  1. The Adams St and the 25th SdRd is just south of IBP and yesterday this was ALL Wide open. I guess that could be where the Fire Dept caught up to them and they actually started their drift off the Sixth. Rick
  2. West side of Simcoe from Innisfil Beach Park to the Islands and up to Oro appears to be Ice free. Rick
  3. Sunday the Ice was black, Sunday Temp +16'C Monday Temp + 16'C Tuesday Temp +12'C After last nights major rain there is zero water on top and the ice is white and Very Porous looking. You figure it out from there!!! Rick
  4. Been Fishing from Gilford to Little Cedar to the PumpHouse to Roches this week. Where I have drilled Holes 12" Ice in the Gilford area to 8-10 up at Little Cedar Which is the first point North of Lefroy. Starting to get some slush spots, more so in the Roches Point area. not too deep maybe 8" you shouldn't get stuck but it will slow you down! Lots of Fish but LOTS of Dinks. Always find enough for a meal. Slab Grabber, Forage minnow and the Bug doing the catching. Rick
  5. Ryan As these Herring in Simcoe, are getting big, at least long and skinny, to what I remember. I would think a 15-20lb Laker would likely have no problem taking one down, but what about the smaller 4-8Lb Laker would He still tackle a 20" Herring? You said their Life Cycle is about 6 years. How long does it take them to get full size say 20"? I am guessing they grow fast. Rick
  6. Lunatic I have a Minnkota 8 months old for sale. you have a PM
  7. HH It is +4'C here in Gilford but no rain, So I would think the Ice will still be snow covered on Sat. Have Fun Rick
  8. Hi Doug Looks like Matt has fixed you up But if you need another one I have a Otter but no tow bar. Rick
  9. While on the Subject of Trolling Motors Rob I agrree with the others re 60" you can adjust it as short as you want. Question I bought a boat package last year with a Power Drive 54" shaft 55 Lbs thrust 12 Volt. I put in a second 12 volt battery and I want to add ipilot. Would you recommend just adding ipilot to the current PD Or Upgrade to something that has ipilot,24Volt, Built in Transducer, more thrust. I could use a little more thrust as it is on a 17' aluminum with full windshield. Thanks Rick

  15. You guys are doing a Great Job!! It won't take much to heat with all the insulation, Where are you going to put it? once we get Ice. Rick

  23. It will be Good!! 2 x 10's will be a little heavy, But sometimes you gotta use what you have, I am sure you young Lads won't let that stop you from having some 'Fun' on the Ice. Rick
  24. Well Vin you asked for "View Points" So here's my $.02! I have been using the H-Bird 55 since Dec '08 and it is a great unit and I would highly recommend it! But having said that I have seen all the makes at work Vex,Marcum and H Bird and they all work and all do mark fish and all are accurate. You need to learn how to set up your machine, how to read it and to trust what it is telling you. The H-Bird 45 and 55,The Marcum Lx-5 and Lx-7 and the Vex Fl 18 and Fl 20 have similar functions and do pretty much the same job. As for interference I have fished within 30' of my friends Lx 5 and no issues and a Bud has set up his Lowrance x67 in my portable so within 5 ft of the H Bird and no interference on either unit. As for the best unit for the $$ and what will work as advertised you will be hard pressed to find a better deal right now than the Lowrance 67-Icemachine, Gagnons had them on for $249 as a door crasher but you can still get them for $279. On another note!! In '08 when I bought my H-Bird 55 I did not have a fishing boat. This last summer I bought a boat and am now looking at a Lowrance HDS Gen 2 Likely the 7. As Terry stated this gives you more options again, GPS with mapping and set up to be portable would be a year round use!! SaltyDawg Whenever we get Ice here on Simcoe/Cooks Bay and you are in the neihborhood look me up and I would be more than happy to show you the H-Bird in action Rick
  25. Great shot! Very Nice! Rick
