  1. Hey! Happy Birthday, Coonass! Soon you'll be all growed up and have a driver's license and all.
  2. I really dislike that one but it DOES kinda look like TJ.
  3. Ground effect sounds like a close call.....I prefer the Bernoulli effect....sounds safer.
  4. Bump
  5. Glad you were able to get out and have a good time Mike. Two and a half months is a long time to be in the hospital. I hope you both can get out fishing together soon.
  6. Yes and the fluoro doesn't kink up like wire does. Also, if the fish starts to roll, the fluoro is a lot less likely to harm the fish. As for visibility, I don't think that that's a major issue with esox. They're also very easy to make in any weight/length you need. Get the Seaguar...it's good stuff. Make sure the snaps/swivels match the test strength of the leader material.
  7. No Pete, I only paid for them.
  8. OK, OK this is what I PM'd almost verbatim this morning. Expletives removed. Did the Montreal Sportsman's Show yesterday, We didn't stay too long..I was too darned embarrassed. We go to a sportsman's show...to look at the sportsmans stuff and what does J do?? She buys bed sheets and the buggers put them in a clear plastic bag so everyone can see what I bought and what sport I'm into. When you go to a sportsman's show it's normal to have a reel, some lures or even a freakin' moose head in your baggage....NOT BED LINENS! The worst part was saying hello to Mercer and Campeau before their seminar...as we were talking they kept glancing down at what was in the bag I was holding. Got the distinct impression they wanted to wear gloves before shaking my hand.....freakin' weird.....like I was a leper or something.... For those of you who don't know, this is a pillow case.....didn't want to take everything out and have to fold it up again. I hope all y'all are happy now.
  9. You got that right for sure!
  10. WOW! Very impressive Aaron and Tony! You guys work hard at it so you always do well. Thanks for posting this great report! ps. ummmm since when have you grown a beard Aaron? Are you trying to emulate me? It won't work...you'll need to be much shorter, have white hair and be very bad at fishing.
  11. Yup, I'll be by the fireside watching it with my feet up ...maybe even a brew or two!
  12. Here, landlocked Atlantic salmon (ouananiche) are probably a little more abundant. Some of the larger lakes that come to mind are Megantic, Massawipi and Memphremagog. This year the season opens April 24th. Just after ice out dudes troll just sub surface using slender, blue/green crankbaits or colourful streamers such as the Mickey Finn. They don't get very large here with 8lbs being a big one but they are certainly one of the best in show as far as fighting display goes.

    Hey TJ!

What, no apology from you on the Can/US game? And don't you dare answer this thread!
  14. What smalliefisher said.
  15. Thanks Marty, you beat me to it by mere seconds.
  16. I saw these at the Montreal Sportsman's Show today. Also met Carll2 there from L'Aventurier on the Gouin..Marc thorpe was there and even said hello to Dave Mercer....who'da thunk it....
  17. I still have the LCX-25 and I'm thrilled to death with it.
  18. that's because esox eyes are on top of their heads.
  19. I didn't get any mail...I feel cheated.
  20. Rick, did you happen to scout around for fresh yote tracks?
  21. I haven't total permission to post these but our Bud Marc Thorpe makes his own baits for his muskie season. He goes though a lot of baits in one season...24-36 spinnerbaits alone and honestly, I've fished with him a few times and I can't remember him using a spinnerbait but I know he uses them. Here is few pics of his 2010 crop of spinnerbaits. He always says "They ain't pretty, they're built to catch". I don't think he sells any though. I think they're pretty nice.... Oops, and here's another..
  22. And no, archie..while I may appear to be crawling out of bed, it's just my short stature. If I was to be getting out of bed after 6am, the morgue would be assisting. But thanks for your vote of confidence.
  23. Just an excellent get together you guys had! Karma is alive and well. Beautiful fish pics also. As far as Lloyd's laker is concerned, I've been reading other threads of course and it strikes me that had Lloyd not been with a group of friends with cameras, we might never have heard of this monster of a fish. This, to me is the mark of an unassuming, experienced guide. If I was in the market for someone to take me fishing anytime soon, I sure as hell would know where to click. Thanks for the great report....nothing short of spectacular.
  24. For 300+ fish, he'd better have a commercial license. Y'know, when you have problems with your business, it's easy to blame government regulation. I can think of a hundred ways to make their business opportunities more palatable for them and their guests. Stifling MNR directives is not one of them.
  25. Strange subject to me. I have purchased many pre-owned vehicles in my lifetime and I have never, ever gotten a dud. The last one I bought was from a good community member here. He offered to have it inspected for me and I felt that he had already done his part with the great price and the in depth description of the vehicle...pictures included. I had the inspection done here, there was nothing to find of course but, to justify their jobs they found that the front passenger ball joint was weak. I had them replace both of course and that was the end of the story. All that to say that eventually, in your lifetime, you will have to trust someone and they will have to trust you. Do your homework...don't be in a rush. Also remember that verbal agreements with people you know are morally binding.
