  1. I have no idea how your laws cover things up there, a friend, now deceased hit a protected hawk here in Ohio with his truck. It was dead but not torn up, and a cool looking bird, he took it to get it mounted. The shop here would not do it, and told him it was illegal to have it in his possession for any reason. They would not even dispose of it for him. Not sure? let it go
  2. Hi Gerritt, sorry to hear that. Ya if you have been to the doctor just follow his advice, it`s not like they can put a cast on them. As I see it the need is to keep them from breaking and puncturing a lung or other internal organ. Take it easy! Any blood when you cough, any other abnormal items get back to the doc or er room quick. Never broke a rib but sprained some rib muscles lifting weights, and it can be a pain just to get a deep breath. Good luck sir!
  3. It looks like a Smithwick devils horse, they have been around for a while. I haven`t bought any recently, last one was in the 80`s and they were still made of wood at that time. Rule number one? if you think it may be of some value? don`t attempt any repairs on your own, sell it as is and let a collector handle it. Having a bad day with surface lures? Sometimes all it take is a little something extra, a prop or two on a lure, Heddon tiny torpedo or smithwicks were my favorite prop lures, a smaller target for one a larger target for the other.
  4. I have a dehydrator and it came with directions. It is worth while if you are a hunter? You can use venison, it you can get beef on sale it also may be worth while. It is easy to do.
  5. LOL I wouldn`t pay for a dating site, and none of you guys look that good to me.
  6. I have used Firefox since it was first mentioned on this board in 2003-2004? No problems with it, I also have IE, but don`t use it, no need to.
  7. A very nice job! Congrats!
  8. "Remember that spouse that lives with you?? " LMAO, not! Son there is something I want to show you? Also a not! Not April yet so I can`t fish, hmmm?
  9. Might have let her keep the 15 cents for that action!
  10. I keep unwanted items away from my transom.
  11. Most of mine have eaten tubes, a bit of a different feeling between setting the hook on a 20 inch bass and a 40 inch carp. Guess they are fun to fight, lol and a lot less teeth than ski`s or pike? Those lips can be scary though!
  12. LMAO, no known photographic records of me holding a carp, or a sheephead. LOL Whopper looks good holding sheepheads, I need a prettier fish.
  13. Sandusky Bay Lake Erie, Ohio side, by the third bridge under the Cedar Point causeway. My buddy got one between 50 and 60 pounds on a tube, we probably would never have landed it if we weren`t in a boat and could follow it with the electric motor. Mid April before they put a closed season on smallies here, we caught 3 that day, one around 25, one around 35, and the sow. Lot f pigs in the bay, and it is usually pretty easy to spot where they are feeding, they get the water muddy rooting up the bottom. Hoovers, the suck up anything and eat it, catch them on lures all the time there, worms minnows. They aren`t too particular, not much shore access in the bay, a boat is the best way to fish it. April is a good time because the water is cold and they can be a bit sluggish. Just west of there in west harbor we have watched netters pull in their commercial nets with some real pigs. They clean them and smoke them and send them to NYC.
  14. Nice ride Gman! LOL now this was a flagship http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http:/...ved=0CCUQ9QEwAw
  15. I haven`t looked at newer reels much, I regularly used 10# test on my older Shimano 251`s, on my older Abu`s 10# test will get between the spool and the frame, I needed to use at least 12# test on the Abu`s and since they are bigger reels I usually use at least 14# test. With today`s super lines and floro there isn`t much need to run a lite line on a baitcaster.
  16. Congrats Steve! never into running for distance much, but like weight lifting if you stick with it, it can become fun. LOL 1:57? about the time it takes me to walk down to the mail box and back! I keep tryin but only seem to get slower, er or fall. Still can`t master the bouncing back up, LOL Yesterday? A movie, Young Victoria, and dinner with a younger lady, a pleasant time.
