Cute little pup Brian and you'll give him as good a home and make him as welcome to your family as Cuddles. I think Gizmo looks like Marvin when he was a pup

We've got several mechanics on this board and every one is as honest as the day is long. I wouldn't paint everybody with the same brush.

I once accidently left a Rule pump running (dry) for 24 hours and it didn't affect it at all, infact as far as I know that pump is still working today, 7 or 8 years later.

Just no sympathy at all Paul

Starting to get a bit of wet snow falling over my way now and the weather dood says we may get a few inches. My wife leaves in 3 hours for a 2 week cruise across the Pacific to Hawaii and told me she's sorry to hear about the lousy weather approaching us but she really doesn't care and sorry for my bad luck.

I only fish for muskies but my best times are as the sun breaks over the horizon in the morning and then the hour before and after sunset.

There ya go Ron, keep up the good work.

I read alot if different boating and fishing sites and the discussion on Marathon trailer tires comes up quite freqentely and I always find them interesting. There never seems to be a middle ground on them and guys are either very happy with them or think their nothing but garbage. Some guys say they've run them for years with zero problems and other guys are having them blow apart almost right away. They used to be made in the USA and are now from China but there's still alot of differing opinions. My current boat came on an EZ Loader with Marathons made in China and I towed it for 2 years and never had an issue. I got a new tandem axle trailer last year and those tire are also Chinese made Marathons and after one season I'm happy with them....so far anyhoo. Carliles are another tire that get mixed reviews and again guys either love them or hate them. I had Carliles on a Yacht Club trailer I got new in '99 and was very happy with them. I never keep tires longer than 4 or 5 years and changed those ones for more Carliles and again was happy with them. I'm very fussy with tire maintanance whether it's on my trailers or trucks and rotate them regularily, inspect them alot and check the air pressure before EVERY trip, even short ones which IMHO is the #1 thing for keeping tires safe. Poorly maintained tires are probably the biggest reason for tire failier but far too many guys don't seem to realise that. Of course thats just my opinion for what it's worth.

Always look forward to the jiggy reports TJ !!

I got the same letter 3 times over the course of several years after purchasing a new boat back in '99. I sent them a copy of my bill of sale twice but ignored the 3rd letter and haven't heard back. Nothing but a typical government fiasco. Unfortunately I can't remember who I sent them to...sorry.

Wonderful news Richard !!!! -
Happy Birthday Bud, sounds like it's been a goodun so far.

You could very well be right on that but I just assumed all motors had the adjusting fin. I had a new 25 Johnson back in the late 80's that definetely had one.
-
Here's a picture I just took of mine Justin. You may need to buy a new one.
-
Looks like your fin is totally missing Justin. It would be just about where those 2 screw heads are in front of your Dad's nose.
-
Yup, that's correct Justin but just move it a bit at a time as it doesn't take much to fix it.
-
Probably just need to adjust the fin above the prop Justin.

To me personally, I always find it kinda sad to see a good ship sunk or scrapped, specially if it's one I've had a connection with. HMCS Annapolis was built back in the early 60's and I had the pleasure of serving aboard her in 1966. She was a very high tech ship back in the day and spent over 30 years in service. Alot of ships from different countries are completely cleaned of all hazardous materials and sunk to become artificial reefs for both fish and skuba divers. Several old Canadian ships have already been sunk and Annapolis is still waiting her turn. This is Annapolis back in all her glory. And sadly this is how she looks today, totally stripped down and waiting to be sunk. Another beautiful ship from the early 60's that served Canada well for many years was HMCS Provider. She was a tanker that supplied fuel to the fleet while at sea and I served aboard her in 1964. This is Provider fueling a pair of destroyers at sea. And another of her fueling an aircraft carrier When her years of service were completed she was sadly sold to a scrap dealer in Turkey but was at least given a good send-off when she left harbour for the last time behind an ocean going tug. And here she is in Turkey just before the torches were put to her.

Just curious Geoff, but high 50's seems really fast for an 18.6 boat with only a 115 pushing it. Are you measuring your speed with a speedometer or is that reading coming from a GPS ?? There can be quite a difference between the 2 and a speedo is very often way off. -
I had to drive down to Peterboro this morning and I needed gas. I checked all the gas stations on the way into town and the cheapest was ESSO at $1.30 so on the way back home that's who got my money.

I never noticed black wingtips but it's definetely possible, so it could indeed have been a snow goose tagging along with the Canadas. I see the odd swan flying around this area and as I said I thought maybe that's what it was at first but he seemed too small. Anyways, it was certainly kool to see.
-
There was a flock of Canada Geese flying very low over the house this morning to land on the lake and one of them was snow white with a black beak. If he'd been alone I would have figured he was a small swan but he was about the same size as all his buds. I looked it up on Google and found some pictures of them so I spose they aren't really that un-common but I thought it was pretty interesting. Here's a picture from Google

Congratulations Mike and all the best to everyone.
