  1. Princess is my go to store for a tool that I may use a couple of times a year; not so much for daily use. We all know most of the tools are Chinese knockoffs and the quality is just not there for longevity of use. Like I said something you may need for whatever a few times; so why not buy it cheep? For me it was when I was running new air lines at the garage. I went with black pipe and needed to thread the pipe for the various fittings. PA had a thread kit that was half the price of any of the competitors. Sure 3/4 the way through the job the die ratchet went for a crap; but with some Mac Gyvering I made it through the job. As for what Cliff said about customer service; it has also been very good for me. I usually go on-line to their catalog, find what i want and take a screen shot of it on my phone. I walk in to the store and if I can't find it; I ask one of the sales people where it might be and show them the pic with the Sku # . The on-line ordering also works good; other then my wife can see that I bought something from PA. LOL Dan.
  2. Been there done that! Talk about a butt pucker, as you pin the throttle Dan.
  3. My whole family were born and raised in the West Flanders of Belgium. My Granddad and his brother (Uncle Bennie) fought in the trenches of the 1914/1918 war. After Belgium became occupied by the Germans.; he/they had to lay their guns down and became a slave laborer's for the Germans. He was allowed to go home at night and that's where his fight began again, with the underground and black-market. Black market to feed the family and the underground to screw with the the German's occupation. The stories from both granddad and Uncle Bennie are slowly fading in my memory; but I know they never stopped fighting. My Dad was 12 years old when WW2 broke out and he followed his Dad's and Uncle's sense of fighting where it counted, in the resistance. They're all gone now; but no one can take the pride I have for them. Dan.
  4. Is there an issue with that lady? She seems very jiggly? Dan.
  5. I got a 700 cc Suzuki King Quad and it hasn't let me down. Well not a 100% true; when it was -40c out, the little battery couldn't turn the engine over fast enough to start the engine. Had to build a small fire under the quad; to warm thing up before it would start. LOL Fixed that by putting a full sized (875CCA) car battery in the side compartment; now the starter spins the engine over like nobodies business. Four wheel drive I think is a must. Chains on all 4 wheels and a winch; cause there's still a chance of getting stuck or getting yourself out of a partial break through. Drill a hole in the "safe" ice, drop down whatever you can come up with as an anchor down the hole and pull yourself out. Been there done that; more times then I want to remember. LOL Not saying you need a 700cc but the more power the better. The big thing about ATVs is they cannot travel on ice that's a bit sketchy; where a snowmobile wouldn't have an issue. Dan.
  6. Pail #2 Missed this on and it can be ordered on-line. The first one is an in-store only item Dan
  7. Princess Auto Pail Pail Lids Not sure for your area; but here there's free deliver due to covid. A 4 hour round trip may end up costing as much as these pails in gas money? Dan.
  8. Here's a fox in the chicken coop story. When I was a kid on the farm, Dad raised chickens for the eggs. One night he heard a bunch of squawking coming from the coop. He grabs the shotgun and out he goes. When he opens the coop's door there was it was a red fox in the corner; with a chicken in its mouth. Dad raises the gun and pulls the trigger; just as the fox made a dart to the hole he dug under the wall. Dad missed the fox; but shot the chicken that the fox dropped. LOL We teased Dad about that for the next 50 years of his life. Been fox or should I say chicken hunting lately Dad? OH man do I miss the old bugger. Dan
  9. My brother and I flew from TO to Thunder Bay. Picked up a rental car for the 3-3 1/2 hour drive to Nakina. Before leaving TBay we went and picked up your fishing gear at Purolator. Found it was cheaper to have that stuff couriered; then pay for oversized (One piece rods for example) on the commercial flight. We decided to fly, due to my bother's cancer. There's no way he could have handled the 16 hour drive from London to Nakina. Stayed the night at a small out fitter there and then up early for our flight to Beteau Lake and 10 days of what was the best fishing/time I have ever had on a trip. Was it cheap no; but the time savings kelp my bother rested enough for him to enjoy the trip. Dan.
