  1. I've got some 3/4 inch expanded metal that I'll try cutting out a grill like the store bought one? Weld a coupled hooks on the one end as to not to fall off and a couple of sections of angel iron to make the heating tray ridged. Thanks for showing me the idea guys. Have welder, can build! LOL Dan.
  2. The fix for that are called washers. Sorry but you're over thinking this. Make tight and water resistant concoctions as best you can and forget about it for the next 4 or 5 years. After that revisit it and clean or replace connections. I don't give a rats ass what you do to insulate these connections; mother nature will get in there eventually and have her way with it. Copper wire, connector (whatever) composition, electricity and moister; there's going to be corrosion eventually; just deal with it during annual maintenance. Dan.
  3. Would something like this work? It's supposedly waterproof. Junction Box Dan.
  4. I have no Idea? The only reason I know about the beet juice is that I went to a seminar explaining some of the reasons for brake failures. Dan.
  5. Actually Ontario has cut down on the amount of salt they're using on the roads. But they have replaced it with other corrosive items. Chemicals that do not rust metal as bad as salt; but have an adverse effect on bonding agents on vehicles. Things like brake pads that are "glued" or bonded to their steel backers. These chemicals eat the bonding agents and then spit the brake pad puck off of its backing plate. Guess what the base of one of these chemicals is; beet juice. Beet juice mixed with salt, works great as for ice melting; but eats other things that no one expected. I don't know an Icey road or brake pads blowing apart? Someone needs a kick in the ass to weight out the better of two evels! Dan.
  6. Looks good! Great place to dry gloves or maybe burn them up? LOL The grill does look useful for warming things up. Just pulled my big buddy out of storage. When to test light and it wouldn't stay lit? The pilot flame was just a whisper of a flame and couldn't heat the thermal coupler to close the gas valve. Went on-line and found a simple fix for this. A Q tip swab with about half the cotton pulled off (to fit into the pilot nozzle) and some rubbing alcohol. Stick the wet swab down the nozzle (about an inch and a half) a few times and try lighting it. Worked great one turn of the igniter and a nice torch like blue flame. Dan.
  7. Come on weather please; my fish hut has been sitting in the parking lot of my shop and it just may stay there again the year. Miss the weekends staying out on the ice; sleeping in the hut. May try putting pontoons on it and using it as a boathouse, LOL Oh crap it'll need to lose a lot of weight to do that; she's a bit on the heavy side. Dan.
  8. I wish more people would do this; BEFORE buying a used vehicle. I've lost customers after having to tell them that they just bought a pile of junk. Then I hear it was safety checked and thought it had to be ok. Sorry but all a safety certificate means is that the vehicle passed the minimum safety requirements on the day of the inspection. It doesn't mean there are no non-safety issues or that the brake pads are worn down to 3mm (min thickness) and will need brakes within a month or so. Dan.
  9. I let it run all night; so about 16 hours. It wore a line through the lettering on the rod. Didn't make it through or hurt the blue coating. I guess I'll see if that ever happens. I consider myself as a decent fisher; I just suck at catching. LOL Yes tape will be added to the wear line. Thanks for the comments and suggestions. Dan.
  10. have a look see.
  11. Yeah Long Point Bay has been a kind of a wash the last dozen of so years. Back in the 70s up to the early 90s we always had our own hut out there. Now we'd be lucky to have a weeks worth of walk-on ice? I still remember fishing out of my Dad's G10 Chevy 1/2 ton van; somewhere out on the middle of the bay? Van running, side sliding door open and the van's heater going full blast. LOL Froze the boys a few times; lucky that I have two kids after that; it was so cold. LOL Dan.
  12. Still running 3 hours since posting the vid, and running on a battery 3/4s worn down. Kind of like that Bunny thing that never stops? LOL Dan.
  13. Guess where I got the idea to make my own? LOL Saw the price and beat it by 90% not including time spent. It's a toy I want to try and play with. Dan.
  14. Like a lot of lower end businesses; they have learnt to reach out Via Internet and advertising. I other words he's burnt so many locals he needs to reach out to others who do not know what kind of slime he is! Dan. PS; I hope that somehow this thread gets back to him. Just to let him know he's not the KING of Beaverton! Maybe the jester? In my mind he's already a clown. Dan. Sorry Admin, Lock or delete my posts ageist this guy; but he's an ass!
  15. Here's what I started with and in my imagination of what to make with this jumble of parts? LOL This vid is what came of it. Will it catch fish; I have no idea? But it was fun to build. LOL Dan.
