  1. Nice fish Garry. Maybe I should strap my couch down onto my boat. That sounds like a great idea
  2. i feel for ya FFL. I'm kinda in the same boat. Have never been able to catch the bass also ... didn't do so well when I was shore-bound, now that I have the boat I only managed ONE 12-13" fish each trip. I read up on a lot of reports, articles, but it just doesn't work when I'm out there. I guess the only thing we can do is ... "keep at it".
  3. some nice bass and the ski ehg! The weather was quite good on Sat. ... yesterday was a completely different story lol
  4. Congrats Cookslav. Although you won't have as much time to spend on the water in the near future, that gives you a perfect reason to get a bigger boat !
  5. WTG Bill! Congrats on completing that 10,000 cast! There's no better way to christen the new combo! haha @ Cliff's comment.
  6. Nice intro. Welcome aboard. I look forward to the future reports!
  7. A great read for the morning! Thanks for the amazing report Justin! ps... looks like you got new reels? haha
  8. Hi Mike, I'm doing my 3rd year in the University of Waterloo right now so I might be able to help ya out a little. Lots of great advices have been said. I'll put everything down in point form ... 1) As others said, It would be better to not take time off school to work, unless you are absolutely confident that you will be able to get back into it after a year or so. It would be difficult to get yourself to go back to school once you start earning money. 2) For student loan, others have already mentioned OSAP. I worked as a lifeguard in highschool for 2 years or so and saved up a bunch. The government loan me around 10k and with my savings I got through first year without any problems. I'm in a co-op program so after first year I alternate between 4 months of work and 4 months of school. (Work is part of my program, I need to completely 6 work terms to graduate). Since then I earn enough during my work terms to fund for my schooling. You have to start re-paying your loan 6 months after you graduate, however, I have heard that they are very leaniant when it comes to that. If you send in a letter saying that you don't have the ability to fork out money at the moment they usually would extend your "interest free period". I am already saving up to pay it back and I will most likely be working right after I graduate so I don't worry about it too much. 3) Whatever you choose, choose something that you truely enjoy. Don't base your decision too much on "what's the hottest job right now" or "what's going to look like a great career". It might be true that it might be hard to find a job in a career that's already flooded with people in it, However, If you like it and enjoy it, you will do a much better job than others and it will give you an edge. If you need more info/help, feel free to PM or something. I've always up for a talk. Victor
  9. I have never done it a trip like that but as others said it seems that 2 weeks is very short considering all the driving that you'll need to do. My family went to Banff national park last year, they flew over there by plane and rented a car to tour around. Just visiting the national park alone they spent about 7 days. Of course you won't be doing as much/going as deep into the park for the purpose of your trip but it seems that there are still lots of "must-visit" places to cover. I agree with Moosebank, missing a few days of school is nothing for the little ones ... i'd say even grade 9-10 it wouldn't be such a big problem.... especially the first week of school ,it's always slow anyway.
  10. I've fished that lake a few times these past 2 years. Mattitude's got it right on for the launch, bring bug spray, it gets pretty crazy there. Ehg already mentioned how the "upper" is actually the south end and the "lower" is the north end. I haven't explored the south end much but it seems that most people fish the north end. I can't help much in terms of fishing tips as I haven't had much success (it's just me though, others have done well), there is pike/bass/walleye/muskie/crappie in it. If it's your first time there, and if you're fishing the north part, be extra cautious if you go up near Avery point. It's the long strip of land that sticks out, there's a very shallow area that extends far out into the lake and it's a very bad area for props. Let us know how you make out.
  11. Great report Jacques! Sounds like an amazing night!
  12. that spot never fails you eh! and it seems that you get a mixed bag of stuff everytime you go there. Nice report Glen ... no mouthwatering fishfry pic?
  13. Thank you for taking the time to reply MoS and MoB! I'll do some more research tomorrow and will post a report when I come back (If mr.skunk decides not to visit me anymore )
  14. Hi gang, I'm staying at the blue mountain resort from Fri-Sun this coming weekend with the girlfriend's family. I'm planning to bring my 14' tinny and fish on sunday on the way home. This will be my first time boat fishing this area and I do not have much idea on where to go. I would prefer a place that's on the way back to Toronto and it would be nice if there's a free boat launch. The only place that I know of would be the north end of Simcoe/South end of Couchiching (I know it's out of the way but I don't know anywhere else). Little lake maybe? But I don't know where I can launch. O yeah, I'll be targeting Bass/pike. It would be great if someone can tell me where to go and directions on where to launch my rig. Not looking for honey holes, just general areas. Please PM me if you do not want to share with the public. Thanks in advance! Victor
  15. You nailed'em hard! Beauty largie/smallie!
  16. Nice fish buddy. Aren't you gonna try getting your pike?
  17. Welcome aboard leechman. Awesome intro man. I'd be a happy man if I'm as "fortunate" as you when it comes to catching lol !
  18. just can't beat the urban spots for a quick fix.
  19. Some very nice smallies there snag! Love that t-shirt btw !
  20. Congrats on the PB and the amazing week of fishing! life sure is good for ya!
  21. why all the way from california? Is it legit? There are so many scams that tells you the boat is in the states and stuff. Personally don't have experience in this but the cost just doesn't seem to justify it even if it is for real. But it probably can be done ... fitting it into a tractor trailer and ship it over?
  22. Looks like some quality father-son time! Very scenery and nice to catch a couple for a bonus. Your dad didn't fish?
  23. This is boring. Lets stir it up lol !!! I am going to catch a 10lb largie and a 8lb smallie to own you all !!! o wait... i'm not in this ...
