He was a weird one that's for sure, as for all of the rumours that he molested kids, remember one thing, he used to have a lot of money, lots of people out there would love to take advantage of that. Who knows for sure............ He was extremely talented and that is an understatement. Unfortunately, there was too much fame, too early and he got messed up. You'll be missed Mickey J!!

Big hits for us that grew up in the 70's and the 80's, now I've heard that Harrison Ford's yacht sank off the southern coast of France and he's missing, jeez, Indy too.........

looking for trailer hitch for 2002 sunfire
bigbuck replied to bigredfisher's topic in General Discussion
I'll second U-Haul.I hope you don't plan on towing anything heavy. -
Yeah, I was at JB's yesterday when Steve got back, O U C H!!! I guess he doesn't want to mess around with the muskie stuff anytime soon. Hook removal depends on how you hook yourself, if it is really deep, get your butt to the emergency room. But remember, the hooks are for the fish, not the fisherman. The lures are for the fisherman, not the fish.

Towing over capacity, Real World Experience Wanted
bigbuck replied to Ziki's topic in General Discussion
Towing overweight is no fun!! You literally cannot stop your vehicle in a panic situation!! Look into renting a slip somewhere if you don't want to upgrade your tow vehicle, it will probably be cheaper that way. There are those who say go for it but I'll tell ya, I towed my boat which with the trailer weighs about 32-3300 lbs with my minivan which has a tow capacity of 3500lbs and it was not fun. The thing did not want to stop. When the boat comes out in the fall, I'll borrow my brother's big Yukon to tow it. Towing capacity is a maximum weight the vehicle can pull with a 150lb driver and absolutely nothing else. Having done some towing this year, I've come to respect the 2/3 rule, don't tow something that weighs more than 2/3 of your maximum tow capacity. I hate to be a killjoy but I've got to share the road with everyone else in a safe manner. -
Help moi pick up a reel (walleye rod)
bigbuck replied to archie_james_c's topic in General Discussion
High end Quantums are very nice, a bit on the heavy side but slicker than owl turd. How about a Shimano Saros, it feels a bit smoother than the more expensive Stradic?? Bring your rod with you and try out a bunch of reels and buy the one that you like the most. -
Unfortunately, there is not much new material in the 'Insider' mags, most of it is rehashed from InFisherman. I don't buy the magazines any longer on a regular basis.

New X-Rap/Frog/Jig n Pig Slop Rod - Recommendations?
bigbuck replied to MSBruno's topic in General Discussion
Stick to the fast tip, extra fast is for extra sensitivity which is something you don't need a whole lot of when froggin' -
Just don't be tossing big baits with that rod, you will snap it!! If you are just using a bobber hook and sucker, you'll be more than fine.

Congats on the ACE!!! I know the hole, that's no mean feat!!!

May she R I P. 330k is respectable, you have a lot of repairs that need to get done and it's at the point where repairs are just not worth it. May the new Kia be just as good to you and your family.

New X-Rap/Frog/Jig n Pig Slop Rod - Recommendations?
bigbuck replied to MSBruno's topic in General Discussion
If it's slop you want to fish with frogs and the like, you need a heavy action baitcasting rod, 7 ft or longer to give you the leverage you need, a St Croix Premier is nice, as for a reel, you can't go wrong with Shimano or Quantum, unfortunately, 250ish is not quite enough, save a few more bucks and buy what you really want as opposed to settling for an inferior rod and reel that you will end up replacing sooner rather than later, you don't need to buy twice. -
Nice 'ski outta the Bog!!!

Sweet Pike!!! I hope the girls enjoyed their Pike Popcorn!! My oldest (4) caught a 3lb hammer handle on GBay a couple of weeks ago and couldn't wait for it to hit the pan. Great Jiggy Jiggy report!!

It's a small outboard and an '03, I'd agree, look at the fasteners inside the engine compartment, if they look rounded and well used, the motor was probably a lemon, if not then go for it.But don't wait too long, it will sell quick.

There is no need to be impolite or to lose your temper. Just inform the irate landowner to go back to his or her home and to please call the police, IF they arrive, you can let them know that you have been harassed by the landowner and are wondering if you can press charges. You are fishing on a navigable waterway which is considered Crown Land, if there is no Crown on the irate landowners head then you should be fine. But for God's sake, be polite, being nasty makes all fishermen look bad. Chances are, you are dealing with a grumpy old woman and who knows what her problem with the world is, and really, who cares.........

Cliff, go take a look over at Buckeye Marine, they might have something for ya. Otherwise, sniff around some of the marinas and small dealers and repair shops, there might be something around that will tickle your fancy.

I've got both Quantum and Shimano spinning reels as well as baitcasting reels, they are all nice. Go with whichever one strikes your fancy.

Either Or for musky up on LOTW. There is a lot of water and you'd need the rest of your life to really fish it all. As for why the availability, look at the loonie's value compared to the greenback, it is getting expensive for americans to come up and enjoy our lakes. Good luck and good fishing.

Hey Pete!! What's shakin'?? Anyways, Pete's rods and reels are fantastic for the money that you spend on them. They really are the greatest bang for the buck. For the price of a Calcutta TE, you can get 2 full outfits (rods/reels) + line and a few bucks to spare on a couple of lures. The low profile reel is sweet and I'll be adding one to the arsenal at some point but after picking up a trailer and a boat, it ain't happenin' anytime too soon. Pete if you want to fish Georgian Bay, drop me a line. Bruce

Stoty, there are really big pike in there, my buddy caught a 22lb'er on May 2-4 weekend, it was quite the battle bringing it in. As for walleye, I've heard it's really tough. Good Luck.

I think all of us should toss our expensive gear and buy the Dora The Explorer kiddie fishing rods. My daughter slimed the boat with a 3lb pike on GBay, nice little christening for it. As for my wife and I with $500 of gear, we got skunked, my little one caught a little perch with her Sponge Bob kiddie rod. I tell ya, if it keeps up like this, it's going to be a long dry summer for me.............

I'll say U-HAUL. They are the quickest, cheapest way to go and they do a pretty good job. You can't beat their price, that's a fact jack! I just had one put on my minivan to haul the boat and I was out of there in an hour and a half.

Looking for clean cottage suitable for toddlers
bigbuck replied to charlesn's topic in General Discussion
I'd suggest bluewaterfamilycottages.com in Honey Harbour, it's walking distance to the store,library,cafe,bakery,etc...the cottages are clean and affordable and there is a nice little beach for the kids. People there are very nice and so far, we're happy having our trailer there.
