If they'd have told me to jump 90' in that little net to be hired Paul I'd have gone back into the Navy LOL

Been watching the sad news about GM closing down after a century and so many folks losing the jobs they'd held for years. They made good money for a long time but now I spose most of them have to start over somewhere else. Just wondering if any of you guys had good jobs you thought you'd have for a long time then had the rug pulled out from under you ? I did OK myself, after I finished school I went into the Navy for a few years then joined the Fire Dept. in Toronto and stayed there for 32 years. Both jobs were secure with no threat of lay-offs and I was able to retire at 53 years old. How about you guys, any sad stories like the folks at GM who thought they were set for life ?

Hey, I heard that LOL Most lakes do seem to be frozen over around here although I have no idea how thick this ice is but with some colder weather on the way this week is should certainly improve things.

We drove across New York, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine in September Paul and it sure was nice to see the cheap American gas, but after figuring in the difference in the dollars there probably wouldn't be much savings.

15 miles north of Peterboro in Lakefield but the other stations around the area will be the same, they all go up & down together.
-
Went into town this morning and saw where gas prices jumped 16.3 cents per litre over night, that's 73 cents per gallon and is about the biggest one day increase I remember.

I drove down the the Peterboro store for the 7:00 opening this morning and there were about 9 bazillion people ahead of me when the door opened. Everybody got in quick though and I knew exactly what I wanted and where it was and I was out the door again in 15 minutes. A few minutes of utter pandemonium but I saved myself $250 so it was worth the craziness LOL

I bought a St. Croix Legend Tournament musky rod from Gagnons a few years back and they were a full $100 cheaper then SAIL across the hwy.

1st you tell Cisco he shouldn't counter folks who disagree with him then in the next sentence you tell him about Canadians who fought for our right to voice our opinions. Don't think you can have it both ways LOL
-
No such thing as a bad musky no matter what the markings are...they're all good

About 18 years ago my brother and I went to Lost Lake Lodge near Gowganda and had a great trip. They had boats on a bunch of different lakes and you just made small portages between them carrying your gear and small outboard motor. No Idea what it's like now but may be worth checking out and if it's as good as it used to be you'll have a nice trip.

Used to be fun times for sure Kelvin, there's still a few of us who head to the West Arm every June.

Since I retired from fishing I seldom catch anything these days LOL

Yet you spelled grammer wrong ....should be grammAr LOL

Get yourself a Keel-Guard and install it on your glass boat, it's one of the best investments you'll make. I put my glass Skeeter on top of a submerged rock the size of a pick-up and even though I was going slow it could have done some serious damage, but with the Keel-Guard there wasn't a mark.

Probably 45 years ago my Dad and I were camping east of Algonquin Park in November during the deer hunt. One day we heard a hound howling off in the distance and then heard it again thru the night, again the next day & then on the 2nd evening while we were sitting around the campfire she came outta the bush and walked up to us. Guess she was cold and wanted to be near the fire. The poor pooch was starving so we fed her a good supper and then she slept in the tent with us. Thru the night she was making some weird noises so I got my flashlight and realized she was giving birth to a pup. Turns out the pup was dead so I took it outside and buried it. The dog was going crazy and dug it up so I buried it again and put a big rock on it. Anyways, the dog had a tag on her collar with a phone # so we called the owner in Ottawa. He said they'd lost the dog a week ago so we gave him directions to our camp and he showed up in the afternoon and picked up his pooch. Don't know if that's what's in the video TJ but a lost dog is sure a possibility

I've been a member of this board for 17 years and don't ever remember it being strictly fishing, infact some of the best ever discussions around here have had nothing to do with fishing. As far as Don Cherry's opinions, he's entitled to think whatever he wants. Personally, I buy & wear a poppy the 1st day they become available and always wear it till the 11th but if I see someone not wearing one I certainly wouldn't chastise him for it because it's his choice.

I never became a fan of ice fishing, just something I never took an interest in. My Grandparents had a water front home on Simcoe for years and had a hut that I think I used once and my brother had a waterfront home on Scugog with a hut also that I used once. Went out with the boys from this site a few times but again no interest. Staring down a hole in the ice all day just never became my thing I spose.

For anyone who may be interested this is an update from "The Retired Toronto Firefighters Association" on the fireman who fell off the 3 story roof in Toronto a few days ago. +++++++ So here is the latest update on the Captain ( Jim Warren Jr.) who was severely injured the other night. He seems to have made good progress, but has a long road ahead for complete recovery....the other Firefighter was sent home the next day with broken bones. We all continue to send our support and goodwill to those affected by this intense fire scene. A reminder of the unpredictable situations faced by all 1st responders daily. I will add, the outpouring of positive thoughts, energy and prayers, are appreciated by all those involved, I know it means a lot to them... Retired Toronto Fire Fighters Association Update on our Injured Brothers The Capt remaining in hospital has a broken jaw, several broken ribs and damaged vertebrae. He was put into an induced coma but was taken out of the coma around noon yesterday. This was to allow the doctors to assess his brain function. He gave doctors a thumbs up (literally). They put him back into the coma where he will be kept for a few days to allow his brain to heal. He is expected to make a full recovery. Wheew! +++++

Every time I hear about roundabouts I think of Chevy Chase in European Vacation where he spent 1/2 the day trying to exit one in London LOL

This guy was tiny but check out the size of the lure he attacked, just shows how aggressive these guys really are. I just had to take the little guys picture because of his gutsy attitude LOL
