Welcome aboard. Offhand, I would say a boathouse would be the ideal place to store a boat.

I'm having trouble imagining an 80 horse Merc being light than a 40 horse anything. Mercury only manufactured 80hp units between 1960 and 1989. So your "newer/lighter" engine is between 22 and 51 years old. That is a heavy motor. I would not take a chance.

You can launch on either side. The regulation has to do with where you're fishing, not where you're parking.

Most tournaments include a prefishing schedule. It's usually held for a couple of days immediately prior to the actual tournament. B1 is no exception.