  10. I'm sorry here and yeah it's not me cooking anything; but if you haven't tried this stuff; you're missing out. I've been until my wife brought some home. It equals if not better then Baileys Here's another part I like about the stuff; it's a Canadian product!!!! OK I'll stop now, I'm on my second Cabot & coffee. LOL Dan
  11. I'm just hoping for a 60's-70's type of winter. Where it starts freezing anytime soon and stays cold. Wake up in the morning and know you're wearing a coat and hat. Lakes freeze up and fishing the lakes mid December right on through March to early April. Last year I couldn't trust putting the hut out on Simcoe; just to sketchy. Let alone trying to put Sally on the Lake; had to go to Nipissing; to try her out. Not a bad thing but 2 hours more driving and towing this set up; just for one weekend. Let it snow on the 24-25th for Christmas and then the weather needs to turn into a witch's *** cold!!!! LOL Dan.
  12. Didn't notice any action from the shore fishers. But holy crap some of those guys can sure pitch a long cast. So it wasn't because of not covering a lot of water; it was a tough bite on Monday. Dan.
  13. I guess there was a pic of the third fish coming in. We all thought it was a snag. Two different guys held a dead quiet pole with a rod bending pull. Ian went to the far side of the “snag” and still had a hard time pulling up the line; again dead quiet like pulling up a log. The planer board came in first and then to all our surprise a foul (in the back) hooked fish. Got the fish in the well and it was pretty still; but still upright. After about 5 minutes or so; a quick pic and then released. This very lethargic fish took off like a rocket when Ian release it. We all stood there saying that was the craziest SNAG we’ve ever seen. LOL This is Ian just before the release . Dan.
  14. We make something similar and call it lazy cabbage rolls. Usually make a big batch and then vacuum seal individual (2-3 person) meals. The stuff freezes very well comes out as if it were fresh made. Fast easy meal; take a bag out of the freezer and toss it in a pot of boiling water. Bago cabbage? Guess what we're having for supper tonight; after seeing this post. LOL Thanks Cliff. Dan.
  15. I've been lucky with buying from US retailers. A lot of them offer free shipping within the states. So I have things shipped to a place called SCC Parcel Pickup in Port Huron. SCC Here's the lucky part for me. My son works for GM as an engineer in Warren Michigan; he is considered an essential worker and can cross the boarder. He lives here (Ontario) in Warick and commutes. SCC is a ten minute detour for him to pickup any package I've ordered. Costs you 5 bucks for them to hold it for you. Having some things shipped direct to you from the states, can most times cost more then what the item's value is. Duty is one thing; but the brokerage fees are crazy. Dan.
  16. Over cast days, snow covered panel or at night equals very minimal or no charge happening. The minimum size solar I would even bother trying, would be a 100 watt (8.3 amps)and that rating is at optimum sun and alignment conditions. They're going for about $500.00 and that doesn't include a controller. I can build a relatively cheap wind generator out of an old car alternator and a handful of neodymium magnets. In other words convert an electro magnet alternator into a permanent magnet generator. Which could easily produce 20-30 + amps at moderate wind speeds. What do we have more of 5+ miles out on a lake in mid February; wind or sun. LOL My last thought is that a hundred bucks worth of equipment compared to 5-6 hundred won't hurt as bad if/when they grow a set of legs and disappears. Dan.
  17. Hopefully this winter's weather allows Simcoe to freeze up this winter and stay somewhat consistent. Last season was to sketchy to leave my hut out; so I didn't even try. So again lets hope we get a cold season; to enjoy "safe" ice fishing on the Lady. Cliff if we can get the hut out; there'll be a key and welcome sign for you. Working on a wind generator to keep the batteries charged, without having to use the gas generator. Like I've said before if the hut's not being used, it's useless having it. Dan.
