  1. John, I'm thinking you may have been racing on some VERY thin ice back then. I had a house trailer just south of Youngs Point on Katchawanooka for 36 years and it has alot of current all year long and never gets more than a skim of ice, even on the coldest days and we wouldn't even run our snowmobiles on it. Clear Lake to the north also has some current, especially on the south end near Youngs Point where it gets pretty strong approaching the dam. Even now I live just 2 miles north of there and never see anyone on the ice at all with the exception of a few snowmobiles running very close to shore, infact I don't even see any ice huts out there. You must be one lucky dood And Cliff, really happy to hear your still with us, that musta been quite a shock when you broke through.
  2. I agree and there's probably still lotsa good ones around. I've had a couple and their excellent.
  3. I remember that day well Norm, lotsa laffs despite the torrential downpour all morning. Nice burgers in Hooters afterwards though
  4. Everything has it's price ya know
  5. What I like most about hydraulic steering is the fact that you no longer have to contend with steering torque. No matter what your speed is the steering remains very easy, even with one hand. You'll be very happy with the upgrade Art.
  6. Nice, I've heard Suburbans are one of the best tow vehicles around.
  7. Makes perfect sense to me Bruce
  8. I complained to my wife this morning because we got another 2" of snow last night that I had to clean up. Those pictures kinda bring my "problems" into focus. I spose we all whine & moan about trivial nonsence without thinking about the REAL problems that millions of folks around the world have EVERY DAY that we never think about in this country. Thanks for posting the pictures Albert.

    Time change

I remember a smokey basement fire we responded to in the middle of the night many years ago where fortunately, all the people in the house had escaped the fire and were standing on the front lawn when we arrived. Funny thing though, they only had one smoke detector in the entire house and it was in the kitchen, so of course every time they burned the toast the detector sounded. They got tired of it happening all the time so rather than move it to a better location, they simply removed it entirely and stuck it in a drawer.....outta sight, outta mind. Luckily the smoke was heavy enough that it was able to get into the drawer and activate the alarm and save their lives. So, even though their not always in the ideal location, they can still save your lives.
  10. Pigeontroller also has a nice setup on his Lund with a board going across the stern. He may see this and post the pictures of his rig.
  11. I'm just off 28 hi-way, 1/2 way between Youngs Point & Burliegh Falls Ron, lemme know the next time your coming thru and I'll put the coffee pot on.

Smoke detectors have become so inexpensive in the last few years there's no reason not to have your house full of them. You can get one for the price of a box of beer and probably 3 of them for the money wasted on a carton of cigarettes. And as was mentioned above, be sure to have carbon monoxide detectors on every floor too. You can't spend too much money on your families safety.
  13. For the most part Eric, the pike are small but like anywhere, they can be aggressive some days. Here's an average sized one that grabbed an 18" Bull Dawg a couple years back. As mentioned above though, the fishing there is nothing like it used to be and you'd probably do just as well in your usual places in Lake O off Toronto and save the drive.
  14. I was sitting in the truck out in front of the hotel waiting for a bud to show up when you went thru. You coulda joined us for breakfast.
  15. It very well could be Ron if the right amount of $$$$ is offered And BTW Ron, it would be polite of you to wave back to folks when your cruising thru Lakefield early on a Sunday morning
  16. Welcome home & thanks for the fish'n tale Joey, sounds like a great vacation for everybody. Nasty roads though, good to hear everyone made it home safely.
  17. You've got a good eye Chris That musky was my signature for a very long time so I thought the old girl needed a vacation for awhile
  18. Thanks Dave, I always use pictures whenever I'm advertising anything.
  19. I listed an excercise bike a few weeks back and within 2 days it was way back on page 3. Things move REALLY fast there sometimes.
  20. Thanks guys, I've used the site before and am aware it's free but just thought keeping it up front for a week would be better. And your right Chris, time is NEVER an issue for me
  21. I'm gonna be listing some stuff for sale on kijiji and they advertise that it can be kept on the front page for a week for $4.99 on a credit card. I don't normally use credit cards and certainly don't want to give out the number unless I'm absolutely certain about them. They advertise the site is secure but does anyone know for sure ??
  22. It's terrible what's happening in Japan and it just seems to keep getting worse.
  23. If you end up in the Beaches your only a couple minutes from Ashbridges Bay Yacht Club on Lake Ontario. I don't know if they'll allow you to keep a small boat there or not but they have a huge storage yard where they keep alot of large sailboats for the winter. Might be worth a try. http://www.abyc.on.ca/ Also in the Beaches your within walking distance of the streetcar line that'll take you straight into the downtown core.
  24. I believe the term is cubit and pretty sure it's the distance from your wrist to your elbow. But then again, it's been a very long time since I built an arc
  25. I'm watching the news now and it looks like they got hammered by that 7 meter wave with all the buildings and cars being swept away like toys. Sounds like there's even bigger waves heading for other locations too.
