Barg's 1on1 D is alright when he playing against another Centre, I guess, but he's not that great for anyone who has some speed and I still think that he commits stupid fouls sometimes... that either get him into foul trouble or give up easy points. He did improve though and I hope it would continue. hated to see AP go... have enjoyed watching him and all his fadeaways ... but I think it's a move that we have to make ... it hasn't been working for the last few seasons.

Thanks for the report, and good on ya for releasing the biggun.

Glad that there's minimal damaged done ... really could have been much worse. And more importantly the girls are alright. It sure is scary though... hail in mid july. You should tell the insurance guy that the tree just happened to fall on your fishing gear or boat, so you'll need to get new ones

Clear Water Carp & Largie Action
Victor replied to The Urban Fisherman's topic in General Discussion
Those are some of the best looking carp I have ever seen. Nice scales, very clean and healthy. It sure is a carper's heaven in there. ha, the middle finger Nice report Ryan, it'll be tough getting through these few days just waiting for next weekend to come. -
I hope that you won't be catching much Pike, but if you do catch one, please keep it ... On the other hand though, good luck with the muskie and walleye.

Heading down to PORT PERRY/SCUGOG on SATURDAY...
Victor replied to rbaquial's topic in General Discussion
haven't been fishing out that way so i don't know how it's been... but it's starting to get warm and the crappie will be harder to find. I was just going to say it... then I realized fish-miester already mentioned that there's no Pike in Scugog. Tactic for rain: wear a rainjacket lol. -
Condolences to you and your family Wayne.

why do you ask why lol? the question should be, why not.
-
i have also caught a carp with only one eye... pretty nasty if you ask me but he seemed fine. o btw, that's a double header shot, in case some of you are wondering why there's 2 fish lol..

somewhere around 15-20. A float rod, a fly combo, and some more carp rods are on my to-buy list though.

Looking for Partners&Spots in the Kitchener-Waterloo Area!
Victor replied to taz4432's topic in General Discussion
You actually don't really need any "carp specific" equipment for you to catch them, on most cases they dont' help you catch more fish, but I guess just makes the process more enjoyable (at least for me anyway). PM me your school schedule and we'll see if we can work something out. -
Otonabee River Report - June 29 - July 2
Victor replied to sneak_e_pete's topic in General Discussion
Congrats on the muskie! Now, you need another 10000 cast. I enjoy fishing the otonabee as well as there's lots of fallen trees to cover, just wished the boat traffic isn't as bad. Thanks for the report. -

That's a great little intro, let me bump this up to the top for ya. I'm living off-campus right now, but it's close enough (lester/columbia). I'd be up for some fishing, I do head out with a few other anglers here who lives around the area. We target carp alot but we fish for other stuff too. If you love a GOOD FIGHT and you usually release your catch anyway, you gotta try carp fishing. -
Took my sister out to Scugog on the canoe...

Mark nailed it right on... an intro would definitely help. What program/year are you in? I'm in my 4A term for Civ Eng. at U of Waterloo. -
Days out on the lake/river is never a wasted day man. You did managed to catch some crappie+bass so you didn't skunk, and they're not really the easiest things to catch at high park as well. There's always going to be some good days and some bad days. Heck, in 3 years of carp fishing I still haven't caught one over 30lbs and you got one in 9 weeks Just keep at it and you'll get'em.

When I first started fishing all I did was float fish a piece of worm ... I liked to use the longer type floats as opposed to the red/white round ones mainly because the round ones don't get above the water surface much and it's hard to see when your bait is way out there.

I used to fish Balsam quite alot from shore but only maybe 2-3 times on the boat. Haven't really done well so can't give you any advice, but I know alot of people say that the area right out of the provincial park area is good.

Clofchik gave some good advice on the fish finder and he's got a nice little setup there. It's important to learn how to read the graphs though, I'm still learning .. it's not really useful when you can't read them haha....

You certainly lived up to the name of "MTBF" lol !!! Great report and pics, i have been wanting to find a place/cottage where I can go out for bass/panfish during the day, and when bedtime rolls around, I can take out my carp gear and fish for them while i sleep lol. That seems like the ideal lake for me!

I was expecting a report with lots of carp porn ... you should have came with me , i went 4/7 ... the wind was really strong and white caps everywhere ... it was weird, the first 5 hours I only landed/hooked 1, and in the last 90minutes of the day i had 6 runs, which I landed 3, nothing over 20 though. Glad that you're feeling all better now, we have to get out together soon.

It was a great read. Can't really beat father and son time at a beautiful place like that. Thank you for sharing.

Sounds like they like the bigger baits? And since you said muskie size lures worked ok, why not keep at it with big size lures?

I have only fished theretwice with Marko, and only ventured about 200-300m of riverbank. It's mainly browns and i have caught one sucker. All of them were caught bottom bouncing worms, just gotta find the slow pockets of water and drop your rig there.
