  1. Classic! It's true though I moved to the adelaide/jarvis area last year, so I'm familiar with some of the seedier areas around here. Just yesterday driving back down to my place, I see what is possibly potential from behind, but my 6th sense kicked in telling me it's really 'a man, man' (the tipoff was the wig, and the area I was driving through). And when I checked it out from the front, it was! That's my favorite line from the Austin Powers movies by the way, its exactly my kind of humor.
  2. Nice thanks for the tip, never thought about that before. That's probably because I've rarely used spinner baits, but definitely plan on it this year.
  3. Hey thanks for the report and nice fish, as long as I get even one decent fish I'm happy Too bad about the weather, but it makes me not feel as bad for missing the opener!
  4. Wow, they found cash! And a bit of weed! Is that even relevant??? The gun I agree with, but a 'small amount' of marijuana and cash? Sounds like someones trying to over hype their bust as usual.
  5. Have had good luck for perch on Stoney, hit up all the back-bays they are there in droves.
  6. Funny you ask, YES. It was on Pigeon Lake, minutes before the localized storm formed and made a beeline for our boat the fishing got good so I wanted to stay until the last second. When that last second came, I could not get the motor started. Thunder, lightning, hard rain + metal boat = not good. I had the image of getting roasted vividly in my head. What we ended up doing was row back about 2 hours after the worst of the storm had passed, but there was still danger. A jetskier spotted us when conditions improved slightly and towed us back. I've learned a lot from that experience to say the least!
  7. Wow that first slab is a beauty! Way to go you're slaying them! You fishing off a dock or by boat?
  8. Well, if you have renewed your license but not carrying the latest one or if you ordered online like me and don't have the paper receipt to go along, you could ask the CO to call in to confirm. That happened to me on Simcoe on the ice, I didn't know I needed the printout to accompany my card but I told the CO I had recently renewed my license. He called the office, confirmed it, and saved me $150! Thanks C.O.!
  9. LOL NICE PHOTOSHOP!!! Was the green Irish glass edited IN, or OUT, now that is the question
  10. I don't mind advertisements as long as they're relevant, which I think this one is, and not spammy, which I also think this one is. Whether this poster works for an advertiser or not I don't think its that important, what is important is what their post contains which I found to be somewhat relevant. If anything, this could show the advertiser the potential of this board. I think this board has HUGE advertising potential, I've seen a few good targeted ads in the banner but I still have to say I don't click on most, they've gotta be real good to get my click. But back to the video, I was expecting to see a fish hit the bait... did I miss something? It's the result that gets people 'hooked' thats why people can sell a piece of plastic (the line dancer I think) for money because people see a big fish and say COOOOL I can do that too!!!
  11. Hi, MikeTheBassFisher's post about rust on his Rapala got me thinking. How do you dry your metal lures or hooks for storage. I do recall reading some posts about this, but what is the best way? Do you actually dry them off with a cloth / towel and leave the tackle box open, or would just leaving the tackle box open for 24 hours do the trick? I learned about this the hard way when I was starting out, when I came back to my tackle box after winter storage and there was orange everywhere! Some lures were not salvagable unfortunately, but I won't let that happen again! Just want to know the best way, thx.
  12. I learned about that orange stuff the hard way by leaving the bait I fished with in the summer in my trunk during winter, big mistake! Everything gets orange. If there is even a bit of water you'll get the orange, I don't think Rapala is to blame here (I could be wrong) because its the actual material and what it is exposed to that creates that orange. I don't think the brand matters, just the materials and what they are exposed to. Would like to hear what Rapala has to say about it though...
  13. Great report TJ, looks like a lot of fun! Cuba is one place I'm DYING to visit for a variety of reasons. Great pictures too by the way, I'm always surprised at how few people can take decent pictures, maybe it's just my circle. OZ
  14. My favorite comedy show since possibly before the turn of the century! My friend has a picture with Julian in a club in the east coast its cool.
