  1. Looking forward to it Regan, infact I've been thinking about it alot since John & I took a cruise up there for a look-see last summer and I think I may have found a couple good looking spots.
  2. And a Happy New Year to you & Goldie too Regan. Great spending time with you guys last year and Diane and I are looking forward to being up there again in June.
  3. And a Happy New Year to you & yours too Shloim and all the other OFC'ers
  4. My brother used to be a volunteer fireman and they got called out one night when someone heard screaming coming from the ice on Scugog. Ed & 3 others drove to the shore then carrying an extension ladder and any other gear they needed started walking across the thin ice towards the screams. The ice was cracking around them as they walked but they kept going until they reached the spot where the guys went through. One man was already dead and the other not far from it but they got him out and into shore where an ambulance was waiting. He was taken to hospital where luckily he survived.
  5. Ain't that a sad truth.
  6. Years ago my grandparents owned a water front home up in the n/w corner of Simcoe. I was fishing out in front of the house one day back in 1961 and found a wallet floating in the water and inside was $37 cash along with all the usual stuff. The owner lived in Toronto so I called him to tell him I'd found his wallet. He was obviously happy and asked if I could mail it back to him and for me to keep $7 for myself. Doesn't sound like much now but 53 years ago $7 was a big wad of loot to a kid. Like everyone else who spends time on the water I've found lots of other things floating around but that wallet is something I've always remembered.
  7. That's the way we always did it back in the day Mike and we always caught fish.
  8. I was just by there an hour ago Pete, I could have dropped in and checked it had I known.
  9. Your a poppy that little sweetie will remember her whole life Brian.
  10. Your a good man Colin !!
  11. Good having you back Steve, I wondered where the heck you got to.
  12. Sounds like fun Norm, unless your the one who has to clean up afterwards
  13. We normally do a turkey and a ham but switched it up this year and did a prime rib bought from a local butcher in town and it was absolutely amazing. Put it in a 500 degree oven for 20 minutes then lowered it to 300 and when it came out it was perfect. Did veggies, Yorkshire Puddings and mashed Yukon Gold with it then finished it off with my wifes home made trifle and I was a happy man.
  14. Brian, I always tell my kids they were born one generation too late and I honestly believe it.
  15. Yeah, but sometimes a bit TOO fast maybe
  16. Just wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year and hopefully Santa's good to everyone. It would appear as if he's already paid me a visit
  17. Love the way my 4 stroke purrs at 85 KPH
  18. Just to clarify Cliff, when I told about my friend being killed by a drunk driver I didn't mean to say anything against your joke, which I thought was darned good. Sorry if it came across the wrong way.
  19. My bud was driving to his cottage in Dunsford and a car came around a bend on hwy 35 at an estimated 80 MPH on the wrong side of the road and hit my friend head-on. John was decapitated and died instantly and the other car flipped upside down in a ditch and exploded and 4 men burned to death. Autopsies showed the 4 were all stoned drunk. My bud was father to 4 kids and didn't drink. There's nothing good comes from drinking and driving.
  20. Everything about that movie reminds me so much of my brother and me back in the 50's. Infact I'm such a fan of that movie my daughter actually bought me this for Christmas a couple years ago.
  21. Always liked the Calcutta CT baitcast series for muskies until I I started using the TE series and there's no comparison. I still have rods rigged with CT but 90 % of my casting is TE. All a personal choice though.
  22. I bought a new boat in '99 and a year or so later I got the letter asking for proof that taxes were payed. I sent a copy of the bill of sale and a year or 2 later I got the same letter again and once more I sent them a copy. Sure enough after a year I got a 3rd letter and I just ignored that one and never heard from them again. Bunch of total morons. +++ edit to add my boat was purchased in Ontario +++

    Wow

It'd be a crazy enough ride running the Niagara in that little jet boat but doing it in a kayak is just plain NUTS
  24. We have a Christmas party every year and last year a couple who were coming for the 1st time ever showed up at 7:00 Friday evening and all dressed up. We opened the door and he said "we must be early cause there's no other cars in the driveway" My wife said "yes you are, by 24 hours, the parties tomorrow night" We still laugh about it every time we see them
  25. It's been too long Kelvin.
