  1. As harsh as it might sound, I'd leave it alone and let nature take its course. That's how it works.
  2. Good call on the Whisker, Dave. Easy, there are a few on Ebay...they're not that easy to come by.

HAHAHA Glad you use them.....don't tell me you're getting them in the sink though eh?
  4. Hey! You got the whole family in there, Jacques! The only one missing is mon oncle Horace! Great picture essay, thanks for sharing.
  5. Thanksgiving is meant to be observed every day of the year, Vin. It'll all work out for you and your family.

Thanks a lot guys. That's a good rig, Manitou. There's really no need to conform to what everyone else is using. Try different things and if it works for you, as Lew would say, it's just another tool in the toolbox. A lot of folks here make some really nice stuff.

They're not assembled, Darren. They're just hanging there with whatever hanging device I could find til the next step.
  8. WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO When's the house warming? You guys are gunna have one heck of a nice winter! Congrats!
  9. I'll often just leave them whole. Carefully placed blade will take all the meat off leaving all the bones intact. Either way, some great meals.

Thanks Lew...glad they're still running. It was a gamble as to how they ran back then as I wasn't testing them hardly at all.

Very kind of you Terry, thanks. I'll hopefully start having time honing skills and building more over the next little while.
  12. Fantastic report, Tyler. Great setting, beautiful fish, well written...man, at your age and the experiences you're living, are you ever going to have some lucky grandkids listening to your adventure stories! Thanks for sharing...excellent.
  13. Hearing about all these large baits on the board made me think that perhaps some of us might want to talk about this stuff. Whether you make your own baits or not . Whether they be large or small, wood, plastic, poured baits, wire baits, terminal tackle...whatever. It's a decent pastime for those days when you can't get out for whatever reason. I've got some on the go right now. These are mainly large baits between 9" and 14"...still have finishing touches, lips and hardware to do on these. They're all weighted and will run between 5' and 15'. Hope we can all share tips and tricks. Thanks.
  14. Good stuff David. That's a beauty pic. Thanks for posting that.
  15. A great catch there Skipper. But yes, the first two are the same fish. Congrats.
  16. Big box for sure. Fifteen pounds of perch filets is a big bag also eh? The first two fish are the same fish...musta mixed up the pictures.
  17. Can't help you with that Dave...I've never been called. It'd be interesting but I agree with Lew. I hear ya, Lew. HA! I wonder how many poor suckers have been found guilty with only a few minutes of deliberation the day before muskie opener.
  18. Some very nice fish there. Congrats.
  19. Pike will take a 10" stick. If it moves, it's food. Certainly not your best choice of bait though.
  20. I think it would be very unlikely that a hybrid could happen although..we should never say never.
  21. Don't worry about it Gord. It's the same thing every year. Kinda like teaching grade school..every September, a new batch of kids show up and you have 6-7 years to teach them that there are no miracles. BTW, it was an early spring which explains why it's started 2 weeks earlier than usual. Let's hope it's an early FALL. <---- pun
  22. It's a smallie.
  23. No oil filter on yours Darren. You might be referring to the lower unit lube?
  24. Good advice. I don't want to mislead you with the wasp disposal. BTW, that fire hydrant must be a buggar to find in the winter.
  25. Paul, just wait 'til it's warmer out. Get yourself a wide container to catch the old oil..put some paper towel under the oil filter...get a good sized funnel with a goose neck hose..tilt the motor to maximum 'gravity' and steer it hard to port for the oil to escape...undo the oil drain plug..let all of the old oil drain from the motor...undo the oil filter and discard...install new filter just a touch more than hand tight...refill with recommended oil...clean everything up and check for leaks...check oil level. If you need any of the items ie. tub, funnel, filter wrench..just pop by and pick it up.