  15. This is my 'crappie killer' setup: 1/16 or 1/32 glow-in-the-dark jighead in white, with a 1" or 2" microtube in pink head / white streamers. I put a small piece of gulp waxworm on for scent, but you can use anything with scent. Place a small float about 1-3 feet above depending on how deep the water is, make sure you have enough weights to keep the bobber sensitive and upright is required, and you will hit the fish if they are there. I was fishing last Saturday in a park with over 100 people for crappie, it was shoulder to shoulder fishing, my first experience with it and I didn't like it too much. Despite the intense fishing pressure, I managed the only real slab I saw that day! I also caught a smaller crappie, which I only saw one other person do the whole day. The people around me were using live minnows but did not get a single crappie, just a lot of dink perch. If the bite is on, go with a 2", if it is very light try going smaller to 1". And good luck!
  16. Well if those stores don't have it (the biggest distribution channels) I would suggest contacting rapala directly. Go to http://www.rapalaworld.com and go to Products -> Lures in the main menu, and then the type of lure you are looking for. If it's not on there I would suggest contacting Rapala directly to see if it is still being carried, sometimes products get cutoff.
  17. Nice one solo, what a great report, looks like a lot of fun especially with the results to boot
  18. I bet one thing that has changed considerably if the fishing! Must have been incredible back then, it's still pretty good now!
  19. Hey guys I don't think the specific picture of the bridge was that much of an impact, I mean unless you're a local and know what that bridge looks like (like me) it won't do you much good. Even if you're a local, your prolly know about the bridge anways. I'm good enough with google that I can find most of the 'producing' tribs around cities in Ontario if I really wanted to. That being said, the internet definitely facilitates the flow of information and that does impact spots. I mean, a spot close to a major city, with good fish ... sooner or later it's gonna get filled, it's just that the net makes it quicker. We should just be glad we have hundreds of thousands of other lakes and bodies of water to fish from in Ontario! As bad as Lake O is, at least we're a few hrs drive away from glorious pristine and untouched fishing anywhere in our province, isn't that the truth? I love this province / country, so many beautiful resources with so few people on it, enjoy while it lasts! Sooner or later I have a feeling someone else is gonna feel entitled to this land, after all the last time that happened wasn't too many generations ago!
  20. You can't ever count out Detroit, if the goal tending picks up a bit as I expect it will, they will win!
  21. That's an absolutely awesome report well done to all of you, the fish are prime species as well. With all these chrome reports you're doing a great sales job, each additional one makes me feel like its something I can't live without, next year they could definitely be on the hit list I'm starting to feel a slight itch that will probably grow throughout the year.
  22. Nice slabs there, great crappie report haven't seen one this year yet with that size of crappie, those are the biggest I've seen in a report this year! Its amazing how tight fish can sometimes hold to structure. I remember on Stoney Lake in the kawarthas there was this one sunken branch that must have held over 100 rockbass, but you had to be within 1 ft of it. I also remember my first time fishing, another boater recommended we try under the shade of a certain tree and we spent all day there catching perch. Great report, hope to catch some slabs that size this weekend! A key note for crappie at this time of year is that they are very bunched up, which is why its a great / best time of year to catch them in numbers, after the spawn they stay in schools but spread out over a wide area of the lake they won't be as bunched up as this till the next spawn.
  23. Absolutely beautiful. I like the Kawarthas since they are a great balance of proximity to Toronto, excellent fishing, and excellent citizens. One of my key goals in life is to have at least one cottage on the Kawarthas w/ all the trimmings (wife, kids, boat). My favorite lake is Stoney Lake. That picture is absolutely awesome, thanks for posting TJ!
  24. Nice perch and crappie, nothing wrong with frying a few up just had a nice feed myself Good on releasing the larger ones, wouldn't mind seeing a pic of them, looks like a fun day with many more to come with the slowly improving weather.
  25. Well they're always in season on Simcoe, but not in other areas you have to check the regulations for that.
