Sounds like a great idea. We can also sum up who gets the most "big fish of the week" at the end of the year and have like a "bass king" ... "pike master" ... "muskie legend" ... or something like that lol. just for braggin rights.
Since Sydney started fishing, I don't think Cliff catches the big ones anymore. So my vote's on Sydney + Carole.
so the addiction grows from this point on !
Young ones get bored easily so it isn't necessarily natural that he would love the sport too ... but now, no more worries!
i was at that PP last year and fished the main lake from a canoe. I didn't venture too far away from my campground as I didn't have an electric motor and I was alone. From what I have gathered, the fishing has gone downhill compared to what it was like before. I ended up with 2 hammerhandles and I hooked into a good sized pike (I'd say at least 30") which spat the hook after like a 20 second fight.
That didn't look so bad for a couple days of fishing. My year's been worse so far ... hopefully it'll turn around soon time.
Thanks for the report, enjoyed the read and congrats on the new PB eye!
hmm. what about addiction?
i'm with gone_fishing, sometimes I'm out to relax, regardless if I catch something or not, sometimes recreation, and many other reasons. It depends on when it is, where it is, who i'm going with and more.
Nice fish, I was there in the afternoon in my 14' tinny and it was pretty choppy. My little anchor couldn't hold bottom and we drifted with the wind fairly quickly... ended up staying in the small channels and catching tiny panfish.
so are you guys just counting the bass or the other species as well?
If you are counting everything, maybe i'd suggest ... top 5 bass, plus one from each specie?
I was in the same boat earlier this season so I did some researching.
Apparently, when a storm comes in, the barometric pressure drops ... and fish is supposed to turn on ... when it moves out, pressure comes back up, and they become less active.
I got out on the day right after a big storm has passed ... and didn't catch much... so i blamed it on the pressure haha.
Nice fish guys, can't think of a better way to spend a friday afternoon!
Do you mind if I ask how deep you were fishing at Dalrymple? I've gone out there twice since bass opener and have only caught a 12" largie from some lily pads. Been throwing the spinnerbaits and no pike neither.
A nice mixed bag of fish Cliff and Carole! It's always great to tie into a fish on the other end of the line after a long day of work regardless of what it is. Too bad i dont' live as close to the water as you do.
Carole: Is your hand alright?