  17. I learned on a bait caster, and old Langley when I was 5, it takes some practice, and every reel can fell a bit different but it is something you should learn and get comfortable with if you like to fish. Spinning reels and even spin-casting reels can have their uses, but for big fish and frequent use a bait caster is the way to go. It doesn`t have to be a top end reel to get good results with it, just practice and getting used to the reel. I clean my own, I like to know how much grease and oil is in them, it can make a bit of a difference in cooler weather when the grease and oil are thicker. Learn to flip and pitch with them, precise control will allow you to catch more fish. I don`t like to experiment with line, find one that works for you and stick with it if it works. I have a mix of baitcaster, some from the late 70`s and early 80`s, all Abu`s or Shimano`s some newer one, just haven`t seen a reason to upgrade. LOL practice! nothing worse than being in a boat with a partner that spends the day catching trees and docks.
  18. young one casting a crankbait can be very productive, if that is what the fish are looking for that day. There have been days when I got ten bass in ten casts, just a question of finding them and putting something in front of them they liked. Even with a plastic worm color can make a difference.
  19. Sit on your butt behind a game console, or at a bar, or out in the fresh air and sunshine? or rain, lol to each his or her own? Addiction? no, a state of mind.
  20. LOL we have something Canadians like besides a bit of warmer weather in the winter? LOL, don`t ever say America doesn`t sell you gas! A common brand name here in the Medina Ohio area, all the major grocery stores stock it and in a few flavors. Actually a brand that no longer seems to exist Heartland were my favorite.
  21. LOL, Toys-R-Us? A very good tackle shop in my area, and I know and have fished with the people that run it. They are all fishermen and good ones! I still used to go to BPS and Cabela`s, Janns Netcraft at times, they took the place of the Cleveland Sportsman show for me. Quantity purchases made where the cost was the cheapest, but in time of need locally. Some stores carry different products, it is nice to have options. Not really into house brand lures and such, but is anything made in our countries any more any way? BPS seems to have caught on to that fairly quickly and push their house brands, for nearly the same prices that name brands carry, and the price of a few lures is more than the poor dude in China or Korea makes in a day for turning out hundreds of them. LOL Bass-Mart?
  22. Lew I have a septic system and have lived here for 20 years now, I always was out my paint brushes in the laundry tub, ya it goes right into the septic system. No idea what style of system you have, there are a few different type of septic systems. I have an aeration system, it has a motor that has a long hollow shaft that pumps air into the stew and stirs it to help it break down, it also has a pump that pumps out the gray water(waste). Depending on the pump brand they are tough, mine uses a cast iron Hydromatic pump with an easily replaceable float switch, some float switches are built in and not easy to replace. My pumps have never failed, the float switch a few times. It never fails either, they have a habit for me of failing on the start of a long holiday weekend, late at night, whenever it may take a day or two for a service guy to show. I keep a spare pump and float switch on hand and change them out myself. Nothing that won`t rot should go into the drains, plastic, some diaper wipes, cigarette filters, they can clog the system. I don`t have a sink disposer, just seemed like a good idea to limit what I was putting down the sink with a septic system. I compost most of my kitchen scraps. Some builders cover the septic systems, bury them, makes no sense to me, sure it hides them, but adds to the expense of repairs, the first step requires a backhoe to uncover them, it can make repairs pricey.
  23. Plastic worms, my preference is Zoom ss u tails in Junebug, watermelon blue fleck, black or purple, watermelon seed, those colors seem to work anywhere. Berkley power worms will also work, my 2nd choice though. Tubes, 3 1/2 - 4 inch green pumpkin, a brown if you can find one, and white with silver glitter, water melon blue fleck, same deal they seem to work any where. Jigs, bass style with a skirt and ball or mushroom head, find ones that have a good hood in them, they are worth it in the long run. The idea is to be able to strain the water, fish all depths comfortably and efficiently, top water lures, shallow runners, medium runners, and deep runners. Some lures let you do a little of each depending on how the are used, you can retrieve a spinner bait in a number of different speeds to cover various depths, it does help to have a mix of weights, up to 1 ounce or larger for skis. You are not going to get everything you may need or want in one trip, basics and quality will give you a good start.
  24. Pulling for you Jack!
  25. They also used to sell shocks that had a coil spring on them that you could bolt right on yourself. Me and a friend put air shocks on my dad`s 65 pontiac catalina station wagon, he wrecked it a short time later. The shocks can change the handling characteristic of a car. You need to let air out when you are done hauling your boat.
