Thanks for the link FloatnFly, if the fella in town can't help me I'll give them a try.

That's what it should have been in the 1st place Mike. The LG screen is actually pretty nice though with excellent clarity and colors although it doesn't seem so good laying flat on it's face. There's a computer repair place in town that's pretty good so I'll go see him tomorrow before I try tracking it down online.

It's definitely a throw away world we're living in now George.

Doesn't really show in the pictures but that piece of plastic that snapped is quite flimsy and makes you wonder why they wouldn't use something a little more substantial to hold the weight of a 25 inch screen.

Sounds to me you found a cop on a power trip. Hope your gonna see him in court.

Wife and I are out in the kitchen an hour ago and we hear a bang coming from the den so I walk in to find my 25" computer screen laying face down on the desk.....WHAT THE HECK ?? This bracket is screwed onto the back of the screen That 1" square tab slides into the arm of this base And the darned thing just snapped off Screen still works fine so that's a good thing but I'm using the laptop now and will call LG on Monday and see if they've got another bracket. I dunno, but it seems harder to find decent quality products anymore.

I went to the Spring Show in 09 intending to pick up a couple musky baits but came home with a new Skeeter instead. The day cost me a tad more than I planned on spending

You must be as old as me

And while we're on the topic of government interference with kids having fun, lets not forget about all the municipalities banning tobogganing for fear of getting sued if little Johnny falls down and gets hurt. All I know is I'm glad I was a kid in a time when we we're allowed to go out and have fun without Big Brother hanging over our shoulders and telling us fun is now against the rules. Alot of young guys laugh when us older guys talk about the "Good Ole Days" but believe me when I tell you they really were.

That's nasty stuff Cliff but with being unconsious for a full minute I'd think a checkup by a doctor would be in order. Not a good thing when you rattle your brain like that.

Had a good read this morning about top water muskie fishing

For you boys who are giving up fishing top water baits because your thinking they don't produce, your missing the opportunity to get some very nice fish. Not much different from not doing a figure 8 after EVERY cast. -

Wait till you hook a biggun on a top water in total darkness late at night Pete when you can't see your hand in front of your face. That REALLY get's the old heart pounding LOL -
Saw it on the news Joey and agree with you 100%

My daughter and I were out musky fishing one evening and I was giving her a few pointers on top water fishing. She was casting a Topraider which is her favorite bait and I was twitching a Doc. I explained to her that a musky will often come up under a bait and just knock it out of the way, but just keep on cranking as she'll often come back and hit it again. Few minutes later we both cast at the same time and as we were cranking our baits in a musky blew up on mine but missed the hooks. I said to her, "there, that's exactly what I was talkin about" The musky then turned and hit Sheri's bait, she set the hook perfectly and led the fish into the net. She looked at me and said..."so what's so tough about that ??" darned kids !! -
Mostly if your banging your baits along the bottom Shane, just keeps the braid away from the sharp stuff a bit better.

Like anything else Peter, it's just a personal preference and just a length I find works well for me. Some guys use longer leads and some only use about 12". Ask 10 guys and you'll probably get 10 different opinions LOL

I bought a whole bunch of them a few years back and no longer have the package they came in and honestly can't remember the name of them, but whatever you get just be sure their the correct size for the diameter of fluoro your using. Don't know where your located but I used to buy all my materials from JB's in Etobicoke.
-
I'm with Matt and agree that with the longevity of fluoro it actually makes them quite inexpensive. I make my own with 130 # Seaguar and crimp them and have never had an issue. I only chase muskies 3-4 weeks a year now when I head north to Nippising but when I was pounding the water on a regular basis I'd make up new ones each year and keep the others as back-up. I use around 8" for jerk/twitch baits and then 18" for casting and 48" for trolling. Not saying fluoro is better than mono as I've never used heavy mono for leaders, but I just prefer to use what I know works well and don't find them expensive at all. All a personal preferrence though.

A friend of mine does very well with them for muskies Paul.

Good to hear Albert. On another sad note, a house just down the road from me burned to the ground yesterday morning but fortunately everyone got out safely.

Hope your friend finds shelter for his animals soon Albert, that's a sad story in these cold temps.

Back in the 50's & 60's my grandparents had a waterfront home right up in the northwest corner of Simcoe just below the Narrows and they looked out over Grape Island. The weed beds around that island used to hold so many big pike it was unbelievable and to this day I still remember fishing them as a kid. Pike up to 15 pounds were quite common and 10 pounders were the norm. We'd troll silver Williams Wablers and would always do well. Never caught a Simcoe musky myself but my old Grandfather was a master with them and did well getting them, also trolling the Williams spoons. This picture is of my grandparents after a successful trip somewhere in the 60's and although I think it's a musky, it could be a pike too, but whatever, it was a common size. We used to also go down to Kemplefelt Bay (sp) and charter a guide for laketrout. It cost us $7 per day per person and we'd supply his lunch and he supplied all the gear. We used 5' rods with large 1-1 reels and heavy copper lines. Crank in a big fish on that set-up and you had yourself a tough workout I haven't fished Simcoe now for probably 45 years and no longer know anything about it, but back in the day it was a great fishery.

They've been moving into the Kawarthas for the last few years and they sure are nice to see. Took this picture from my boat 6 or 7 years back north of Peterboro. And had these 2 circling above my house near Burliegh Falls 2 years ago.

How to keep finger tips warm in the winter
lew replied to okumasheffield's topic in General Discussion
I worked outside my whole life and always found wool mitts worn inside good leather mitts were warmer than anything else I tried, even when they were wet. Not much good though if your trying to do any fine work.
