  1. Never.had.a.Cormorant.on.Lake.Muskoka.before.a.few.yeas.back. Since.then.they.are.taking.over. One.island.in.the.big.lake.where.Herons.nested.is.almost.all.cormorants now. They.seem.to.settle.a.new.island.every.year. I.dont.mind.a.few.around...but.something.needs.to.be.done! sorry.for.lack.of.space.bar!
  2. Most.years.the.ice.leaves.Lake.Muskoka.around.this.time.but.in.1992.it.was.there.until.April.30...I.know.cause.we.built.our.boathouse.on.the.ice.then. sorry.no.space.bar!
  3. I.have.a.Lakewood.box,the.one.with.the.plastic.boxes.inside...I.do.not.care.for.it! It.seems.there.is.no.real.good.solution.for.Musky.lure.storage...most.lures.are.just to.large! I.have.culled.my.lures.for.this.seasons.fishing.and.will.only.be.taking.what.I.consider essential.on.the.water.
  4. Years back I winessed a gull go down and not come up on the Muskoka River- not a Musky, but I've seen 30 lb plus Pike come out of there!
  5. Either make your own or rig them up behind existing Mepps style spinners- should be deadly for Pike?Musky etc...
  6. I need to get my trailer bearings repacked. I have pulled the hubs myself before but couldn't figure out how to access the rear bearings. Seemed they were held in with a seal or retaining ring? I wasn't sure if is was an item requiring removal and replacement or not, or if there was another way to remove/repack/replace the rear bearing?
  7. The'narrows' is where Simcoe and Couch meet, right in Orillia. Several boat launches are there as well. Drop in at Trombleys Tackle on Hwy 12 for more info and to register.
  8. I will second Paul. I upgraded to a 115 yamy from him and have had good service. Very nice folks as well.
  9. Since mid way of last season my '98 Starcraft Superfisherman has developed a leak. I have scanned the hull, loaded her up with water on the trailer, removed underwater fittings and caulked/sealed them tight, caulked any seams I thought were suspect, but still can't seem to stop the inflow...I am about ready to drop her at the dealer and leave it there until he can find the problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated- I will try anything to stop the leak. It is not a safety issue as I can bilge it out durring the day , but I can't leave it docked and unnatended.
  10. I am a Shimano guy, but last season I picked a Quantum Energy over a Stradic and it is a better reel IMO.
  11. Could be Maurice has the boys on a tight riegn in the fight for every available point they can get? Could be the rest of the team is gutless? What if Belak was on the ice or bench- he would have got beaten up as well adding insult to injury. Another year of disapointment for 'Canadas' team- striving for mediocrity! A disgruntled Leaf fan!
  12. Yep, Lews right again! I run the same line for several years- throughout the season I trim it back if it begins to look frayed or fuzzy and every other year I swap ends. I also have found I can use the same floro leader all season if I keep checking it for bad nicks or cuts. I can almost rationalize the cost savings to the wife!
  13. All the salary cap does is stop management from spending 65 million a year on the players, since it is now limited to about 44 mil...thats 20 million or so in their pocket!
  14. My folks are on Lake Muskoka and docks wash in to their shoreline every year it seams. Last summer I spied a large picnic table from the Town beach floating almost submerged in the Bay- I towed it to the house. Parents called the Town to come and get it and they sent two girls in a pickup. My 70 year old parents had to help them load it up! Tax dollars at work! Have also found dock dribs moved by ice- just under the surface- the hard way!
  15. Yep, I pulled a 15 lber from Sincoe a few years back...same thing- 50' of water with a spreader at Roches point. Also have caught perch and decent Pike at that depth on minnows and a three-way.
  16. We used to go to Mactier every year for the puddle jump competition- it was a blast! Nothing could run on water like a ski-doo Mach Z!
  17. My father and I are going to make just a few new lures this winter-I figure a couple of super shallow running 'plows' wll round things out nicely., but I have sent away for some lure making supplies to redo some of my spinnerbaits etc. I refuse to but more Musky lures until I actually start using all the ones I already have!
  18. I hope to get a Musky on a fly- haven't even tried it yet... I would like to finally get a Musky out of Blackstone/Woods Bay!
  19. About 7-8 years back I graciously sent my wife to Hawaii with some relatives...the plan was I would take 2 weeks of vacation...I had a plan...get the kids to school, head to Simcoe, sled and fish all day, return home for the kids...Big problem...no snow and minimal ice in Jan/Feb. Vowed to never waste vacation for my wife's sake again!
  20. Oh we had a GPS- in the glove box of the truck! We certainly did not expect the fog to roll in like it did, but we should have been better prepared!
  21. Got out with a buddy yesterday for some great Perch action. We launched at Sibbalds Point and headed out to the island. Many boats were already out there. Tossing small tube jigs etc. and moving them slowly put many fish in the boat. Only a few jumbos, but Perch were very plentiful. The fog rolled in about midmorning and made for a stressful ride back to the launch. We were heading in the right direction but with near zero visability it was kinda hairy. We ended up following the Island ferry back to the mainland and then following the shoreline back to the truck. I will have to take my son out there next season as it's only about 20 minutes from our house.
  22. Hey tinbanger, I launch mainly out of Pete's Place but it is closed for the season ( too bad- best launch up there! ) I have also launched at Grisdales- end of the road beside Moon River Marina ( I think ) Georges ramp is kinda steep but well paved. The marina's is probably fine as well. Let us know how you make out- I have yet to pull out a 'ski but finally connected with some Pike this summer.
  23. Got my first and therefore personal bests for Tiger Musky and Pike in a Kawartha Lake, but overall I thought the fishing was a little less productive than last year. Last year was exceptional for me though so maybe my expectations were just to high?
