  1. 1997 or 2003 not a big diff, our 9.9 Evinrude is a 1978 my dad's 80hp was also about 30+ years old as well, sold in good working condition, don't know how long it lasted after that. Those engines are like tanks, unless you got the one in a million lemon which can happen or bad luck when you were using it or someone abused it (never lend a boat). I've never heard a bad word about them, til now.
  2. Our evinrudes been going 30 + years on oil changes and regular maintenance, how did you manage to blow a gasket on a 2003???? Evenrude=EVENGREAT They've been in business for a million years and you don't do that by selling poor product (or giving away free parts to everyone that trashes their engine)
  3. Got this one in the email yesterday A man robs a bank and takes hostages. He asks the first hostage, "did you see me rob the bank". The hostage answers "yes". The robber, promptly, shoots him in the head. Then he asks the second hostage if he saw him rob the bank. The hostage answers, "no, but my wife did".
  4. yellows my favorite go to color, white is #2 unless I am fishing over rocky bottoms, then I use red/brown or whatever crayfish color there is in my box (I have nice Phoenix grubs in a crayfish finish)
  5. looks illegal as my guess, fun and would like to try, but illegal. I recall something in the regs about using rod reel etc, but to be sure, research would be needed. if nothing directly on point, it would be in the grey area of legal but 'is it ethical', which we have lots of experts here. LOL
  6. Everyone breaks rods on the hookset...car doors must happen to other people, who never ask for warranty coverage LOL Lets ban gloomis I've received great service (note NOT FREE) from gloomis in Mount Hope, for my rods and friends rods, including a pal which stepped on his rod tip and was very glad to pay a few bucks for a replacement loomis. Fact is properly cared for graphite rods won't break on hook sets but will if they have been knicked or hit (ie abused). Rods with no question asked warranties are not 'free' they factor that into the cost, so if you take good care of your rods, you are really subsidizing guys that slam car doors on rod tips.
  7. Sitting at my desk in Toronto, I can now hear the phones in Scarborough ringing off the hook about the new 'drive to' hot spots on Simoce.
  8. Awesome report... Got a laugh out of the notebook, I didn't bring one on my honeymoon. Kirk (just Kirk) LOL
  9. How to own a million dollar business in Ontario, Buy a 2 million dollar company and work your tail off for one year.
  10. Happy Birthday Cliff (I'm not late, I'm actually 364 days early)
  11. I heard ice fishing is cancelled for now as it is being gouged as fast as its being made...
  12. Ditto TG 40 minutes on the highway plus 407 tolls...how much does that cost??? I find people have selective vision and hearing when it comes to prices...BPS could probably post 'free fishing rod on Mondays' on its website, in an ancient Greek language, using the smallest microfont technically available and people would be lined up and down the street to pickup their free rod, because 'they saw it on the web site' (and enlarged it and translated it)
  13. He was manipulating stock prices...way more serious than clogging up an inbox, but hardly anyone gets the max. and never mind US law, this site is pretty hard on spammers LOL

My sympathies to those personally affected by this, PF and DanC, and apologies for my post for it being insensitive. You can't get rid of Carter defence or other defences as a solution...dui is a crmiinal record, same type of criminal record as rapists, drug dealers etc. Its very subjective about how impaired is someone is to criminally 'impaired' Anyone thats had 2 or 3, or as recently shown on global tv, even tied one on and thought they had slept if off overnight, can still be potentially charged with impaired or over 80 the next morning. Amongst the Asian race, due to genetic difference in the ability for alcohol breakdown, even ONE drink can cause legal impairment. Its one of the most likely criminal offences to be charged against your average 'law abiding' joe citizen. (My personal opinion is it should be 0% until age 24, once all the hormones are somewhat under control and judgment is not 'teen' level).

I can see the point, its pretty obvious, just trying to lighten up the mood before everyone breaks out the tissue boxes. Still in my Happy New Year mode.

We don't know from this poem that the boy is actually guilty of drinking and driving...he may be accused of that but he's innocent until proven guilty, so the poem just needs to add the word "allegedly" and its fine. "Because he allegedly chose to drink and drive,"
  17. If you do your homework and properly study the issue, you can save alot on your utility bill, I did it for NG and am looking into electricity as well in the near future. Nothing gets cheaper over time.
  18. ctc has long plastic ones, I can sit with the little guy for toboganning and its handy on ice fishing trips, look at more than just one ctc and you might be happy
  19. That's what one can expect from a former penal colony, I guess some of the criminals offspring now have medical degrees and opinions.
  20. Scotsman, walking into girlfriends bedroom, holding a lamb under his arm announces: You see honey, this is the pig I have sex with when you aren't feeling well. GIRLFRIEND: I think you'll find its a lamb...dumbass SCOTSMAN: I think you'll find I wasn't talking to you (Got this oldie but goodie in the email today)
  21. There's nothing funny about three counts of assault. LOL My recollection of Superdave's version involved a sledgehammer.
  22. I thought this was a new trend started by grandmans thread
  23. Sorry to hear Gary. My condolences. When I saw your post, I remembered when I first saw that pic you posted of your mom a while ago, it looks like a great moment.
  24. We had a tent trailer years ago, 14 footer went on the car (74 Ford Torino Wagon was big enough to take it in comfort) but lots of our friends put their boat on their tent trailer without a problem, some without racks, tied down right on the trailer hard top. I think the regs require 2 rope tied downs across and one on the front and one on the back. Do a dry run before packing up the family to make sure everythings fit and secure.
  25. I guess if they are slow responding...then thats another thread about why their best friends Aunt Mabel had to wait 10 minutes for the cops to show up after she heard a squeak in her house. Poor cops, they never know how quickly, or quick, but not so fast, to respond to a call (and better not be too slow either!!!)
