To Hell with the vaccine, I'm going to do this. But I will be asking MY Doctor's advice before trying anything. Dan.

That was more then likely a saltwater eel. When we use to go to Belgium to visit family, my Ante would make sure she had a good supply of it for my Dad. Here in London there are a number of European fish marks; that all seem to sell "fresh" eel. Maybe you can get some from a market and try your hand at smoking some? Dan.

Sounds like me. Now give me some metal, a welder, and a plasma cutter; I'd be a happy camper. Those wood saws like to bite and take fingers. The worse thing with welding is an occasional burn. Mind you it does get intense when a hot chunk of slag goes down your shirt, finds its way past your belt line and then stops to talk to the boys!!! Picture this sped up 3-4 times Dan

It likely has to do with the all mighty $$$$ ? Dan

I was raised on a tobacco farm. If there wasn't a frost to take out the first planting; Mid June would be our down time. Between replanting the odd dead plant and hoeing. So I understand, "the the crop comes first" as my Dad would beat into us kids. I've only been on one fly-in and that was to the Attawapiskat river. Loved every minute of it. Good luck on your trip. Remember catching is a bonus, if you're there with good people you can't go wrong. Again have a great trip. Looking forward to your report when you get back. Dan.

Both my kids and their spouses work out; the same as my wife and I. What we (My kids have followed suit) have always done is take one weekend a month and make them cooking days. From beef/pork roasts, chicken, spaghetti sauce, lasagna to soups and stews. Keep one of the bigger meals for our Sunday family supper. The rest go into vacuum sealer bags and then in the freezer. When we want something at the end of a long day; it's there waiting for us. With-in an hour we can be at the table having a home cooked meal. My wife is a flyer shopper; if she misses something good, my daughter or daughter in-law are texting to let all of us know where and what it is. Dan.

Yeah you mentioned that last winter. Going to take your advice; you have much more experience doing these kinds of things then I and I'm not shy to say thank you. Thank You Terry I already have a pair of steel skies off of a Skidoo; that I used on a small wheeled tow behind trailer. Going to change it up a bit, by removing the upside down fender (where the trailer wheels sat) then weld a steel rim to the support legs. It'll be drive to the ice or snow pack, removing the wheels and bolting up the skies. My 18 Volt impact driver will make short work of that. Sorry for the hijack Lew. Dan.

Just pulled my little guy out of storage. Get some maintenance done, fit a set of skies to the front wheels and wait for the big freeze to come. I was going to wash it; but then though there's no sense to polish a turd. LOL Dan.

At 2 Grand a pop, I hope you tape a whole lot of bubble wrap around the thing. LOL I'm just joking but I'm also jealous that I can't afford one. Dan.

What if you were to the have the hull sprayed; up to the level of the metal supports with high density closed cell spray foam? It'll add floatation and support between the metal cross supports; wouldn't it? High density closed cell spray foam; is supposedly "water proof" its not the same as open cell that will act like a sponge. Before suggesting this, I watch a few YouTube vids and they're using this type of foam for floating docks? I was curious (board actually. LOL) and thought I'd might try this the next time I'm fixing up an older boat or a dock? Dan.

Will marinas set up electric charging stations ?
DanD replied to misfish's topic in General Discussion
No! They've been around since the eighteen hundreds Electric Boats Dan. -
That takes patience that I just don't have any more. NICE WORK AND THE BONUS IS THAT IT'S FOR YOUR KID! Good job. Dan.

What do you mean? If there was a fishing hole there; you'd think that was a short hop. LOL Just joking. I understand the $200.00 is a good price but the fuel and time cost doesn't make it viable. Have either of you talked about meeting mid way? Have a lunch and close the deal. We didn't have a lunch; but we met half way between each other's location when I sold my boat. Hope the boat is still servicing him ( Board member) well; I felt like crap watching it being towed away. Dan.

Going to try this beacon recipe for sure. I make my own cured and smoked beacon from pork belly. We use a lot of beacon here and it be nice if it was there ready to use; after a quick nuke in the microwave. Thanks Guys! Dan.

I can't see how they can collect retroactively. There's no penalty for not plating your vehicle every year; if you're not diving it. That's what I'll be telling them; I didn't need that vehicle during such and such time frame. My 50 Chevy hasn't had a new sticker for the last three years; that its been in for restoration. When I do put it back on the road, I'll just have to pay what's left in my year till my birthday. A friend of my has a 68 Galaxie that hadn't been plated for 20+ plus years. He went in put his normal amount of money down and got his new plate and sticker. No questions asked; not even if the car is fit for the road. Dan

CTV News TORONTO -- A meteor travelling an estimated 100,000 kilometers an hour is believed to have fallen into the earth’s atmosphere on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in multiple reports of a bright flash of light above Toronto and some streaks of fire in the sky across southern Ontario. Around noon, a number of GTA residents reported seeing a fireball trail across the sky while others said they saw a large flash of nearly blinding light. A camera on the CN Tower captured a split-second view of the flash of light across the Toronto skyline. According to Dr. Denis Vida, a postdoctoral associate with the University of Western Ontario in their physics and astronomy department, a basket-ball sized meteor is believed to have entered the earth’s atmosphere at a 45-degree angle about 50 kilometers north of Syracuse, New York. “We’re still waiting for the data to come in, but we think that the rough size of the object was probably in the order of 10 centimeters. And there's still a lot of uncertainty.” Vida said that it’s still too early to know if some pieces of the meteor made it to the ground or if the rock completely disintegrated upon entry. He said the large flash of light seen primarily over Syracuse would have been the result of the meteor being fragmented by the earth’s atmosphere. “The flash was probably about 10 times brighter than the moon, the full moon,” he said. “At that moment the body either completely disintegrated or lost a lot of mass.” As of 5 p.m., more than 80 reports were made to the American Meteor Society regarding a fireball seen on Dec. 2. Those in the United States appeared to hear an audible boom following the event, Vida said. “Someone called me and said that their house shook so much that they thought a tree fell on the house.” Vida said that it’s not uncommon for meteors to enter the earth’s atmosphere and that people witness the event generally about once a month on a global scale. “But locally. It's much rarer.”

