  1. Yep, another thing on the too do list. Since I have a complete kitchen sitting in the living room waiting to be hung and 3 rooms of new Millwork to do. I might delay the refinish for a week, month or year or so. The person whom burned the table said she will refinish it, great gal, she appreciates all your help.
  2. I have a 25 year old Japanese made chainsaw that calls for 25:1, she starts right up after sitting for 6 months or more, all my other 2 strokes call for 50:1. The 1995 StarCraft's Mariner 15 HP kicker calls for 50:1 and the 115 Mariner is oil injected and I am not sure how much is fed into her. I mix what it says on the unit, no less, maybe a bit more. I would never run lean, ever. Why would one not follow a manufactures specs? I don't think anyone would run oil not recommended in their vehicles. Why then a 2 stroke? As for the original question I have always been of the opinion that if she's a Merc or Mariner, I use Mercs best oil, Yamaha, same thing etc. I am sure they want you to buy their brand oil if they have one, I don't think Merc etc. has a refinery. I have a pal who's Dad used his 90 Yammy oil injected at the cottage for a month and Dad bought some cheap CTC oil because he's cheap, the engine went south on him calling for a major rebuild or replacement that was not in the budget. The boat has sat now for 3 going on 4 years, sad. I guess he can take Dad to Judge Judy.
  3. To believe a Poacher will not continue to Poach because he had his Fishing Licence revoked is a bit naïve me thinks. In my opinion proper C&R practices can only be good for the fishery as Akri points out. Proper C&R. A fish only goes into my livewell if it going on the table or it has a hard time recovering. If a fish has a bad recovery I am most likely using too light tackle, or pulling fish up from deep water, too fast. They are opposites, yes, that's where skill comes into play.
  4. I have a few clay bars of different grits I use to detail vehicles Art. I was thinking of trying it on the shadow. It won't ruin the table at this point. If the table didn't have several inlays on a field surrounding the table with the grain going in many directions it would be stripped and clear coated already. If I was to sand it with the grain on all this inlay it would be faster to grow a tree and use that to build a new table. Maple ain't cheap. I was quoted a price for a piece of local Maple for a Breakfast Bar, not Birds Eye. 2"X18" X 52". $280.00. CDN. It is what it is.
  5. Thanks guys, I will Google the cloth method. I know that an Iron and damp cloth will lift carpet pile where heavy furniture left an indentation in a carpet. I'll buy a new table before I spend the time to strip naked. There was a time but these days nobody wants to see that. It's tough being a retired Male model.
  6. I have been on the business end of a compound mitre saw ruining nice Crown molding all weekend. My tape measure must be stretched, all 5. I have yet to wash a lure this year, haven't wet the hull of the StarCraft either. The only Rappala's I have touched came in a box of Carlings. I wish you all success.
  7. A hot Iron was unfortunately placed on the Maple inlay on a towel on the dining room table leaving a white impression on the wood. There appears to be a clear coat on the wood, I think it was the clear coat that was burned off leaving that white image. Before I try to buff out the white mark of the image of an Iron and ruin the entire table that wasn't exactly cheap does anyone among our talented group have any suggestions? Someone suggested carpenters crayon. Is there such a thing? I believe it is Maple. Definitely not Oak. Thanks, John D.
  8. I ate Eel once in Japan. I thought it was Lake Erie Perch!
  9. Get back safely, otherwise I may keep the StarCraft Superfisherman 190.
  10. I've lost plenty of tackle trying to land them bigguns'. They will strip you faster than a 10 buck Table Dancer.
  11. I will be rootin' for Vegas no matter who they get to beat. Can someone explain to me what a Golden Knight's connection is to Nevada? Nevada is a silver mining state not gold. I bet not once a Knight of any realm ever set foot in Vegas, unless they played one in the movies. Maybe Sir Elton John or Sir Paul McCartney.
  12. Thanks HH. I have never been to Spain. A great option. We had a place in Fla. and sold before the recession then bought a place in Mesa Arizona for less than cheap during the recession, and sold last year, just too far and the US $ was a killer. The only advantage with Florida is you can drive there. With the Canadian $ today it isn't an option, besides anything beats Fla. It's a big world out there. Thanks again HH.
  13. Mom and Dad are paying about the same in Hamilton, if they eat 25 bucks worth of food a week between them I would be surprised. A Filipino at the Steel Plant who's wife was a RN opened a nursing home back in the 80's, they are now multi millionaires that own a chain of retirement residences and nursing homes. . I will have to mention that to my Lady. Thank you. To me I don't care how much it snows as we don't plan on being in Canada during the winters. For the price of 1 months rental property in south Fla. you can rent a home in south Portugal, housekeeper included for 4 months, or longer. The most expensive dinner for 4 of us, more food that can be eaten, copious bottles of wine included at The Algarve was 25 bucks Cdn. in 2015. Spain can be just as economical. Something like 3 bucks a bottle in Portugal. I just need to talk my Dr. into giving me 4 months worth of meds.
