  1. Yeah it's funny how it was there this morning and as soon as I mentioned it the ad was gone completely from the page.
  2. Well it was definitely there 2 hours ago Chris and that's what made me curious.
  3. Morning boys, I haven't posted much here lately but I was browsing the classified section of this board this morning and came across an ad in the miscellaneous section that was "pinned" to the top of the page. Struck me as odd that we can now have our ads pinned when the rules state they can't even be bumped to the top or they'll be removed. Just curious about this and wondered if the rules have changed or did I just miss something ??
  4. Until a few days ago my Photobucket had become slow and I had to log in every time I used it, but now it's fast again and I no longer need to log in each time. No idea what happened but it seems I can still post pictures with no issues. I spose time will tell though.
  5. Not another place in this big old world I'd rather live.
  6. I have a lot of doves around my place, specially in the winter at the bird feeders, but a couple years back I spotted this guy on the front lawn. He was bigger than the normal doves I see, was much lighter in color and had a black ring on his neck. I'd never seen one before so I looked him up and it's called a ring necked dove and is native to Eastern & Southern Africa. I contacted some bird clubs and it turns out this was only the 2nd ever reported sighting of this critter in Canada so I was pretty happy with that. They were amazed that it somehow got here all the way from Africa and wanted to send some birders over here to try and spot him again but I didn't like that idea so I just gave them a general location and let it go at that. The dove hung around for a couple days then disappeared https://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwiDsKOq1uXUAhUp5oMKHc9PCSMQFggkMAA&url=https%3A%2F%2Fen.wikipedia.org%2Fwiki%2FRing-necked_dove&usg=AFQjCNGBep1J0GZEofbF82XIworuoroo2w
  7. Legend Plows were the most expensive musky baits I used and they went for around $85 each but I think they've come down since then. Legend Perchbaits are a smaller version but also an excellent trolling bait that were about $50. Been awhile since I purchased baits though so not sure where all the prices are now.
  8. Very nice fish indeed and congrats on the PB so early in the season. Many guys fish for years looking for one like that.
  9. That really stinks Brian but at least you weren't injured too badly. It's the same year and model as mine and I remember very clearly the discussions we had about the 2 vehicles. Sadly the insurance companies never want to fork out the cash that vehicles are actually worth.
  10. Best of luck to your wife TG, this filthy disease can be beaten as my wife proved 2 1/2 years ago. Keep us posted please.
  11. Best reply in this entire very weird thread. Guys around here complain when not enough poachers are nabbed then complain when the CO's are trying to catch the poachers. Sorta like the guys that complain when the roads aren't cleared of snow fast enough then complain even more when they get held up behind a snow plow.
  12. I don't know about anywhere else in the system but the water is a couple feet above above normal at both Young's Point and Lakefield Locks and with the dams pretty well wide open the current is very strong and moving unbelievably fast. Can't really imagine they'd want anybody trying to navigate thru the white water on the downside of the locks. I'm guessing the entire Otonabee River would be pretty tough too. The local boat ramps are closed too. Here's a couple pics I took this morning at the Young's Point lock.
  13. Thanks for the assistance boys, the chair has now been sold for a price both of us are happy with,
  14. I know for a fact the finish was never touched in the 50 years Dad had the chair and have no clue what was done to it before then, maybe it's still original but who knows but thanks to your wife for her thoughts on it. And Geoff, I've looked for any identifying marks but don't see anything.
  15. Thanks for the link Brian, I'll see if I can come up with something.
  16. Hi guys, I have a very old rocking chair that someone is interested in buying but neither of us has any idea what it's worth and I was wondering if anyone here could give me a ball park number. My Dad bought it from a friend of his about 50 years ago and it was quite old then but I have no guess on the actual age. It's in very good condition and quite heavy and my guess is it's made of oak. It appears to be held together with wooden dowels but it could even be screws with wooden plugs over top. The braces under the seat have screws in them. Only reason I'm even considering selling it is we never use it and I'd much rather see it go to a home where it'll be used the way it's sposed to be. I'd certainly appreciate it if anyone could give me an honest estimate on the value of this old gem.
  17. I sold my 1880 last summer and your right, they're awesome boats, I bought it new in "09 and after 7 years there was never an issue. The ride quality in rough water is far superior to any tin boat I was ever in. Would definitely recommend Deep V Skeeters to anyone.
  18. My touque & jacket got lost when we moved but I've still got my mug although the handle fell off the 1st time I ever poured hot coffee into it The good ole days sure were that.
  19. I'm just south of Burleigh Falls and although the fields are all bare there's still plenty of snow in the heavier woods so I would guess the Haliburton area will be similar.
  20. I posted a couple months ago about having 5 bucks along with a bunch of does in my yard every day and how one had a great set of antlers. I was out wandering around this morning and found one that had dropped off the biggest critter right at the back of the yard. It's been chewed on a bit but still very impressive. I'm gonna clean it up and put it on the fireplace mantle.
  21. Over the years I bought a ton of Tony's Boo-Tails and they were some of the best and most productive musky baits I ever used. The man makes some outstanding lures....real top quality.
  22. I use Photobucket all the time with no issues and am just curious as to what problems you fellas are having with it ?
  23. Best of luck in your fight against this illness and we'll all be pulling for you.
  24. There sure as heck is this year.
  25. Never could understand why so many can't see the obvious Bernie Always enjoy reading of the Bernie weekends up north.
