  1. Dabluz, this seems to have gotten a little of track and I hope to steer this back in the right direction. Most of what akrisoner states is correct. Like 95%. The only thing I would state is different is only the G2N units at the 7 series Helix will work. Don’t look at any g2 units at all. If you are buying current units, you need the G2N designation. But if you are looking at the original series (G1), any unit over a Helix 9 without DI and GPS should network to the I pilot link. If your son son didn’t get the link model, you don’t have to worry about networking at all and can pretty much buy whatever you want. All you’ll be missing by not being able to link the units is follow the contour, memory to store more waypoints and tracks and the ability to operate your TM from your graph. I recently purchased a new boat boat and didn’t think Link was worth it to me. I went with the ultrex with standar I-pilot and two Helix 10 G2N MEGA units. Well, I actually asked for G1’s but they couldn’t get them. And I have the lakemaster chip. For what I fish, it would be useless for following the contour. Lakemaster has some ground to make up here as not a lot of the maps for what I fish are HD so follow the contour would not have worked. With either of the I-pilot options, I feel you will enjoy the added features. This is my second boat with I-pilot and I won’t have another without it.
  2. Filling the boat with water will help with larger leaks but if it’s a tiny one (or multiple tiny ones), it simply would provide enough force to find it. The boat floating on water has more downforce pushing the water into the boat. Now, like Fisherman said, if you’ve got livewells, check the hoses and connections first. Then move to the bilge plug and go from there. My old boat was dry the first week I had it. The next week, water started coming in. I wasn’t happy because it was a welded Hull. In my case, a $5.00 bilge plug fixed the problem and luckily, it was the first thing I tried.
  3. Youll have one in no time then lol. I have a Metanium DC. I like it but don’t notice any gains in casting. My wife who is a newb to baitcasters absolutely loves it though.
  4. Thanks for sharing the information.
  5. The ones mentioned are probably the best ones to use and with the exception of Kars, are the onces I use as well. If you you want to try Kemptville creek as well, there is a launch at Curry Park off of Curry Street.
  6. A neighbour at the cottage had one for quite a few years. Good looking boat that did nothing great but everything well. If the skier was any good at carving, you could feel them move the boat lol. As for fishing, it will do everything you need it to but not as good as a fishing boat. He ended up buying a tracker Targa V-18 and seems much happier with the deeper v. You have to realize though that this is very much a compromise style boat. I think they sell so well because one of the people buying wants a fishing boat (the guy usually) and the other (wife) wants something they can cruise around in. Like I said, it'll do both well. just not great. I almost ended up buying something similar as my wife was adamant on having 4 seats. Needless to say, I know I would not have been happy and ended up with a bass boat with 2 seats. The kids are able to sit on the center console and step up and the wife and I sit in the seats. It works for the 1 time the four of us will be in the boat each season.
  7. (I have not watched the video) We found this information out when we were searching for a PFD for our 6 month old. Our logic was it was better to have a non approved device than nothing so we bought one that was not approved. It served the purpose of calming my wife's nerves a bit which is all I could ask for.
  8. Akrisoner, It is a straight three pronged plug that Princess sells. I actually used one for my Talon as well. On the new boat, I flip the breaker off before charging the batteries and it seems to work just as well. As for taking the TM off, with the new one wired direct, it may take 5 more minutes to take the TM off so I am not too worried about it.
  9. Answered you on another board but no, you don't "need" a special plug. The only thing other than the wire you need is a breaker or inline fuse.
  10. Damn! That is not a cheap combo. Hope it turns up for you. I would hate to have that happen to me.
  11. I'd buy a transducer saver and shield for your TM to mount the SI transducer to. It provides some protection. I currently have a mega DIU on mine and will be buying one because it is a lot cheaper than the transducer and I know I will bash it against a rock or something. As for the wire, mine is cable tied to the shaft with slack built into the top around the head of the TM. I have an ultrex so you need some slack up there in order to not snap the wire. The leftover cable is coiled and zip tied to the cables coming out of the head.
  12. I am not sure I would agree with Garnet that 360 or panoptics are necessary but I will say they are cool. My tournament partner last year sold his 360 because you have to be essentially sitting still to get a clear picture. At least, that is what he found. I know a few guys with panoptics and they love it. One uses it a lot to look under docks for fish while the other uses it everywhere. and yeah, live scope looks awesome.
  13. We have used the burlap trick in the past. Went so far as to make frames to cover in burlap. It gave the seeds some breathing room and the burlap held some moisture around a little longer. After a week, we had nice grass in that spot so we would move onto another. it took about a month or so to do the whole yard this way but the results were good.