Looking for opinions from actual fisherman, not store reviews.

That river scares the hell out of me. I walked down to Devils' Hole a number of years ago. Oh man the people fishing there are "Dare Devils" themselves. The water is so fast and churning like a boiling pot of water. Watched one guy jump from shore onto a rock, then he did it again and was standing on a rock no more then 3 feet around; he was surrounded by the churning water; one misstep he'd be a goner. So yeah any type of floatation device is a good idea; along with full football gear; it may help you when bouncing off rocks; as you're going down river? I like my fishing; but that is to extreme for me; regardless of good the fishing may be. Please don't let adventures get in the way of safety. If I were tethered to a sky-crane I might think of fishing that river. LOL Dan. -
$375.00 Isn't a bad price for a functioning used RV furnace? I checked an RV salvage yard this morning, he's wanting 250 - 375 bucks depending on size and condition. That's where I bought my 25K BTU for the fish hut, 4 years ago. He must have been in a good mood that day; I got it for 200 bucks? Then just for the heck of it, I checked out what my RV wholesaler wanted (I have an account there) a new small 12K BTU direct discharge furnace was selling for (My price) $925.00 after taxes; Retail is approx. $1400.00. Just like everything else since Covid the prices have gone through the roof. Have you given any thought towards a bug Buddy heater? I have one for my enclosed 5X8 Bobsled with no insulation. I could sit in there with my coat off, the heater on low and I was nice and warm. It was -12 outside and blowing hard out on Nipissing; when we were there last winter. Forgot that I had a few pics of the inside of Bob the bobsled, Buddy the heater running and Bob comfortably coupled to Sally the tracked Sidekick. LOL Dan.

With Bombardier owning Evinrude, there won't be replacement parts issues for many years. Just like the automotive "manufacturers", they don't actually manufacture the parts that go into their vehicles. They buy them built to their spec. I can't see Bombardier/Evinrude being any different. Then there will be the aftermarket industry, that will pick up on a lot of the top moving parts and have them cloned or find a different replacement part that will fit and function. Dan.

I hear you! My daughter's little girl was born last April and it was July before our doctor felt it was safe for me to hold my granddaughter. Last weekend we were able to have our oldest (3 years old) granddaughter for a sleep over. So I know what you're saying; can't wait till we get another chance with another grandkid. Dan.

I've been in the service industry for better then 40 years now. Clients are now very demanding; I call it the Walmart syndrome. "I want it now and I want it cheep!" Not saying that's what you guys are wanting; but service providers are getting very cynical with people and that's wrong. I try and keep an open mind with all my clients and treat (deal with) them individually. Then I still get it wrong at times. Oh this person is cheep as hell; then they turn around and give me a free hand at bringing their vehicle back to be what it was or as close as it can be? All I'm saying is that a Lot of " want to be" self employed people don't understand what it takes to run a business and look after their clients. Like I said after all these years I still get it wrong at times? Dan.

No it doesn't, at times it makes it easier to find a potential leak. It's easier to see liquid seeping rather then air. I've converted one of my rad pressure testers with a hollow screw to pressurize lower units. I have also found that pressurizing the case doesn't always show you a leak. A worn seal for example (if not torn to shreds) may not leak while under pressure. When checking for a leak I also will fill the case with a Varsol cleaner. Chemically it won't hurt anything, it will clean out the inside of the case and then evaporate; if left open to the air, once drained out. What I do when seeing milkshake coming out of the case; is put the plug back in and pressure test. If nothing is found, drain the case and flush with varsol. Fill case with varsol, run the engine in gear of a minute or so and drain. Repeat as many times as it takes to get clear fluid draining out. The varsol has enough lubricating ability to not hurt anything, in a no load condition. After the last fill with vaesol, clean up the mess and walk away for the night. The next time out to have a look, check if there's any varsol drips and where they're coming from. Yeah I know most already know this; just putting it out there. Dan.

She is a registered nurse at sickkids here at Victoria Hospital in London. So she's getting presidential treatment, by her coworkers. If you think us fisher people are close, never get between two nurses. LOL Dan.

Well not to side step this thread; but here's another reason to listen to your doctor about this virous and the vaccine. Meet my grandson born earlier this morning. Mom and Baby are well and want out of the hospital ASAP! He looks like me body wise. Floppy boobs and a big round belly. LOL Dan.

We've been going to the same Dr. for the last 40 years. When she calls (Which she does frequently, along with the occasional house call) and says get your butt in here for the vaccine; I'll be going. I/we've (Wife, kids and grand kids) trusted her for all these years to keep us safe and healthy, I'm not going to start doubting her now. At the same time if she says hold off, she wants to do more research on it; again I will listen. I'm not going to listen to a politician's popularity poles. Dan.
