollar an hour job replacing it, not only hurts people but not a comparable revenue stream into the tax coffers, eg. more borrowing more debt, coupled with rampant spending by our government? Basic rule, you spend more than you take in, your in debt, if people can`t afford to buy your products because they don`t have jobs? Your gone? Do I keep a roof over my head or buy your outboard? A lot of manufactures have priced themselves out of business expecting double digit growth and profit rates, for them and their 7 and 8 digit executives.
