  1. They are there but are few and far between. You'll really need to work the water and a lot of it to catch one. Good Luck!!!
  2. Sounds like a good time was had by all. My wife has that pesky bug and wants to join me on a musky hunt up on Georgian Bay.
  3. After some research, I think it might be interference. I'm going to be taking a good look this weekend at it to see if the transducers are a)close to each other and b)if they are mounted correctly. Thanks for the replies, it helps to hear advice from those who may have dealt with the same problem.
  4. It's a fiberglass boat, the transducer is shoot thu the hull. When I'm up on the lake next week, I would love to have a couple of starting points and work from there.
  5. Thanks, but, even in deeper water 30+ft, the same thing happens, all sorts of screwy readings.
  6. Picked up the new to me boat this weekend, it's a 19ft Larson Fish & Ski. It's got an older Lowrance X49 fishfinder and a Lowrance 3500 DepthSounder in the dash. Now here is the problem, the fishfinder displays an obscence depth (700+ ft) when there is only a few feet under the keel, the depthsounder does the same thing occasionally. Is there anything I can check that could be a simple fix or are the units pooched??? Thanks.
  7. Beautiful!!! That's my dream rig!!! Use it in good health and may you slime it!!
  8. If I'm not mistaken, a musky buddy of mine will be up there with his girlfrend working for the summer, his name is Brandon. Good luck and have a fun and safe summer.
  9. Depends on what you are using it for, I'd stick to a deep cycle for trolling motors and the like and a marine starting battery for the engine. I don't think there is a whole lot of difference b/n batteries. As for AC/Delco manufacturing the Costco batteries, I doubt it, it's probably EXIDE who I believe is one of the bigger manufacturers out there.
  10. You got your money's worth out of that rubber. The tread is just about done but what is more worrisome is the weather cracking/dry rot around the tread blocks. Those tires will come apart at some point and if that happens, either you or someone else will end up getting hurt or worse. For $725, go for it!!!
  11. N I C E ! ! ! ! I'm hoping to get into some pike action on my new boat (new to me) on Sunday up on G Bay.
  12. Walleye and pickeral taste the same. I can't tell the difference..........LOL In the states, there is a species of fish called the Chain Pickeral, it's a pretty cool looking fish.
  13. You should be ok. Does your van have the tow package?? If so, think about upgrading your hitch to a Class III. U-haul wants about $325 installed for one with wiring. It has the same weight capacity as the Class II but is much more strongly built.
  14. It's not that hard, I haven't done it in over 20 years but I still remember how from Autoshop class in High School. Make sure you clean ALL, did I mention ALL of the old grease and crud from the bearings with Varsol. Take a glob of grease and put it in your left palm and stick the bearing in and work the grease into it, you should not be able to see any shiny metal at all when you are done. Tap them in, put it all back together again and you are good to go.
  15. I'm looking forward to wrecking a prop or two this summer on GBay. Thankfully, my dealer is giving me a good deal on new props for my Volvo Penta I/O.
  16. Put some fuel additive in the fuel with each fill up. STABIL is a popular one.
  17. Aikmans has them, not sure if he ships or not, they are located near Dundas and Hurontario in Mr and Mississauga.
  18. I'd imagine Steve or Brian at JB's would order one in for you, as would any of the other dealers mentioned.
  19. Well, if you don't make it up anytime soon, I know all about drs. appts and the like, we'll be up at our new trailer in Honey Harbour if you feel the need to wet a line.
  20. Wolfmachine, I'd check out JB's Fishing Depot, they've got just about everything you can think of when it comes to making your own leaders. As for the original question, it all depends on what you are fishing for, if they are toothy, I'd stick to at least 50lb Seaguar fluro leader material and for musky, a minimum of 80lb.
  21. I thought you were on your way up to Temagami.
  22. Enjoy Lew!! I hope the weather is nice and warm. We'll be at our trailer in HH every weekend and I plan on at least one day trip to musky fish in the Kawartha's, I'll let you know when so I can get to see the new ride up close and personal.
  23. Retirement present for Dianne, HAH!! That's a good one!! She's a beaut my friend. Have lots of fun with the new ride and use it good health!!!
  24. Oh great, just as I'm ready to buy a boat, they want to have us get a new licence every year, certify our trailers yearly, me thinks me missed the boat on the good times.
  25. What about the train?? A bus would probably be the best option. Can't help you more than that, sorry.
