  1. Not sure what's worse, the constant whining about winter or the never ending ramblings about "deflategate" Seems no matter what channel I put on it's ALWAYS there
  2. I've never been a fan of seeing live animals ripped apart, but it's nature & it is what it is. There's plenty of critters around here and it's always nice to see them.
  3. There's always a couple squirrels hanging around the feeder so now that the fox knows their here I'd imagine he'll be keeping a close watch around here. Couple years back I had another feeder in the back yard and there was a red squirrel that stayed close by to pick up the seeds that dropped. A big ole Barred Owl decided he'd like that little squirrel for supper and took up residence in a nearby tree where he had a clear view of everything. He was here a few days but never got the squirrel and he left. Kinda nice having him around though.
  4. I have bird feeders on the front lawn and usually have a couple squirrels around that pick up what falls on the ground. I was looking out the window 10 minutes ago and outta nowhere a fox came flying across the lawn, grabbed the squirrel, shook the daylights out of him and killed him before he even knew what happened. The fox then ran down the road carrying his breakfast with him. The whole thing start to finish probably didn't take 10 seconds.
  5. Good to know there was a cottager willing to risk his life to help a stranger.
  6. I was coming east across Gerard St in Toronto one day and turned north onto Broadview right at the Don Jail. As I came around the corner there was a cop car at the curb and as I passed him he pulled out, came in behind me and flashed his red lights. I pulled over and he walked up to my car. I joked that I KNEW I wasn't speeding & I KNEW I hadn't run a red light and he laughed and said "no you didn't, but you made an illegal left turn back there" I apologized and said "OK I guess you got me, I didn't realize there was no left turn there" He smiled & simply said to pay more attention next time and have a good day Sir. Your right Cliff, most are good guys just doing a job.
  7. I drilled the hole for the locking pin larger and use a padlock in it. Unfortunate that we have to lock everything these days but sadly we share this planet with a whole bunch of garbage.
  8. Outstanding picture MB & certainly worth a "like" from me.
  9. Absolutely pathetic.
  10. Well, they did it again. Couple inches of snow coming down and once again, they did the broadcast from the salt yards 10 minutes ago
  11. Thanks Phil, losing a child is probably the toughest thing anyone will ever go through and something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.
  12. I watch CTV news from Toronto every evening and they break me up constantly with their weather talk. Seems every time their gonna get an inch of snow they do the broadcast from the city salt yards and explain how many salters and plows are ready to tackle the "storm" I dunno about anyone else but I think we've had a pretty easy winter but to listen to those guys it could be the worst winter in years. But speaking of an easy winter, as I look out the front window I can't even see across the lake it's snowing so hard
  13. What I wouldn't give to have my son back for even one hour.
  14. When it happened to me in Oshawa in November and I told them I wouldn't pay the fee, the clerk said it was strictly voluntary and in no way was I obligated to let them rip me off and the fee was withdrawn from my bill.
  15. Many years ago my Mom's sister slipped on the ice on the sidewalk in front of her house and hit her head very hard and whatever damage it caused, it completely paralysed her down one side of her body, much like a serious stroke would do. It's scary how fast a simple fall can completely ruin the rest of your life.
  16. Looks like Ajax council has decided to let the skating rink remain as it is for the remainder of the winter and then take another look at the bi-laws against front yard structures.
  17. What I did today is just a jury rig Cliff but I may upgrade it yet and keep the new piece as a spare or whatever.
  18. Lakefield, north of Peterboro, now has a walk-in clinic basically for non residents or locals without a family doctor who need attention but it also handles mini-emergencies for anyone which will help take some of the strain off the hospital emergency room. My wife had a problem back in November after some major surgery and our family doctors office was closed but the clinic took her immediately and got her all fixed up. Not sure but I think these clinics are opening across the province.
  19. It was a musky that snapped it but she was able to spit it.
  20. Be careful what you wish for
  21. Yup, but the price never comes down on the cheap disposable garbage. I'm heading out to the shop shortly to make up a temporary stand to hold the screen and it'll be far superior to what came OEM
  22. I hear ya Dave, if the copper tried to justify giving that ticket he'd probably be laughed outta court....and so he should be.
  23. Here we go
  24. Got my part ordered from a supplier for $12 in Mississaugua and should have it in a week or so. Thanks boyz. Life would be much easier if important weight bearing parts for expensive electronics weren't being made out of cheap plastic crap to save a dollar.
  25. I had to look Fonthill up on GOOGLE but see now your correct, for what it would cost me in gas $$$$ to get to your shop I could buy a new monitor But I do thank you for the offer.
