  1. But what about the days when the roads aren't dry John ?? Just be on any road when there's a decent snowfall and cars are slipping & sliding all over the place and can't get up even smallish hills and they've got fuming drivers lined up behind them. As I said earlier, there's absolutely NOTHING worse than being fully equipped for winter driving but you can't go anywhere because of all the drivers that say they don't need winter tires.
  2. A group of us from this board have been doing a spring trip to Nippissing for a lot of years and it often includes a big pike fry. TJ does the cooking and it's by far some of the tastiest fish anyone will ever have.
  3. There's a huge difference Steve between winter & all season tires and it encompasses starting, stopping & turning on snow covered roads. Whether you've got front wheel drive, rear wheel or all wheel drive, put winter tires on all 4 corners and the difference is definitely day & night.
  4. Then what's next Brian, a test for daytime driving and another for driving after dark ??
  5. Winter tires have been mandatory in Quebec for a few years now and they have to be used between certain dates although I don't recall what they are. Wonder if winter accident rates have changed since the new law was introduced ??
  6. I'm another one that always has dedicated winter tires plus 4X4 for the snowy months and absolutely hate getting stuck behind someone who doesn't have them. There's plenty of folks though that just don't bother to drive in nasty weather and because of that I don't really think they should be mandatory. My dad was a good example as he lived in Toronto where the roads get cleared relatively fast and he just didn't bother with winter tires in his later years and would just wait till the roads were clear. On the other hand, I had to go down to Peterboro last week when we got around 4-5" of snow and I saw a couple folks who had absolutely NO idea how to get around in that bit of white stuff and should have been riding the bus.
  7. Don't take it wrong John, you started an interesting discussion and it's good to see different opinions.
  8. Never could understand folks who have nice things and just let them rot away. If you don't want to sell them, why not give them to folks who would appreciate them.

  10. It doesn't taste like chicken Chris
  11. Thanks Brian, she's coming along nicely. As for cooking, I'm actually pretty good in the kitchen myself it's just that we've been quite busy the last while but the Christmas feasts will begin again next year when everything is back to normal.
  12. We always host a Christmas Party for friends, relatives & neighbors every year and my wife spends about 2 weeks prior baking every kind of goody imaginable. She makes up fancy gift boxes full of each & every cookie cake & tart and gives one everybody at the party. Of course I have to sample a few of each batch as they come out of the oven, just to be sure their good enough for our friends Tonight was to have been this years party but because of a recent surgery the party was cancelled and I hafta tell ya, I sure have missed the wonderful smells of baking goodies that normally fill our home this time of year. We'll still be having Dianes annual Trifal on Christmas Day and that darned near makes up for all the missed goodies.
  13. I still tell her the same thing to this day Steve
  14. I killed and ate the 1st musky I ever caught 40 odd years ago and had the skin mounted and still have the mount hanging in my garage after many many years. That's just the way things were done back in the day. I've never been one to kill things and I wish now I'd never killed that pretty 45 incher but what's done is done and there's nothing I can do about it now. I've caught & released about a bazillion muskies since then and have never intentionally killed another one, but if someone wants to keep them, it's perfectly legal as many have already said here.
  15. Less than 2" over this way Joey and it looks like we may be done already.....works for me.
  16. My Dad was home on leave from the Navy during the war in 1941 and him and some buds went to the Palais Royale and that's where him and my Mom met. Just a little bit of useless trivia for a Wednesday evening
  17. I bought a new musky pole a couple years back and other than that I'll never use all the gear I've got now. No new purchases next year.
  18. Too bad that headline wasn't from 1938
  19. The muskies are there Shane and that's all I'm looking for.
  20. I dropped off a TE awhile back as it just wasn't working properly. They made a couple adjustments and when I picked it up the next day there was no charge. Wonderful folks to deal with.
  21. I've got WFN but never look at it.
  22. I'm thinking 5:00 Pete
  23. My wife had a bike she no longer wanted so I said I'll put it out on the front lawn with a FREE sign on it. The bike was in good shape but rather than haggling over a bit of money I thought maybe someone who couldn't afford a bike would appreciate it. After an hour or so a lady knocked on the door and asked if it was free and I said yes, that's why the sign says FREE She said she was interested but didn't like the fact that there was a bit of surface rust on one of the rims. I just closed the door in her face and went back in the house. A while later the bike was gone.
  24. The smile does it every time
  25. I've done well with Kijiji and no real problems. Best was listing an item at 8:00 AM on a Sunday morning for $800, getting a reply at 9:00 saying he was interested, then him arriving at 11:00 with cash for the full amount and he was gone. Fastest loot I ever made.
