Awesome stuff!! I heard that the coho's are on fire on the south shore. Its unbelievable to watch some of the guys whine on here about the fish stocks. most of which have no clear idea of the amount of fish put into Lake O every year. If you guys what to make a difference go get involved. Join a club like the CRAA or go put in some time at ringwood. I can tell you that I have seen none of the whiners out there getting their hands dirty. If you have time to fish and time to spend on the net complaining about how many fish other guys are keeping then you have time to go out and put in 2-3 days a year helping out. Right?? Apparently not. FYI Steelhead are very hard to release out on the lake, they fight until they are almost dead, I would rather see guys keep them then see them floating around on the lake.

I have a rogers rocket stick that I use for portable highspeed. I'm very happy with it, works great and is plenty fast enough. I assume that the hub would be similar technology. sounds interesting forsure

Very cool Gerritt! Looks like we have a few handy fellows on the site! I am also a carpenter, do mostly finish work but a bit of everything. Here's a few pic's of the current project. Cape Cod style. 7 bathrooms, one in each beadroom and 3 common. I wish I could get some pics of the landscaping around the pool at the back of the house but too much snow! Its still a work in progress but should be finished up by the spring.

MUST HAVE's for your portable hut?
rhare replied to The Urban Fisherman's topic in General Discussion
Have to agree with Ben, keeping them warm will keep them happy. I use my mr. Buddy to cook hot dogs and heat stuff on all the time, just be a little creative and you can modify it to a stove/heater I keep a cheap hand crank radio in my hut, comes in handy sometimes and no let down from dead batteries. congrats on the new hut! -
I assume it was a GT model in near mint condition if your looking for over 4k??

This is an interesting topic and some great points have been made. One thing people are missing here is that it takes more then being even a good fishermen. Your people skills are 80% of what will keep your clients coming back. If people don't like being around you then it doesn't matter if your the best angler to walk the earth, people wont come back. You have to be able to teach people, sometimes people who don't think they need to be taught You have to make the trip fun! Even if it's a tough day and the fishing is slow, you have to make up for it in other ways. There is a reason that some guys make it and some guys don't. Paul Castellano is the best example out there. He's the #1 guide in Ontario for a number of reasons. He's a deadly angler, a great host and fun to fish with, extremely diverse and most of all he WORKS HIS ASS OFF. He eat, sleeps and breaths fishing. There are TONS of guys out there who are happy to take your money, some are worth every penny and some are just in it for a quick buck.

LMAO! way too funny I told you guys its a face only a mother could love! It looked to me as if he had been damaged by poor hook removal when he was a lad. Could have used some braces if you ask me!

Fast flow trout fishing - what's the best technique?
rhare replied to jat's topic in General Discussion
Why would it be a problem? Being good at bottom bouncing is far more technical then float fishing anyway. If someone has enough confidence to walk into a run occupied with a bunch of float guys and bounce it chances are they are good enough at it that it wont be a problem. -
So why not just applaud the effort that's being made to help out the fishery? Instead of ruining a good thread with airy comments. As tired as you are of the "chronz" wannabes, some of us get tired of hearing the yuppie Atlantic slander.

The fall is a great time on Simcoe to grab some light rods and head out after perch. The bait has really pushed in the last week and some bigger perch are starting to show. We had a blast yesterday working a jigging spoon and drop shot program. Drop shotting different small plastic's produced some really nice fish. Changing things up was key to keep the action steady. When the spoons would slow of a second, a quick switch to a drop shot would quickly turn the bite back on. Perch are such a curious creature I'm always surprised at how much fun perch are on ultra-light rods, some of the bigger ones even took drag. For the most part the fish averaged in the 10" range with a few fatter ones around 12"-13". tightlines Ryan Hare

what part of this are you directing that comment to?? I was down on the weekend to do my part too, had an excellent collection getting almost 500,000 over 2 days. A couple beauty browns where also transported up past the dam to better spawning grounds. here are some more pics of the collection. My hat goes off to the members of the chinese angles association. They had over 10 people out getting their hands dirty and helping out. The most impressive part is they dont even fish salmon!! The group focus is on bass and walleye but they still came out and put in time to help the king fishery. Incredible group or anglers!!! collecting some prime genetics, and trying not to get any on my jacket! some of the 30lbs males sampled this weekend

Folbe is clearly a knockoff of scotty product just made is the US. scotty makes many different types of holders that when used for there intended purpose will never crack or fall apart. The ones they show in the folby video look and work exactly like scottys orca rod holders. Scotty strikers are much better then downeasters. they are just as strong, look better and dont damage your reels. to each his own. I like my berts and my scottys

Cram The fishing never really slows down its just changes. When the mature chinooks slow down most of us head out for steelhead and coho's. so to answer your question you can catch fish in good numbers until the weather gets too bad to fish. get out there and enjoy it!
