  1. I'm printing this off, putting in a frame and hanging in my front office/client's waiting room. Most of my clients know Cathy (The wife) and will get a good laugh out of it. THANKS FOR POSTING. LOL Dan.
  2. It only takes a cop 30 seconds or less to run a license plate, to find out who the vehicle is registered to and the address of the owner. So I'm on my way to Nipissing. I'm on Hwy 11 and a cop decides to run my plate. OK know he knows I'm from London and I have a passenger in the truck. He now also has probable cause to ask covid questions. The first would likely be; do you two live at the same address. Yup I'm getting ticketed. Dan.
  3. Stay loyal to that shop and if something ever comes up that you don't understand or feel comfortable with during a service. Talk to them. Most times misunderstandings will work out for the both if you have that talk. I like it when a client questions me; it gives me the time to explain why and what we did. The people that do are my best clients; they're informed! Same as what we're dealing with Covid. The more we're (honestly) informed the better we all will be. Dan.
  4. Oh sure rub some salt in it. LOL Just joking and good that you'ar still producing! A lot of my regulars are middle class (whatever that means) workers. Some have been lucky to earn a wage from at home a lot just have been on lay off from work and to proud to take assistance. Dan.
  5. Yes I agree medical staff are working their asses off and could easily bring the virus home with them. So I'm not belittling them by any means; my daughter is a registered nurse at sick kids, here in London. But what about the other essential workers/businesses out there; me being one. I have signs on my customer entranced door; "must wear face covering to enter, no more then 3 clients at a time in the front office/waiting room". Your name, time, date and your temperature will be logged in on our visitors sheet. Who was my first client through the door this morning, a non compliant that had no mask; saying what does it matter. I asked him to leave; man was he pissed that I wouldn't work on his vehicle. I wasn't willing to take a risk of catching the virus or the fine for allowing him not to obey the new rules. Oh man my business is sucking a hind t!t! Not sure how I'm going to pay January's bills. I have three grandkids now and I'm not going to let them or the rest of may family down over profit. This is Dan stepping off his soap box. The hounds are calling though! Dan.
  6. Very nice fish and very respectable of you and your partner's respect and handling of the fish. I usually don't watch many video's but I'm glad I did this one. New fishers could learn a lot by watching. There is one thing I have to ask; is it uncomfortable walk with a horseshoe stuck up; never mind. LOL Thanks for posting. Dan.
  7. Most legit info I've read so far. Thanks! Dan.
  8. 30 years ago most pan fish that we call them now were thought of as garbage fish that were thrown back or up on shore to die. Who knows 30 years from now will the goby be a sought after fish? I sure hope we don't want to eat a mouth foaming spawn from the devil!. LOL Dan.
  9. Ok. Can you explain the flavor? Is it spicy hot or just mellow seasoning that adds flavor? We may have different tastes as in you like and I dislike; but I think it's worth the adventure. If it's spicy; I'll be left in the doghouse for yet another night. LOL Dan.
  10. When you get a chance can you type out the name of that spice. I tried with the picture you posted but got very confusing google hits. My wife likes almost anything pork and I would like to try this recipe and see if I get a node of approval. Just looking for some brownie points with the wife; been in the doghouse for some time now! LOL Dan
  11. If you like a few meals of fish every once and awhile, you should try Bluegills. Just as good (IMO) as walleye or perch. Plus you'll be surprised at how much meat these flat buggers give up after cleaning them. Dan.
  12. The gravy and smashed taters takes it over the top. Is that ground pork or a mixture of pork and beef? And like Doug asked what's that spice?? Dan.
  13. We use to have a trailer located at Wildwood Park; just a few miles from the bay. My son and I spent a lot of time fishing the bay. We'd launch our 12 foot tinny and 9.9 motor at the public launch just inside the Provincial Park entrance. From there we'd head to Shrewsbury ramp and then drift whatever way the breeze took us. A simple setup of a hook, sinker and a chunk of worm was all we needed. A torn in half worm worked better: blood sent? Blue gills loved it and we'd catch a whack of them. Keep enough of the plate sized for supper and let the rest go back to grow up. If the wind was up, we'd head to the strip of shore line West Erieau channel to the main lake and anchor; wait a few minutes for a hit; if no hits we'd move a few hundred yards and keep doing that until we were on top a school. Haven't fished Rondeau for a number of years; last time it was so weedy I couldn't go a 1/4 mile without clearing the boat's prop. Dan.
  14. Man that's not fair. I haven't had lunch today!!! LOL Again nice report! Dan.
  15. Oh Man I didn't think a down homer/herring choker would have the patience to do such nice work. Glad you proved me wrong. Now go find yourself a homers dance and forget that you left the rock. LOL All joking aside every time you post a pic of your latest work you can see the evolution of your skills!!! Dan.
  16. smitty55 👍 It looks like I'm giving you the finger; but believe me it's a thumbs up. LOL Dan.
  17. Sorry I'll stop and keep these opinions to myself. Thanks for putting up with my moods and personal ideals. But Some are real Pric. Never mind. LOL Dan.
  18. Thanks for sharing man. Reminds me of my one and only fly-in with my brother. My brother then was well enough to go (cancer) and we loved every minute of it. The adventure in itself was great; but being there with my brother on his last adventure will stay with me forever. Again thanks for bring back some fond memories Dan..
  19. Yeah we're being tracked after being on line checking things we might be interested in. Amazon has to be one of the worst. Look at something and then I get several emails showing that same type of item from different suppliers. Dan.
  20. Yeah it was likely a traditional thing and you did well not getting in the way of a couple of Sicilians. LOL You'd be swimming wit da fishes if you had. LOL I love old traditional foods. My dad has pasted but I still remember the recipes he taught me. The best comment I've ever received was form my sister. " it taste's just like dad's" Dan.
  21. It'll be in the hut for you to use, If we get a chance of "safely" leaving a hut out on Simcoe this year. Dan.
  22. Lew and anyone else; I understand the frustration of someone saying that they will do something and then not come through with it. Independent small business is cutthroat. You do it now or someone else will; the average (Lew I don't know you but you seem to be above average a reasonable man) client isn't willing to wait regardless of quality of workmanship. So these small business guys will overbook themselves and do what they can as long as they can. Yes it pisses off some people but the guy who "promised" to do the job has fed his family; all the while playing catch up with the work he's promised to do. Running a small business is hard work; work at times you don't get paid for. Just last week I had a number of jobs booked into the shop. Three of them were no shows; which left my techs with nothing to do in the afternoon. Now should I have overbooked the day knowing I couldn't finish all the cars? Or be honest and only booked what we could handle in one day; IF THEY BOTHERED TO SHOW UP? It's a two way street and most times it's the small business that gets cut off at an intersection. Sorry but that's my take after 40+ years of running a small business. Dan.
  23. I understand working "under the table" but I can't do that (very much) with a brick and mortar business. I've been audited twice in the last 10 years; being scrutinized me on why I have more parts coming into the business, then showing going out. I said those parts are in inventory. I then had to walk this auditor around the shop, showing her the inventory that she had not idea of what she was looking at. I got away with it but at my age I have had to stop the under the table jobs; can't loose the shop until I can sell it or close it; without raising any eyebrows.
  24. Woke up on this day and started my 61st year. I was greeted with a couple of things that made me cry with being so proud of my family’s love.
  25. Looks like a cloud of bait fish on a graph; but it's in the sky? Kind of funny of how the bird flock and the fish school look about the same? Mast together but are still individual. Nature sure does have some strange crap happening. Dan.