  14. Can't beat that FF. It doesn't get much better. Way to go. We had a few feeds of Fiddleheads a few weeks back as the gardens around our place have many.
  15. I have a nice brush burn on the plastic of my front bumper where I kissed the ramp wall. It happens. Backing in a boat as a newbie is like having a crowd watch you as you loose your virginity, no pressure whatsoever to perform well eh? I am both ambidextrous as well as dyslexic, left is right is left. Turn left,,, sorry the other left!!! My brain is always arguing with itself. The best advice I have ever got from a veteran of trailering is, 1) use your mirrors only, never turn around. 2) Always 2 hands on the wheel at 3 and 9. The movement UP of the right hand and left hand gives you direction. If you have to use the right hand to turn the steering wheel UP to 12 o'clock you are going right, same applies for the left. Left UP and your trailer goes left. 3) If you can't see the trailer you are going straight. If you can see the trailer in the left mirror it is going left, same for the right side mirror, if you can see the trailer in your right mirror you are going right.
  16. The place we put an offer in fell through. I had my own Home Inspector drive out there last Friday. The place is in dire need of work on the perimeter drainage and basement foundation. Not cheap. I expected that as the place is around 100 years old and unless done recently I expect a 100 year old place will need something major. We looked at 3 properties yesterday. Every week more properties come up in Chatham-Kent and those listed drop their price. We also did a few drive by's in St. Thomas, a nice place to live I believe, not big not small with 40,000 citizens, prices there are reasonable as well compared to GTHNA. Minutes to Port. Stanley. Great fishing on Erie, golf and who cares what else as long as the fishing is great. Pt. Stanley has really boomed since I first went there in the early 80's. There wasn't a single parking space as it looked like everyone from London was there for the 24 weekend. New home surveys, singles and beach front condos. A buddy bought a house there in 81, a block from the beach. He paid less than $20,000.00. It has to be around 600K today, at least.
  17. Those times are based on my wife driving her car, not my truck. We drove out there yesterday to look at a different property. It took longer than Google map showed as we took the scenic route along hwy #3.
  18. My hats off to you Smoker, I have always been in awe watching you guys navigate 53 footers on city streets designed for Horse and Buggy in the 1800's.
  19. Operating costs for propane are less than hydro. The best ROI is On Demand propane hot water. If renting a unit (gas or electric) is possible in your area I would consider it depending on monthly cost. You never need worry about break downs and repair costs.
  20. Health Care in London from Chatham-Kent is a shorter drive than where we are here to Hamilton.
  21. We have family in Halifax. Going east was an option and still may be. Great value in Moncton New Brunswick.
  22. CNN reports this time 10 reported killed 10 wounded at a school shooting in Santa Fe Texas. Man this World is effed up.
  23. Great point Chris. As for getting anything done via Email, ferged aboud it. My kid brother did a stint in customer service at a national cable TV provider from out west. He would get 100's of emails with complaints each and every morning. If he read each and every email let alone deal with them the 480 minutes of the day would be over. He said they all went into the trash bin automatically, if the customer was serous about their complaint they would eventually call and choose 1 of the 10 options to get the right people to listen, human to human then of course they tell you that you are in line and the wait will be 25 minutes. They want you to go away and stay go away.
  24. Returned items are often just put back in the opened box and put back on the shelf by retailers. Canadian Tire is one of the worse doing this, Walmart is another. I got jammed up by CTC when I bought a shallow well pump, changed all the plumbing, installed it and the pump was NFG, they said sorry. If I had to have a plumber do it I would be out 500 bucks. I never buy anything where the box has been opened then taped closed. I would never spend any money on anything where the sale is final unless I know I'm taking a chance at a liquidators and the price is a fraction of what it is. Even then at Channel Control in Brantford items that are greater than 100 bucks and ALL electronics have a 7 day exchange policy. As for the legality I don't practice Law or Medicine so it would be a guess. An honest retailer would mark an item "As Is" I would hope and reflect it in the price.
  25. Exactly Rizzo. If there is a property for sale in Ontario 2 hours outside the GTA my wife has seen it online. The best value without going 8 hours north or north east is Chatham-Kent. There are many places for less than 200K that aren't in the slums and don't need renovations.
