  1. General admin tickets are $40 ,they are $80 for 3 days if your wanting to get on the general grandstands
  2. Just wondering if anyone else is going down to the Honda Indy Toronto this weekend? Its my other true passion to fishing. You cant beat motorsports and cars, oil, fuel, rubber and speed. I'll try and get a few pictures
  3. Sounds like a plan thanks. Good fishing??
  4. Well, since getting here 9 weeks ago, I've had some good fishing (1st bass ever, 30lb+ carp, plenty of pike), aswell as some not so good fishing. But after fishing yesterday, I have to say it was one of the worst days fishing I have ever had. Having fished the rouge last week (got a lift), I thought I'd jump on the TTC to try the humber seeing that the island ferries still aren't running and Im stuck to where I can get on public transit. The fact that visibility is on a few inches, it kinda put lure fishing out completely. Anyhow, spotted abit of movement in the shallow marshes just up from the bridges by the mouth of the river. Sweetcorn and float fishing tactics, 2 hours later I gave up and walked upstream to try and find alternative spots, no chance, the lack of places to cast a line started to get to me, so I marched over the High Park. After arriving at high park, I thought Id walk to the top end (the bloody long way). Kids everywhere, weeds like you wouldnt believe, and tbh its got to be some of the crudest fishing I have ever seen. Anyhow, found a spot and managed to catch a handful of crappies and a very small bass. until more kids and even adults started casting over me, so off I march as for me, this just isnt fishing for me. Decided then to go and try the Humber Bays, just west of the humber river, so yet more walking. Anyhow after working alot of the water I called it a day. I really am feeling the effects of being stuck without a car now, and Im not one to fish in such busy surroundings, I like the peace and quiet, I came away from yesterday after 7hrs feeling like I'd walked more than I fished, and feeling stressed out. That just isnt fishing to me!! Think I need to get back up to the rouge where I had some quiet time at least. So anyone got any suggestions where else I could go to save me another wasted days fishing lol
  5. Thanks. As Im getting out more now, I hope to be keeping the reports coming.
  6. Thanks and you are welcome. Thats how I caught my 30lb Toronto Island Carp
  7. Well back in the UK I'd have said they where chub, but wasnt sure if you had them here. Definately a good day, and now I just need to figure out how to get there on the TTC from downtown Toronto haha
  8. Well I caught more than trout, I managed Trout, Carp, SM Bass and something Im not sure off! Mate turned up and picked me up at half 8 yesterday morning and we headed up to a spot he knows, its basically right by a golf course near the 407 highway, sorry, could be wrong as I dont know the area. Anyhow, we parked up and got the gear, walked about 10 minutes and then he points and says that it. It looks like a small storm drain, and knowing that my friend isnt the best angler in the world I didnt want to say anything. So I persuaded him to move downstream looking for pools and deeper water and we cam across a deep bend. Few casts of small #1 mepps resulted in a number of small brown trout. Chuffed we'd actually caught something now. Then I spot a carp, 5-6lb in the smallest river ever, just couldnt believe it. So IO asked him if he knew carp where in here to get the reply, 'oh, yeah but Ive never caught one on spinners' lol. So headed down a little further and came to a deep rocky pool, good size aswell and I started casting away, hooked a few fish that I dont know what they are............. If I was back home in the UK I'd have said they where chub, but dont know here, any ideas? caught on small spinners. Carried on working the pool, then bang, had a proper little fight (Thought it was a big brown) but got it to the surface and its a BASS!!! get in, my 1st ever bass, on bass opener when fishing for trout. Anyhow as the day went on, I got 3 Bass, all about 1.5lb, nothing big and caught on small spinners (sorry pics are crap, taken on mates phone and he video'd instead of taking pictures) About a dozen brown trout, all under 1lb, and about 5-6 of them 'unidentified' fish Finally, I cant resist carp, and after spotting as few behind a fallen tree, I baited up an area just downstream of it, also did similar in a pool below with a sandy bottom. Now a little secret for you fishing for Carp, take a tin of sweetcorn, and half a loaf of white bread, liquidise both of them up (Seperately) and put in containers, when on the watersie, mix them together to make a 'slop' mix, throw in 2 handfuls and you'll see a cloud, this is full of flavour and the fish home straight in on it, throw a dozen free offerings around it(try and keep the area as tight as possible). Then fishing a simple paternoster rig with a spade size 14 hook (if your sizing here is the same as the UK) and a small bomb (weight) to hold bottom. Fish with 2 grains of corn on the hook and fish in the baited areas. Let the areas rest fo 20 minutes before you make a cast tho. then its simly tighten up and watch the rod tip (keep hold of the rod) I managed to land 7, 3 got away, but good fun when they are in the 5-8lb bracket. and even more so when you are only fishing 4lb line and have a 10ft spinning rod.
  9. At home in the UK I had no problems, had a wormery/compost heap in the garden and could have as many worms as I wanted everytime I went fishing. Now its a little different as Im in a 14th floor appartment. I do have a bucket on the balcony which I intent to use as a mini wormery. But where do I collect them?? There is a bit of a park opposite my block but I cant just go digging up the fields so any suggestions would be good. Want to expand on the fish I catch while Im here and worm has to be one of the best baits for that. Cheers
  10. Its my Peugeot 306 Rallye. Full track/race spec, currently in storage while Im here
  11. Maureen, Ive started another topic on it, but it would be good if people could give me some pointers http://www.ofncommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=32008
  12. Well managed to land a job out in Missi, but my problem being no car so am stuck to the TTC/GO public transport. I need to get from 231 Fort York Blvd, M5V 1B2 , to 2085 Hurontario Street, L5A 4G1 When I did it for the interview, I took the street car down the front to Union, GO bus to Cooksville and then walked down the road took me about 1hr 45 min, but even if I got the bus and didnt walk the last bit I'd still be looking at 1hr 20-30mins so wondering if any of you lot can help me out as this is gonna be my daily commute. Thanks in Advance
  13. Well, Ive been flat out with interviews and managed to land myself work as a construction estimator down in missisauga, start on tuesday. just need to figure out the best public transport routes for it now, but the fishing will have to be left for weekends and evenings
  14. I catch half of my carp back in England on surface baits, its all about getting the confidence of the fish up, which isnt such an issue here as theres very little pressure on the fish from anglers
  15. Well been in Toronto a week now and managed to get out 3 times fishing, 1st time I went down the waterfront and managed to carp on surface baits, one a high single, then the other a mid teen. Went again yesterday, managed to get a few follows on the spinners but nothing else. Then decided on the islands today so got the ferry at 11 and fished til about 5 Got a very good carp, chuffed to bits with it, got to be a high 20, in the 26lb-29lb bracket going off similar fish Ive caught in the uk. Baited up an area Id seen them and left it to rest for half an hr then returned to catch this nice common. 8lb main line, with a 6lb hooklink. Thats a 2 foot landing net to give you an idea, and it was one FAT fish Also managed to get two pike on the spinners, unfortunately I only got a picture of the smaller, as I unhooked the larger one in the water and let it go before I realised. Biggest one was about 9lb, and then there was this one at about 3-4lb, all in all a good day tho. Also had the joy of meeting a number of friendly people fishing who where happy enough for a quick chat, including the 2 daves (one being master basser) nice to meet you
