  2. Dang! sorry to hear that ehg, walking isn`t a strong point for me either.
  3. LOL Phil, my son and his girlfriend are near there today, the school gathering at Cedar Point after yesterday`s prom night. Grand kids spent the night cause my wife doesn`t work till tomorrow evening. Don`t know if Joe could carry the tackle bag with out you and Deg to help, I haven`t down sized yet. Just one of those days where I am better off inside. A very long drive for me and hard to get motivated to fish for walleyes, especially on Lake Erie.

  5. Never kept any snakes long term, big fat garter snake in dad`s favorite minnow bucket. Dad went fishing, with the empty bucket, LOL dude at the bait store got bent when he opened it and a snake jumped out. 3 ribbon snakes, probably the same bucket, LOL in the basement of our two family home in Cleveland, grandma and Gramps upstairs and didn`t speak much English. Grandma didn`t have too, the tone implied cursing at the snakes loose in the basement. Found two out of three.
  6. LOL Glenn, need a cell mate? I will answer to bubba! Bottom bunk for me, I don`t climb!
  7. 1.3 billion in China, 1 billion in India a paltry 300 million in the USA, it had to be expected as fuel use by those two increased demand and depletion rate would also. The oil companies own scientists predicted it back in the early 50`s. We used up our supply of easily obtained oil here in the states in record time, a little pebble that could knock out a self proclaimed giant if supply and price go the wrong way. Unfortunately it is political suicide to suggest or implement a change in driving habits. A report by the ATA(American Trucking Association) that its members could save 86 billion gallons of fuel over the next 10 years by slowing down. Transportation costs reflect in pricing of just about everything.
  8. If your going to use braid leave 10-20 yard of mono on the spool to prevent the braid from slipping on the spool. Toss up on line, a pick-em deal everyone has their own favorites, I use original Stren but just my choice. Set your drag to allow the line to go out fairly easily without breaking, don`t crank in line while the fish is taking line out to prevent line twist. Line test and the ability to land a bigger fish on it depends on experience, dumb luck, conditions in the area you are fishing, the more junk in the water the heavier the line for success in landing them. Most species the first thought when hooked is head for cover, junk. Braid is a lot thinner than mono, a spinning reel will be able to cast a heavier braid easier than the same pound test mono. Landed some good fish on a spinning reel and line that was in my opinion too light for the fish, hard to pick what bites sometimes.
  9. I don`t know if any one does the exact same retrieve as another person using the same lure, some are probably real close but the human factor. Any particular lure? and what are you trying to do with it? fish species? Most lures and retrieve variations will work for more than one species of fish.
  10. A front porch, a 26x 14 concrete pad on the back of the garage, new pool liner, and a graduation party for my son. Probably throw in a kiss above the waist, got the bottom end rear covered!
  11. Ya clamp-it sales are down and GM is laying off people that make the pick ups and suvs here. Betting most here never saw a load big enough to justify them.
  12. Officially Trailer Trash!!! you need a pick up on blocks in the picture to qualify for the elitist position of trailer trash, not everyone is acceptable. Maybe your trailer in my neighbors back yard will get you approved? Nice looking place!
  13. v6 chevy astro with a 27 gallon tank @ 3.69 =$99.63, if I drove like I had planned it would hurt. It gets a lot better mileage than some of the friends 4x4 pickups and SUVS.
  14. Sleep apnea is typical for the overweight and out of shape. Beer, wings dang! you calling Gerritt a FF Glenn? Not good but it could have been worse Gerritt, hope the treatment works for you!
  15. You must have sissey carp up there, ours bounce off boats and don`t die!
  16. Lake Erie! Note that fish swim, this is called movement, this also may vary depending on seasonal conditions, water clarity, food supply, water temps, ect.. A better question may be techniques for locating then. If you depend on spots? expect to hear you should have been here yesterday, last week, ect. I wouldn`t want some else to hit a home run so I could run the bases. If you need spots? get one of these to hit them! http://www.ubergizmo.com/15/archives/2007/...sy_fishing.html
  17. I also don`t use them much, the plano boxes work for most of the soft plastics I have seen, most of mine are in them and I have lots. I also use baggies but zip lock freezer bags. Might be wrong but Gulp plastics might dry out if not kept in bags? And the triple x soft plastics were made of a different material that I heard stories about melting plano boxes, again no personal experience. singingdog is probably close to the truth with the color selection thing, I do believe color can make a big difference with the amount of hits on the same lure type. Senko`s just sort of struck me as a funny looking pricey worm, I can do a lot of the same things with a worm. My preference for most worms is Zoom, same with Lizards, but I carry a mix. Scent? Pam with garlic if I use any at all not built in, even my dogs like it. I usually start of with a dark soft plastic lure, Junebug or such, it seems to work every where I have fished. Don`t know how much trouble a fish has looking at objects falling from the sky into the water in the sunlight but a dark color maybe easier to see? If the bite is tough usually the first thing I try is mixing up colors, dark, light, medium to see if it makes a difference.
  18. My brother had a Bayliner 2350 trophy I think, I/O. Bought it new from the local Bayliner dealer, problems, poor service, always some sort of a problem and service issue and sold. Bigger ones were lighter than a comparable sized Searay or WellCraft and didn`t ride as well, just cheaper.
  19. Dogs are kind of like kids, you want good behavior out of them you have to put a bit of time in with them, a lot of people want dogs but don`t want to put in the time... I was a truck driver, a lot of different stops, and dogs, a bag of bones can do wonders, carry a few in the pocket and talk nice to the dog throw him a bone, most don`t bite the hand that feeds them. 3 dogs at home, they get nervous when someone or something is heading for their space. The bark at the horses next door, the horses ignore them and they get over it, they bark at the neighbors dogs that enter the yard, then want to go out and play with them. They bark at the neighbors, then go over and make friends.
  20. LOL Connie, the beers waiting. I am still living in the 1960`s, I burned 20 bucks worth of gas last month. Heck a good son in law is one that keeps a roof over my daughters head.
  21. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbon_credit Second oldest daughters boyfriend does this for a living, buys and sells the credits, makes a very good living and his name also starts with a G.
  22. CNG(Compressed Natural Gas) One of the natural gas companies here uses it to power some of their service fleet. Not sure exactly how it works, probably something like a propane fueled fork lift , and not sure if the fuel mileage would be the same per tank, gasoline is a denser fuel than propane or CNG.
  23. Like danbo says wait until you feel the fishes weight on the hook, better percentage of hooksets that way. No telling how the fish is going to wind up hooked, I like a little lighter rod to prevent the hook from pulling out.
  24. Glad your ok! Isn`t all of Virginia southern?
  25. Tornadoes?