  14. Check out Domo-online.com I have never used this but the guys on a few other boards swear by them. The se3ll the yamalube and if you are close to a border, you may be able to have it shipped to a freight forwarder and go pick it. I considered doing this for the XD100 but seeing as I should only need a few jugs a season, I figured I would just pick it up when and as needed here for now until I get the rundown of exactly how much I will need.
  15. St. Croix has always been made in the USA. I do not know of a single rod that is made in Canada at all. It has been said time and time again. NO one wins in a trade war. a retaliation is always warranted to try and break the other side of their thoughts but in the end, everybody loses.
  16. Raynauds syndrome is never fun. My daughter has it and was diagnosed by her doctor just based on symptoms alone. There really isn't much you can do about it but try to stay warm. As for your knots, good collection. I use the Palomar and UNI a lot myself. It's pretty much all I tie so they are easily done for me. I'll definitely try a few of these though. Thanks for sharing.
  17. suspendots and suspend strips work well too if you are not worried about changing the action of the bait.
  18. The heaviest one that I have used is the Megabass vision 110magnum. It weighs in at 5/8 and is pretty sweet.
  19. Guys, He's talking about a Legend with a 60, I doubt he has a jackplate. Tjames, first, I appologize for the novel but before you go out and buy a new prop, Maybe play with your set up first. For what it is worth, I had two props for my Bass Tracker PT190/75HP four stroke when I sold it and they both acted very different. The 17p would jump out of the whole no matter the load (1-3 people and all of our gear) and would still obtain good top end speed of 36-37ish mph. this was at about 5500rpms I could turn it higher but really never did). The 19p was a little more sluggish out of the whole but also took a little more driving on plane. For starters, the prop would blow out at 5200 if I slightly turned the wheel but in a straight line, I could hit 40mph with it. The boat also came with an 18p Michigan wheel and it was perfect but the hub was slipping and I couldn't find a replacement locally at the time which is why I bought the 17. Now, when I bought my boat used, the guy had already played around with raising or lowering the motor so I left it where it was. What hole in the motor attached to the transom in counting from the top? The tracker was set in the third hole and the previous owner moved it up to the second hole because it was too low. If you can raise your motor while still getting good water pressure, you might gain 200rpm, maybe a little more speed and possibly a little better wholeshot. If that doesn't work, check the merc prop selector. Plug in your info and see what prop is recommends but if you want better wholeshot and the motor is set up correctly, you'll have to drop a pitch size or 2. dropping to a 13p should gain you about 200 RPM and a better holeshot. You probably won't lose any speed but it is a possibility. Dropping to a 12 will gain you about 400rpm and I would bet that boat would hop out of the whole but your top end may be a little slower. I am assuming you are running a 3 blade and the estimated rpms are with 3 blades as well. If you got to a 4 blade, you MIGHT gain 200 rpm is you go with a 12. There's just a little more drag with a 4 blade but the trade off is better handling. I missed the part of you having a stainless already so everything states here still is correct but only when comparing the same type of metal used. If you put on an aluminum 14p prop, you will gain RPMS because the bend more and will act closer to a 13.
  20. reminds me of a few people I know and saw something similar this weekend. I finally had to get out of the boat, back the trailer in and load the boat myself otherwise I'd probably still be there. Every time this certain individual tries to back any trailer up, he says "I can't see where its going!!!" I remind him that as long as you can see the side of the trailer, you don't need to know where the actual back of the trailer is. You are heading to the ramp so there really shouldn't be anything behind you... Drives me nuts. Now, I am not saying I am perfect but man some people really have no business at a launch.
  21. So basically, that cop could have went up to the individual and asked to see the fishing license if she so felt like getting out of her car but that is about it. Well, at least that is what I am getting from the info provided.
  22. See, that makes sense to me. The few times I have ever been stopped by the OPP(again, Marine unit), they have never once looked in the livewell or asked me about the fish. Only if I had a fishing license and operators card. They would also check for safety equipment. The situation definitely sucks no matter how you look at it but other than a badge, I am almost certain that cop had no more authority than OI did. If she would have gone up to the person fishing, the badge may have made a difference but so could have calling the tip line.
  23. Going back to the original post, is it confirmed that ALL O.P>p officers can enforce MNR regulations? I was under the impression that it was only the marine units that could enforce SOME of the regs. Like, mostly the safe boating regs. Anytime I have ever read anything to do with poaching, it always seems to be handled by a CO. I have seen CO's work with the marine units as well but I have never heard of a traffic cop providing a citation for an MNR regulation. I have been looking when I have a bit of time to see if I can find anything that supports the OPP officers enforcing the regs and I haven't found anything yet.
  24. I used the umbrella things Fisherman brought up and it didn't last a week so I went back to using the seats that came with the boat.
