  1. Pretty sure you can't buy one new because they are illegal to sell- deemed too dangerous after a few deaths!
  2. Gotta love it when the whole fish can't fit into the picture!
  3. If you are just worried about water over the transom- install wave whackers and be done with it.
  4. My buddy just told me the MNR poisoned the Pine river with lamprecide and cleaned out a whole mess of them.
  5. Toronto Belt and Bearing should be able to hook you up- they are in Newmarket.
  6. Saw one laying the other morning on the gravel shoulder of a park road in Newmarket, reports of another laying in playground sand.
  7. Troll deep for mega pike- if you find bait holding over deeper bays ( suspended over up to 40' or so) the big mamas will be nearby. Any crank bait will work but my best has been a Berkeley Frenzy deep diver in crawfish pattern- not a very solid lure however. Troll stick-baits in the evening as well- along shorelines and rocky humps or points- there are more walleye in the Muskokas than people realize.
  8. If you can feel pick-ups or 'bumps' but fail to get a hook set- probably fish bitting short or nibbling. Usually indicates a neutral or inactive mood. I always run them on my spinnerbaits for Musky. 95% of my fish come on the main hook- but nailed a sweet 42"ski last week on the stinger. That hook saved the day!
  9. Great game and great series. The best team won. Anyone can win a game or two- thats why it is best of seven. To all the guys previously dumping on the Pens and lauding the wings- you were wrong.
  10. I have cut hooks from Musky many times- I always make sure to remove the leftover hook piece after cutting so nothing is left in the fish. After cutting, just a quick grab and tug with the jaws of the hook cutter will usually pop them free.
  11. Got rid of my bearing buddies for that reason. Now i repack them annually. One thing to note- you can certainly reuse the existing bearings if in good shape, but you will need a new rear seal- it must be destroyed in order to remove the rear bearing for cleaning and re-packing.
  12. Check the regs- muskoka river has a closed season. There are Walleye in there- took us many years but my son and I have our spots. The closed season on the river has contributed greatly to the comeback of the 'eyes.
  13. I grew up in Aurora as well- caught many beautiful Speckled trout at Shepherds Bush!
  14. Important to have the right size tip top for the blank, when it is nice and tight- crazy glue seems to hold fine.
  15. Yep, live minnows under a float can be a blast, once though we had a half pail of dead and dying minnows left over so we lip hooked them on jigs and worked rocky points that dropped off into deeper water. Pike after Pike and some sweet Smallmouth as well crushed 'em. Lake Muskoka has never been the same since!
  16. Geeez, what a cool pic!
  17. The forks of the credit and the eramosa river look spectacular, haven't stopped to fish either yet but will someday. Check regs as they may be barbless hooks, no live bait, or fly fishing only. On hwy 24 (?) there is actually river access for fishermen on the south side, and a walk trail down to the river.
  18. Just remember - you don't have to bury your rods down low all the time. When there are minimal floating weeds or debris- long lining for 'ski's works as well.
  19. I am attending a course in Guelph (ORFA at UofG) for most of this week and I have noticed a sweet looking stream- Eramosa Creek, and also the Forks of the Credit Prov. Park. Anyone fish these or can offer any tips? I may take my boots tomorrow and go for a walk after the course.
  20. I use a tool tote- the long ones with a bar across the ends for a handle- I mount a serrated piece of dowling under the handle and hang my Musky spinnerbaits from it. I also use an electrician type carry-all for all my necessities- camera, sunblock, bug spray, leaders, terminal tackle, knife etc.
  21. Found a good supply of Perch last Sunday in 16 to 20" south of the Narrows, and ya, the launch was brutal. Only one area was deep enough for my boat and it was the busiest of course. NOT MUCH PARKING AVAILABLE EITHER.
  22. Hey, go easy on the 17 year old at CTC stuff- my son works for CTC after doing co-op there. It is a good learning experience for sure, but the pay is minimal- he says there are some good mechanics there though. I'm just happy the lad is working period!!
  23. Reading the comments underneath is pretty entertaining. I would have been pleased just to have the video of the catch and release; would have felt no need to keep and kill.
  24. Had a pair of Rapala needle-nose pliers fall apart while working on a large Musky once- contacted the company and I received a new set of pliers plus some lures- awesome!
  25. I had a sweet Sea Nymph- bigger 14' tinny- maxed it out with a 25 hp Johnson- that thing would fly! Very safe and comfortable and could get off the lake in a hurry if needed. Would 5 extra horse have made a difference- might have pushed it over the edge!