  18. A couple of decent walleye shown out of a 3 man limit; caught on another outing with Ian. Dan.
  19. Had a chance to join a buddy and his son for a Muskie charter yesterday. We went out with Fish Lake St. Clair charters, Ian is a very good boater (never had a minute of worry in his boat) and the man worked his butt off, trying to get us on fish. He had the boards set up in less then ten minutes of being on the water. At day break the wind and water were calm; so we trolled out of the river on to the lake. Marking lots of bait fish along with what we were hoping to be Muskies in the middle of the mix. About an hour into the troll we had a hard hit on the one setup; but it was gone before even getting the rod out of it's holder. A couple of hours go by, the wind and the chop start to build and decided to go into the river. Not that it was to rough or cold, it was the weeds that were churned up. The plugs spent more time in the boat, being cleaned then they were in the water. Another hour or so goes by and then a good hit. Ian pulls the rod out of it's holder and passes the rod to by buddies son. He hasn't fished a whole lot; but Ian was there coaching him all the way to the net. It It was his fist Muskie and the largest fish he had ever caught. (42 inch) I'll let the pic tell you how the young guy felt. Next was my turn up and I was gifted this 44 in fish; had a blast landing her. You can see in the pic that something during the life of this Muskie; had taken a bite out of its dorsal fin? We ended up with three fish boated (No pic of #3) and had a great time out there. At first I thought why isn't he releasing that fish right away. Then he explained that this narrow tank stops the fish from thrashing around and holds the fish upright. The inlet water hose enters the tank to flow fresh water over the gills. He leaves the fish in there for 5 or so minutes to revive itself. The a quick pic and in the water it goes. This fish took off like a rock when it was released. Dan. Here Ian was showing the proper hold for these fish.
  20. What I did was to tie about 30 feet of 3/8"bungee cord to an anchor. Drop it in the water so that I could still reach shore by the time the bungee was fully stretched. Tie a bow line off to a tree or whatever and then let the bungee pull the boat back out to the deeper water. you can buy rolls of bungee from places like Princess Auto Princess Auto Dan.
  21. Can you imagine what a person like this could do, if they would put their efforts into legit work? They'd likely be a well respected employee; where did they decide thieving was a better way? Dan.
  22. Maybe before anything else try this. Drain the carb or let it run out of gas when you're done playing with it. Let the motor sit for whatever time it takes for it to become fussy starting. When you go to start it, pump the bulb to fill the carb with fresh fuel. Give it a pull and see how it starts. The small amount of fuel in the carb might be going stale? Yes I know that seems awfully fast for fuel to go stale; but it can and does happen; with very small amounts of gas; that is exposed to the atmosphere. If this doesn't help you're not out anything for trying? Dan.
  23. All automotive (or any other) large manufacturer and their policies have faults. We as the consumer have to make informed purchases. If you get burned in a purchase (sorry but) it’s your fault. It’s not like 50 years ago where you could take a person by their word. Because they likely had a hand in building that product. Most salespeople today work on piece sales. They’ll tell you anything you need to hear to make a sale. Knowing that they’ll never have to back up that sales promise. A complaint moves up the chain of command. But we also have the internet; to use as a benefit. Research the crap out of what you’re interested in and who you might buy it from. That’s what I meant if you get burnt on a purchase is your fault. Dan.
  24. I would start the court proceedings and have WXRP served with the court date. That'll let them know that you're not going away. They'll most likely (Not a 100% sure thing) approach you with a settlement offer. If they do it's usually a week or so before the court date. Again if they do offer a settlement, I would seriously consider it. Weigh-out all of your out of pocket expenses, time off work, court costs (if you do not get a judgment against them); add these expenses to their offer and see what you are really giving up be taking the settlement. Another thing to think about, even if you win a judgment; all that means is that the court agrees with you, that they owe you. Small claims does not/cannot force them to peel off a cheque. It's up to you to collect payment. If they still want to play games and not pay; it'll mean another court date for a detor's hearing/examination. If you do not win that battle; you'll likely never see your money. I been through both of the above scenarios and I'm still waiting for my money from a 20+ year old judgment. In the meantime get all your paperwork in order and wright out a script and practice how you're going to present your evidence. Make 2 copies of your evidence, one for the judge and one for WXRP's lawyer. Making sure the judge's copy matches yours; as in order of sequence; he'll be able to follow along easily, as you make your presentation. Screw WXRP and shuffle the pages. LOL Dan
  25. I’ve had two of these things and doth crapped out after a few uses. If you or someone needs a boost there’s nothing better then a good old reliable set of cables. For me there’s nothing worse then going to a customer’s car with a little booster pack in one hand and my dick in the other and neither working. LOL Dan.
