  1. Sorry to bring this back to the top; but thought I let you know the questions the Bell operator ask while I was trying to cancel my Bell internet service. Q- Why are you canceling. A- Not happy with the service Q- What can we do better for you A- Nothing Q- Who will your new provider be A- None of Bell's business Q- What is the new provider's billing rate. A- None of Bell's business Q - Have you switched to fiber for increased speed A - None of Bell's business Q - Could I have a sales rep call you A - NO! Please just cancel my internet! Ok Sir I'll have a Purolator label sent out to you and your internet will be turned off as of tomorrow at approx. this hour. At least 30 minutes on the phone with her, trying to pry information out of me! Just turn the frigging service off! LOL Dan.
  2. Have a look at Ontario Fishing Network. There are tons of links directing you to lodges all around Northern Ontario. You should be able to find what you're looking for? TJ (The Owner of OFC) is an admin here and the original owner of this message board. OFC Dan.
  3. The only reason I commented on the blue wrench is; my boss at the time use to always say that when he saw me walking towards the torches. Look out people Dan's going for the blue wrench! LOL You know just as well as I do; a torch is a mechanic's (sorry I mean Technician's LOL) best friend in the shop. Dan.
  4. Plastic grommets don't get along with the heat that the "blue wrench" would throw at it. LOL I'd likely start by disconnecting the shifter linkage and then try and shift the T case at the T case's lever. If it'll move down there, you'll know that the problem is external of the T case. The shifter linkage uses ball sockets to connect the linkage to the shifter arm and the T case lever. These ball sockets like seizing up; If that's the case you'll likely need a replacement linkage. You may get them off with out breaking them; but by the time you get the socket cleaned up and remove the rust build up. They be so loose on the pivot ball that they'll fall off? If this is the proper diagram for your truck, number 6 in is the linkage I'm talking about. It may also be the shifter assembly itself that's seized up? That would be something I'd need to see before commenting on it? Like the others have said soak the crap out off everything you think might be part of the shifting mechanism. If you're up for a ride to London; I'd have a look at it and see if we can get it moving again? I'll call your visit and introductory offer; if there's no parts required; I'll do the labor for you. D&S Auto 90 Bessemer d. Unit #6 London 519-681-3844. I'm about to leave for the day; but I'll be back here tomorrow morning by 7am. Dan.
  5. Here's how I'd wire it. This should work on any 12 DCV system; if you think you might want 110 ACV to run whatever type of ACV item that is with-in the inverter's capacity and not drain the starting/main battery. The red switch at the top of the diagram, is to connect the secondary battery to the main battery. That's so if the main battery goes dead, closing that switch would give DC power from both batteries, to hopefully start the motor/engine. Dan.
  6. My 17 Silverado has a 110 outlet; but the inverter is only 150watts max. Which is about as useless as teats on a bull. My little 4" angle grinder wants 840 watts; so it won't run off of this inverter. I've only used it the one time while at a fishing lodge, when the hydro went out. That meant no TV for the night. LOL So I tried plugging in the satellite receiver and a TV into the truck, via a heavy duty extension cord. The truck's inverter was able to run them; but plugging in a lamp with a single 40watt bulb with the TV and it kicked the inverter's breaker off. I connected my oscilloscope to the inverter and I'm not sure why it didn't blow up that sat receiver. The wave form on the scope was something I've never seen before; it was so dirty. I've been thinking of installing a 3000watt inverter, connected to a secondary battery. That battery would be connected to the trucks charging system via a Voltage Sensing Relay. The VSR will isolate the two batteries; allowing me to draw from the secondary battery only. Once the truck is started and the alternator brings main battery voltage up to Approx. 13.5 the VSR will turn on allowing the secondary battery to be recharged. The Relay is only 45 bucks and would be good to install one on a boat. No more manual switch to isolate the starting battery; all done automatically. Dan.
  7. Swish. I do remember those barrels. Being on a tobacco farm, we had greenhouses. Dad would get a couple barrels, dump whatever amount of water in and put the barrels in the greenhouse, startling the walkway. Everyday he'd go into the greenhouse and give the barrels a push and roll them over. What we/he wouldn't do to get cheap booze. LOL Even as watered down that crap was, it would get you going and the whole time you'd worried that we didn't go blind. LOL Dan.
  8. All you guys with the 3.6 engine; don't let the guy changing your oil filter, over torque the filter cap. The torque spec is only 18 Ft. Lbs. Over tightening the cap could cause the lower housing to crack; creating a fairly large oil leak; that will run from the crack, under the intake manifold and then run out the back of the engine, socking the transmission bell housing. This filter housing is also part of the engine oil cooler assembly. There is no repair for this other then replacing the assembly. The lower intake manifold has to come off to get at it. Parts and labour adds up to about a Grand. Sorry for the hijack; but just a heads up, for you Mopar guys. Dan.
  9. You think so? LOL Again I loved my Dad to no end; but he did experiment with things that sometimes went wrong! "Why didn't that work" "I Don't Know" lets try again; oh crap look out Danny run!!! LOL That's all I heard when Dad tried building a still! No it didn't go well; he blew up the chicken coop! Mom was pissed; no eggs and no sign of her hens. Believe this or not; but that was my Dad. Dan.
  10. Any of our US visitors are always welcome; we just need to not sped this frigging virus anymore then it has. I have a friend in Boston that I would really like to go and see. He's getting up there in years (mid 80s) and hopping I'll get a chance to see him as he's getting a bit feeble. Dan.