  16. Floyd Hales Fish Huts. Should be locked out not just put in lockdown like respectable businesses! He, his establishment and employees treated me as if I were leper when I asked for help. Help that they knew I was willing to pay for. I underestimated the strength of machine I needed to pull my fish hut out; after a fresh blanket of snow hit the lake. I went to Hales office and asked (for a fee) to pull my hut out to the perch grounds. The answer I received was " I'm not hooking my equipment to your junk; get out of here". What was he so afraid of; a group of six guys cutting into his business of renting huts? His smile and friendly looking picture, is a total scam. His business doesn't give a rat's ass about anyone else other then themselves! Just telling it as it happened. Dan.
  17. Ok I know I sound off the wall; but the automotive industry has been hammered with all kinds of restrictions towards emissions. Oh my God a gas cap has been leaking 2.1 PPM (Parts Per Million) turn the check engine light on; you need to get that fixed! Then some special arts person thinks, it'll look cool to burn down a whole car for his shot on a movie? Which we all know that 75% of vehicles today are assembled with plastic. There's no harmful fumes coming off that; beside the smoke will "dissipate" and not cause an environment issue. Again sorry for the rant; but? Dan.
  18. I like this comment. Environmental concerns? Why not, because "it dissipated quickly" He's an ass, no he's an ostrich; stick your head in the sand; what I can't see won't hurt me? Eventually whatever chemicals that went up into the shy and "dissipated" will come back down into our streams, rivers and lakes. Then we wonder why such and such lake has gone all but dead? This factory needs to be held responsible/liable to any effect this may have on the environment, years down the road from now. Ok I'm on a rant day. There's another thing that really pisses me off. The TV and movie industry. For our entertainment they set fires, produce explosions emitting all kinds of chemicals into the atmosphere. Guess what, most of these movies are produced in California. The US State that has the most stringent emissions laws in North America? It's all about the buck that can be made; we all care about the environment until there's money to be made. Stepping of soap box. Dan.
  19. Yes Bunk every well said!!! Thank you Gordy for your wording of the above statement. Yes health care workers are defiantly up there as frontline workers; but there are many more professions out there that have to deal with the public, on a one to one basis. The repair industry is one that I'm involved with. People need their furnaces, fridges repaired when it goes down. Me I need to keep my clients vehicles running and safe to use. We repair techs have to get close and personal with peoples stuff, let alone the person themselves. For my trade we have to go into their vehicles; vehicles that are very close quarters. Where we never know what we're going to find under the seat of a vehicle that we're repairing, lets say a power seat. Used (snot filled) tissues, dirty dippers, half eaten burgers and the worst thing I've had to deal with was a used tampon. My techs at the shop, have used so many antiseptic wipes and latex gloves trying to keep themselves and their families at home safe. So the next time you see a sign put up thanking the health care workers, remember they likely drove their vehicle to get the supplies to make the sign and then put it up. All I'm trying to say don't forget to give some thanks to the trades out there helping to keep things somewhat NORMAL! Sorry for the rent Just want the trades to be acknowledged along with the health care. Dan.
  20. What would the regs be for personally owned (permanent seasonal) hut and the people allowed to use said? Dan.
  21. You're likely right, I wasn't thinking about the thickness of the metal. If it's is a concern; just have a bung welded on the lid to thread the gauge into.
  22. It should the liquid inside the gauge is there to stop the needle quiver and it should also help dissipate the heat? What does he have to loose. If the gauge goes for a crap screw a plug in the threaded hole and he has what he started with. LOL Dan.
  23. Yeah you could easily. I have a low pressure oil filled gauge here that I was going to use on a project that I never got around to. It's yours if you want it. Drill a hole in the lid of the pressure cooker, tap in 1/4" pipe threads and you'll be good to go. Dan.
  24. Good decision on the edit; stirring a pot of crap doesn't make the stink go away. I have no idea of what you deleted; but reading your other posts over the years, I feel you knew to leave it alone; you seem to know what's fighting for. There's so much crap going on with everyone's opinion on who to believe, on what is the right tack to take on this. This will be my last post on this thread. Other then this! damn COVID! We here (web family) and our families at home will take this to the ends of the fight. Like Churchill's speech in June of 1940 said "We will never surrender" I'm going to try and keep as healthy as I can, as long as I can. There's way to many of you guys I want to meet in person. No Hugs social distancing you know. LOL Dan.
