  1. If they don't have them I am thinking that any place that sells trailers, towing equipment (like uhaul) might?
  2. I watched the first one, there are some dangerous drugs out there! http://www.drugwatch.com/tylenol/
  3. It's been a long time since I was up there, things must have really gotten pricey, or perhaps it is the exchange rate that I have kept up with? http://www.walmart.com/ip/Igloo-Quick-and-Cool-150-Quart-Cooler/16437963
  4. I went out on Lake Erie one morning with a friend to do some smallie fishing, an hour or two later the fog rolled in. I doubt we were a half mile off shore, but couldn't see 50 feet. If it hadn't have been for the busy railroad tracks and horns and noise from the trains and traffic we might not have made it back. A compass, cheap protection! I didn't think small boats needed one, that incident changed my view.
  5. Agreed, in part. I also grew up in the swinging 60's, and smoked pot. I was able to put it down or take a break from it anytime I felt like it, same with alcohol for me. When they started random testing here for commercial drivers I also got that message, put it down completely. I saw people and worked with them that couldn't seem to get the message, some failed drug tests, some alcohol. I know a lot more " potheads " that have managed to hold down jobs, and stay alive that alcoholics. Pretty crappy when you are 45-50 and your liver is gone and be sitting home or hospitalized on disability waiting to die or a transplant? Imagine the outrage if the government tells you go fish, but only for carp?
  6. Actually Drifter some states here have, and it seem like more and more have various legislation pending, even Ohio is supposed to have some sort of legislation in progress. http://www.governing.com/gov-data/state-marijuana-laws-map-medical-recreational.html LOL, it looks bad for politicians if they take campaign contributions from drug dealers? But if it's legal? send a check? Then there is also the state competition? They are getting free money? We want a piece of the pie too! Once Ohio saw neighboring states hitting the casino tax jackpot? That sin disappeared!
  7. They must be running out of things to tax here? Pot gives them a new cash cow.
  8. I tend to agree with this, if you don't smoke anything you should be forced to for help?
  9. I always like to see a map-chart before I even hit the water, not just for fishing, but for safety too. Raf, Akrisoner can tell you a lot of the places on the Georgian that may look safe? Might be a bad move? You have a heck of a lot more motor breakers than we do. Maps can give you an idea on places to start looking for fish, good electronics are also a big help. Talking to bait store owners here for the most part was kind of pointless, I don't know how many of them actually had time to fish, or if the information they received was accurate, not many people are willing to share their hot spots? Watching the shoreline and staying alert can help.
  10. I spent a lot of time on Lake Eire in a 17 foot Smokercraft with a 35hp merc, I picked good days for me and my boat to be out there and wasn't afraid to head for shelter if it got bad out. I always picked the ramp closest to the area I would be fishing.
  11. I would not call that a keeper and want no part of catch and release with that! LOL
  12. When you launch the boat? Take a minute or two to inspect the trailer frame, I have seen a couple with some severe cracks in the welds, they are a lot easier to see with the boat off the trailer.
  13. No idea what " trixys " that is, 4 inch zoom lizards were also a great bait for smallies here.
  14. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Jewel_Bait_Sculpin/descpage-JS.html#multiview those worked well on Lake Erie, never used a slammer.
  15. With the Emerald Ash Borer, ash as firewood might become history.
  16. All the ones I saw on Lake Erie seemed to be between 3-5 inches long, but I am sure there had to be bigger ones around Brian. I have no clue, does Simcoe have access to the great lakes for fish to migrate? Or were those from carelessness with a bait bucket?
  17. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Round_goby " Round gobies range in length from 4 to 10 inches (maximum of 9.7 inches (24.6 cm), and in weight from 0.176 ounces to 2.816 ounces, increasing as they age. Male round gobies are larger than females. " It's been 10 years or so since I fished, but never saw one that big, is that from Simcoe? Looks like a decent meal for a walleye or steelhead.
  18. I burn hardwoods in my woodburner and use softwoods like pine, willow, cottonwood for bonfires. Although most of the wood I burn is short cut slab wood, there are always thinner pieces in the mix to use to get the fire going quickly.
  19. Most of our lakes here receive a lot of fishing pressure, especially for bass. On some a bass weighing 4 pounds was almost a lock on big bass for a tournament on others a 5 pound bass wasn't. Some lakes were numbers lakes, on others every bite counted a lot more. I fished a pond around eight acres in size, it had very limited access to it for fishing. It was basically futile to go there and fish with lures and expect to catch a bass, day or night. Use a 6-8 inch chub or golden shiner? You might only get one bite a day, but that fish was usually 20 inches plus. A couple - few years ago one of my friends show me an article that was written by a well known bass fisherman from this general area for a magazine about smallies on Lake Erie. It was his conclusion that people didn't start catching numbers of big smallies on Lake Erie until the late 1980's , just maybe it wasn't advertised as much?

  21. https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basics " The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) labeling on heartworm preventives states that the medication is to be used by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian. This means heartworm preventives must be purchased from your veterinarian or with a prescription through a pet pharmacy Prior to prescribing a heartworm preventive, the veterinarian typically performs a heartworm test to make sure your pet doesn't already have adult heartworms, as giving preventives can lead to rare but possibly severe reactions that could be harmful or even fatal. It is not necessary to test very young puppies or kittens prior to starting preventives since it takes approximately 6 months for heartworms to develop to adulthood. If the heartworm testing is negative, prevention medication is prescribed. " My dog gets tested and gets Heartworm medicine, I recalled seeing the info on testing and reactions if given the medicine without testing.
  22. http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/31421.html Those seem like regulations?
  23. My biggest fish was a carpy.
  24. I am old, I remember the days before catch and release and closed seasons, there were a lot less of them around, getting too liberal with the seasons and limits could return that. Kind of like walleye fishing here, commercial netters battled with the sport fisher men for decades, they claimed not to be taking enough walleye out of Lake Erie to hurt the walleye population, but I never caught a walleye on Lake Erie until a few years after the walleye netting ban here.
  25. One of my next door neighbors had one of those systems installed around 10 years ago, I haven't heard any complaints from them. Their system required a lot of trenching in their yard to install the piping, I have no idea how you could inspect the piping without digging it up again, they probably have some sort of leakage indicator? The piping was buried deeply, 6-10 feet? As I understand it the ground temperature at that depth here is fairly constant, like 55 degrees? So heating from a constant 55 degree temp is less costly that from an outdoor air intake in the winter. The cooling benefits in summer should be obvious? Just from cursory data I have see it probably won't work as well in areas of permafrost? and I have seen some other data that shows the area around 350-400 miles south of me averages 62 degrees at the same depth there, so less cooling? but still great than the summer air? http://science.howstuffworks.com/environmental/energy/geothermal-energy.htm