  11. Power to you and I can understand the frustration of not being able to cross the boarder. Not saying you are or not a possible carrier of covid; but if Canada opens its boarders, how many carriers of the virus could cross and take the virus to places that have had very little cases of? Come visit and leave hundreds infected; sorry stay home and fish your own area! Canada, its people, lakes and fishery will (hopefully) always be here; come when the all CLEAR is signaled. Dan.
  12. My dad use to make homebrew all the time. Especially when his favorite (Black Label) crap went up in price. LOL He used a stone crock for fermenting; the whole house had a smell of hops, yeast and wet socks; nice to come home to. LOL After mixing his concoction, he would check it daily, by shining a flashlight into the crock's liquid; looking for the bubbles to stop. Once it did stop bubbling; he'd put a teaspoon of white sugar into each regular sized beer bottles. These were the old stubby bottles; Dad hated it when they went to the long necks; why; I don't know?!! LOL OK it's bottling time; Mom would always fill the bottles with a syphon hose from the crock to the bottles. She never admitted it; but I think she liked the taste of that swamp water? LOL Dad wouldn't let us cap the bottles with that metal cap crimping gizmo; "you'll break the bottles" and this is him breaking one in five. (Again LOL sorry) The filled and capped bottles would go into the basement for its "curing time". After whatever time frame that was he'd open a few bottles and we all had to try it. Well you know the saying a little white lie won't hurt anything. Well I lied through my teeth; Yeah Dad it's not bad a little on the yeasty side. Oh man was it bad; but Dad liked his brew. Sorry for the long post; BUT! One time Dad bottled his brew before it was done doing whatever it does. About three days later; in the middle of the night, I could here something banging/exploding? Went into the basement and there were bottle neck shards and bottle caps stuck in the drywall ceiling. Yup the bottles exploded and shot the tops into the ceiling. LOL Man I miss my Dad and the things he would try! Dan. Forgot to say I still have that old stone crock and everytime I see it I laugh at Dad's homebrew. LOL
  13. Just saw this; not saying this will work for your application; but it may give you some Ideas? Dan. The above vid was from HD.com (US site) This link should take you to the Canadain HD and what's avalable here? Home Depot Step treads.
  14. I know what the icon is supposed to be; but doesn't it look like a spaceship? LOL Beam me up Scotty Dan.
  15. 16 FOOTER! Your Grandson will be a true fisher. He'll talk about the one that got away for years to come. Good on you for getting him out! Dan.
  16. Enjoy the time; it won't be long before his interests may change? His fingers will smell the same; but it won't be from cutting bait. LOL Dan.
  17. Thanks all for the replies everyone!!!!! Lefroy. This pic is exactly why I started this thread! My Son Is now in his mid thirties and busy with work and his kids. The look on your son's face is everything I remember about taking my son out. Thanks for sharing. Dan.
  18. Come on guys give me something fishing wise to get me/us shut-ins through this February blues! I'm the second youngest in our usual ice fishing group. The eldest being 74 and (with no blame) doesn't want to go out where there's a chance of getting infected. Along with the "stay at home" crap; we couldn't travel together. So my fishing experiences have been through your reports. I don't care whether you caught or not; just a report on your trip out; would be good to read. Yes I'm begging here for anything fishing and/or fishing trip related. LOL So please post whatever you have; I promise to read and reply to the entertaining ones! LOL Dan.
  19. The trinkets I've bought my wife over the years, that have never been seen since gifting them; would likely add up to my new boat; plus accessories. The only ring she wares is the engagement and wedding. I guess there's something in there to be grateful for there? But the pawnshop is still an option for the trinkets; but I'd have to stage a break in to the house. .🙈 LOL Dan.
  20. Call me whatever you want; just not late for supper or a fishing trip! LOL Dan.
  21. 100%. You are correct there's only a few battery manufacturers That's my point; check the stats on the battery, not the name. Don't fall for the loneliest repair guy; like the Maytag commercials. LOL Dan.
  22. OH Man!!! Do you cater; if so I'll place an order in for a group of 5 and if you'll keep the proper social distances! LOL Really looks good. May come back to this part of the thread, next trailer season and fire up the pizza oven. Dan.
  23. You need to look for a group 35 battery (External battery size and post configuration). The next thing to look for is the cold cranking amps (CCA) . Your CRV needs/wants a minimum of 440 CCA for starting power. Also check what the reserved capacity (RC) is of the battery. RC is what the battery voltage would/should be after a two hour drain of 25 amps (Headlight left on) and not fall lower then 10.5 volts. 10.5 volts will still get you started as long as everything else is equal. The higher RC the better. Please only start comparing pricing, after you know that you're comparing apples to apples. There are a lot of batteries out there that look the same to the eye, even from the same manufacturer. Check the specs on the battery you decide to buy. If you have any other questions; please ask. If I don't know the answer; I'll reach out to my contacts in the automotive field and get you an answer. Dan.
  24. Yeah we did too at first; but by end of our first season, we decided to pull out. The parks facilities and location were fine; but it became more and more evident that we were not fitting in with the clicks in the park. As I found out, most other campers there "owned" their lots. So when some (I'd say 60% of) found out we were renting our site and who from; we usually were given the cold shoulder afterwards. I didn't want my kids (then 6&8 years old) to feel what prejudicem was and pointed towards them and us as a family. When I told the couple that we were renting from; that we were not coming back next season and why. They said they understood, as they been living it their whole lives, being a Black family living in Detroit Michigan. Just telling it as how it was; hopefully the attitude there has chanced? It was almost 30 years ago. Dan.
